I was in love with April until she got on the motorcycle backwards, total dealbreaker! We explored this canyon 40 years ago! A group of us rode bikes from Tempe and spent the weekend at the campground in Tortilla Flats! We were just as goofy, but nowhere near as attractive as you and your group! I love that your group does a lot of the same trips we did when we were younger! At almost 60 now it’s all I can do to keep up with my adult sons! Keep it up, we love your videos!
Thank you! The funny thing is April actually has a motorcycle license. She oughta know better! We saw plenty of motorcycles riding on the Apache Trail, which naturally didn't help us much when we were trying to hitch a ride back to the car. So, did you see the vehicles in the canyon way back when? They were old enough to have chrome bumpers.
@@wildpathsaz Dangit, that makes me love April even more, but I’m not surprised! I’ve been riding since the 70s! Yea, I remember the cars, it’s crazy the one under the huge boulder! Pretty much the whole length of the Apache Trail has cars off the side, we’ve found some super old ones. Guess people have always driven like idiots on that road. First time we rode out there on our bikes we were about 14, lil backpacks full of camping gear, also stolen beer and cigarettes from our parents! Good times! By the way, if I passed you guys on a bike I woulda taken you back to your car one at a time!
@@wildpathsaz Lol, nope, not there, other canyons however. . . Boys and I are heading to Payson area to check out some caves. You ladies do a lot of canyoneering, you ever get involved with caves? I’ve been doing it since the early 80s, now I have my boys involved with the hobby. Seems like something you girls would do!
Wow, that route looks like fun! I was just at Tortilla TH for the first time this past weekend, wandering the wash and the hills off FR213; but now that I've seen this route with the tunnels and climbing, looks like I'll be going back up there sooner than I thought! Thanks for the video!
Yeah, it's a blast. Go before the rain comes for best chance of avoiding water and mud. One day, I'd like to explore the slot, but right now it's full of gross, green water.
Well some people are lame lol You guys have fun and do some bad a$$ hikes. Keep it up! You are lucky to have great friends to join you, that's why my videos are so quiet, most ppl are too scared to join me 🤣 lol
I get that. I watched your Battleship video. That kind of hike scares most people. We actually started out hiking things like wave cave, fat man’s pass, wind cave, piestewa etc once a week. Some of us got tired of the same 8 hikes over and over, and together we started taking on bigger adventures. We lost a lot of group members who weren’t up for it, and we gained others who were. We feel really lucky to have each other - we definitely grew into the big hikes and canyoneering adventures together. It’s been fun. Thanks for watching!
Thats really awesome ! I chase views, thrills, and search for signs of the past. Thats what motivates me. UA-cam is more of an archive location for my hiking videos. I dont have the patience or skill to do the "UA-camr" thing like you guys do lol You guys definitely do "real hikes" as I call them. Some people just cant hang, its good to see you guys didn't let that stop you ! @@wildpathsaz
I mean, we're always having a good time, but that day for some reason was off the charts. And that's what was left after heavy cutting LOL. April always says she has guardian angels who have a full time job of looking after her. So far, we've been lucky to avoid major injuries.
Phoenix metro, but we spend a lot of time near Payson and in Sedona. Other places, less frequently, but we try to get around the state. Superstitions is where we hike most of the time. Where are you located?
@@wildpathsaz I am in Sahuarita just south of Tucson. I'd love to see more up in the superstitions too. Just it's only a few minutes to Tumacacori highlands and or santa Rita's. Gosh there is so much to explore in this state. I cannot get enough. Every time we go out by my house I see another canyon, peak, or ditch i want to check out. It is amazing here!
@@exploringgodscountry yes, the list goes on forever and ever. Tucson area has a lot of great hikes, and one thing you have there that we don't have in Phoenix is easy access to high elevation hikes. We're a little bit jealous, but we can get to Sedona faster 😁
@@wildpathsaz have you done mt wrightson? It is pretty awesome too. I didnt know the mountains were shorter by Phoenix. I just havent done much up there at all.

Love the rock toilet and the crowns and the cool tunnel. What a fun video! It makes me want to do it!
Thank you! It's a fun one.
