Good video. To take your movie analogy further, some think that the trend of nostalgia-pandering, reboots, remakes, etc. is a result of the death of mid-budget movies. Studios force big-budget movies to adhere to cookie-cutter guidelines because they’ve put $100 million into the project and can’t afford any risk of flop. With mid-budget movies, however, studios will give directors more creative freedom because they’ve only put in $5 million - the risk is smaller, the potential reward greater. Maybe a similar principle is at work here. But given that the Halo series is a flagship one, I don’t see a way out
Yea this is the curse of being tied to Microsoft. Shame, feel like an indie developer could take this series to the next level even without the AAA funding
As far as the Halo CE remake goes, it's a waste of time. They should have just remastered 3 and then rebooted the rest after 3. Though moving away from the master chief is probably best. Maybe looking at another group of Spartans during reach or something even earlier on one of the countless other planets that the covenant invaded. Maybe even doing a sequel to ODST
I'm not sure if they ever cared at all actually.. Some of my buddies were testers For, 5, And they told me certain aspects of the game were brokenAnd inconsistent, But when they brought it up to the people in charge, they basically told them to shut the fuck up, Because it would take too Much time And effort to properly fix them..
The remake stuff comes from unreliable sources (equivalent of 🤓) so I wouldn't panic. If fact, when I came to challenge one of the people claiming this, I shit you not he basically pulled the "trust me bro" card. The community rn is so desperate for something, they're not even questioning the validity of these claims and these "sources" know that so they'll do whatever they can to perpetuate the confusion and desperation.
@snugyt I don't mind a little bit of speculation, but considering how antagonistic this fandom can get, it's honestly tiring. I haven't touched Halo for months and probably won't buy the next game since 343 has shown time and time again that they don't care about this series despite the fact that their reasoning for existing as a company, was to give a rat's ass and the poor results reflect that. idSoft on the other hand, care deeply about DOOM despite being made up of new people. They understand what makes DOOM great and the results also reflect that. I honestly don't think you can "fix" 343 no matter how much you change it. Their lack of respect and appreciation is why Halo is currently where it's at and why the fandom has become obsessed with speculation from unreliable sources
Bungie left them so many cool ideas, characters, concepts, and stories to choose from. Instead, they keep pumping out novels, cookbooks, comic books, audio logs, terrible TV adaptations, etc. Everything except a damn game.
