He might be the Prince of Travancore, but he is certainly the King of Humility! N his humour n honesty are just as delightful! One of the best episodes n it features a royal! Who would have thought?! Thank you to whoever made this possible (guessing it’s Cyrus)..

The contribution of the Travancore royal family to making Kerala, a model state is something that must be taught in history books. And the successors of the royal family continue to be humble, courteous, away from politics, and ever willing to contribute to the society in whatever way possible. What an episode ! As someone who is based in Kerala for last few years and continue to be amazed by the level of human development and social consciousness in this state, the imprinting effects of the Travancore royal family merits a deeper analysis.
Thanks team Cyrus Says for treating us to the wisdom of His Highness Aswathi Thirunal Rama Varma
    🙏

Don't know about this royal family , but one of the kingdom in Kerala were used to tell lower caste females to roam without covering their breasts .......
      That's horrible
But now Kerala has overcome all the worst of worlds and we are all proud of it .....

42:45 tears in my eyes for rama varma's pure and heartfelt message. True feelings of people like me who have been exposed to cyrus since childhood, but only getting to know cyrus now when I'm 28, through this podcast. Feel honoured. Much love to cyrus from Baltimore, USA. I listen to you everyday without fail.

Namaste to His Highness Sri. Rama Varma Sir & you two. It was a very interesting and lively interaction. But listening to Sir's concert is like learning the core of Carnatic Music. He makes his very interesting and explains some of the important points of that perticular song. I thoroughly enjoyed the session. Thank you very much for giving an opportunity to a South Indian artist as there is always some kind of prejudice against the South Indian artists. We are very proud to say that we South Indians are extremely brilliant and highly knowledgeable, this is my humble statement 🙏👍

Malayalees still bow to our royals ,not because they are born royal but because of their demeanor....even the NextGen are royals humble decent and down to earth. Travancore royal family is one of the richest family of India and owns Shree Padmanabha Temple at Trivandrum. The wealth of this temple is amassed because of the offerings by this royal family for centuries...they are all highly educated, knowledgeable and accomplished...They ARE blue blooded royals in every sense of the word....🙏🙏🙏

I absolutely, thoroughly enjoyed, and smiled throughout the conversation.... Such a refreshing change to hear from someone so esteemed, and yet down to earth, something that is becoming a rarity at breakneck speed. Please do have him on again. Him talking about his grt grt grand mum got me all choked up, and nostalgic, bringing me back to how our past generations had so much gravity in their thought, knowledge, mannerisms, outlook on life, and personal quirks that in today's parlance we understand them to be 'rebels'.
And now, I must check his future live shows.... Thank you for having him on!!!!!

One of the best episodes.❤ Such a sweet person!
And about that 2nd AMA question, every musician (instrumentalist) definitely tunes his instrument before the curtains are up. But most of our Indian instruments are tunic(tuned to a particular pitch) and are very sensitive. Lot of factors affect the tuning like the bright lights on stage, the temperature of the hall, the seasons and so on. So no matter how accurately the instrument is tuned, it can still go off right before they start to play it. So the musicians have to tune it right before they start and sometimes even in the middle of the concert as well!

When we used to be waiting for our school bus, he would be going in his car with both hands greeting the people daily from his palace to the temple and back. We miss these kind of people to rule over us.

    From generation to generation..
The city of anandapuram is their generosity... The royalty has developed the Travancore region to such elevated status which is so modern.. And no govt since1947 has done anything beyond what was achieved by the royalty in education, modernisation of the city..etc This city still maintains it's culture...proud of you sree rama varma sir... 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

👍👍👍 One thumbs up for his Royalty, one for his humility, and one for his underrated singing talent. I'm proud of Indian royalty because they're the people who patronized arts, preserved our culture, and kept up traditions. Once a royal always a royal. The class comes through naturally. Now I'm going to listen to Carla Brunie (hope the name's right). Thumbs up to Cyrus too. He's got a fantastic easy-going way of engaging celebrities. That's another fine art. BTW is Prince Rama Verma related to Raja Ravi Verma, the pioneer of Divine art paintings in India?

Prince Rama Varma really understood his post-independence role as a former state leader. He truly kept our traditional identity alive and became a living example of how to be competent, confident, compassionate citizens. His family were the caretakers of the Padmabaha temple wealth (billions of dollars) and all of it was found completely intact fifty years after independence. Who else can you find with that kind of integrity these days?

I have known Varma ji for more than 30 years and I think one of his greatest accomplishments would be, to be completely genuine and himself all the time; be it in a private, one to one conversation or in a podcast like this that can be viewed by anyone!
Despite being a member of the erstwhile royal family of Travancore and one of the greatest musicians and Gurus in Carnatic music, he has absolutely no airs or complexes and is happy to clown around and be silly and just have a laugh, as we can see from the playlist of funny videos in the Musiquebox UA-cam channel.
I discovered so many brilliant comedians, musicians and cartoonists, only thanks to Varma ji and Cyrus is one of them!
I never expected to see Cyrus and Varma ji together and it was an absolute delight! The two of you could easily chat for at least ten episodes, without anyone getting tired.
The amount of time devoted to the whole royal thing was a bit sad, because there is so much more to the man, as a musician, as a comedian and as a great human being. All the same, a million thanks to Cyrus and his team (about whom Varma ji has been all praises among his friends, after his Mumbai trip) for making this beautiful episode happen.
