It was originally called Snake Pit because of a trombone section from a college named Snake Pitt with two T’s then the video that it got transposed made it popular so it’s believed to be a Tuba piece
Yeah it was made as a trombone thing but then turned into a low brass thing and then tuba thing and the full band and orchestra so I don’t even know anymore
I’ve played tuba for 4 years now and on my second year of playing I mastered tongueing its crucial but the hard work pays off, I’m now working on my pedals
All these talking about "OMG control your sound" Like shut up its a pep band song. They're not meant to win BOA grand nats. Chill your tots. It's meant to sound nasty
true every time I look at a band they're like I sound way better this is not a fucking competition neither have we heard you or your band ever we're hearing another band.
this is amazing with any instrument. i'm a baritone sax player but i'm still amazed and this is one of the reasons why i wish i hadn't switched from trombone. brass instruments are so powerful.
The original composer wrote this song for the sousaphone. Now days everyone is just turning the notes for their type of instruments. And as a tuba player this song is so much fun to play!!!! :)
I see this fanfare has blown up....This fanfare is originally called SP...the name is from the original TROMBONE section that created this fanfare in 2001 from Maynard Evans High School. The section is called Snake Pitt, with 2 t's.
No it HASNT, please do your research, the original name is called BGS Tromboner, section 19. The fanfare was a deal that was not made. Trash talk IRL if you're gonna say garbage like that.
glen williams is a youtube fraud. this piece was written in 1394 on board the SS McLizzy and was originally for TWO fanfares! please do not belive Glen Williams!
in my band all the low brass play it (sousaphones, trombones and baritones) and the rest of the band dances. we do this after football games when we win and its a ton of fun
@xCarissaSx well it is hard to switch from woodwind to brass, try to get a buzz by first making a kind of buzz without the mouthpiece by keeping your upper lip and your bottom lip together and making them do a 'lip flutter' then on the mouth piece try to do the same thing, thats the buzz, it does take awhile to learn for some people so just practice it until it does work, or try it on a horn; I found playing on a hrn easier then learning the proper buzzing techniques
Any have any idea where I can find the sheet music for this and other Auburntubaherd fanfares? I would love to learn to play them, and having the sheet music would make that a little easier.
@FFernandoZZuniga There are tuba sections that I have heard that sounded like flushing toilets with motors behind them. They try to play loud and there tone suffers greatly.
I am a girl and I play alto saxophone. This marching season our tuba/sousaphone player quit band so my director assigned me tuba for marching season. Im switching from a woodwind to a brass instrument...anybody have any tips for me? ): Im realy struggling... I cant get my buzzing right.
Not to disrespect any tuba players but honestly, have you heard this with euphoniums, trombones, and trumpets. It sounds crisp instead of all smooshed together. And again NO DISRESPECT TO ANY TUBAS/SOUSAPHONES!!!!
I see this and then I wonder how tf do women not like tubas. This is so nice. I play the tuba as well and then they just point at me and say “haha fart horn”
@xCarissaSx i did the same when i was in high school. since your lips arent used to buzzing. just try long tones(hold notes for a while) until your lips get used to it. at first ur tone will suck. after a while ur lips will feel more comfortable with the mouthpiece and ur tone will clear up a bit. to clear it up more u need too control ur air. note wize i had a good ear so it wasnt so hard for me to get the notes. Ear training and long tones will help a bunch. after that it should get easier
OMFG 20 TUBAS OMG my band only has 3 but still you are amazing and good luck at all you exhibition and competitions but not lick you need luck you have skill
@bowlerhat3471 Yea i Play Sousaphone it depends on your skill level , like if you have a lot of experience then its easy, but if you just started, its hard
@beaglemanzzz im pretty sure its up to the director what they use, and plus, contras are expensive, do you really think they are gonna go out of their way to purchase 19 contras? im a tuba myself, and my school has contras, and personally, im going to a college instead of a drum corp, im sure you know why. i personally love sousaphones better. the moral of what i just said is that we all have our preferences. so chill.
wheres auburn university because i really like their sous section and i want to join it but i also want to go to school to become a computer programmer and game design im a sophmore in highschool so i still got 2 years of marching band
@JIZZYJAY3697 How do you know it's a trombone fanfare? I'd disagree with the second sentence, but you capitalized Tubas, so I'll let it go. :P Basically, where does it come from? Have you seen the original? If you have, I'd like to know where. I've been trying to track down the origins of this.
@ManOfMrE59 we do to and i am one them and we play it pretty well. i bow down to these guys. i play the double tounge part by myself and its hard as crap.
@ushak4ron calm down. why are you so mad, i never said i was so smart. i checked and you're right, sousaphones are a type of tuba, but you dont have to get too overexcited about instruments and band...
I have played the tuba for 6 years and I can play this song by heart. It's one of my favorite tuba pieces. It's also called Sonic Boom
Or snake pit
It was originally called Snake Pit because of a trombone section from a college named Snake Pitt with two T’s then the video that it got transposed made it popular so it’s believed to be a Tuba piece
I’m pretty sure it was originally a trombone piece or fanfare
Yeah it was made as a trombone thing but then turned into a low brass thing and then tuba thing and the full band and orchestra so I don’t even know anymore
I’ve only been playing for 2
16th notes are crucial tounging on Tuba
IAN GORE facts same
Ok so i thought it was just me
I’ve played tuba for 4 years now and on my second year of playing I mastered tongueing its crucial but the hard work pays off, I’m now working on my pedals

I mean we are having a tuba battle tomorrow. Then it is the drum line battle, but i agree
Mostly because they're a college. Lol
Abdul Muhammad You're right. the Tuba is supposed to be the loudest wind instrument in the whole band.
93jabob o
I've never seen so many tubas in my life... Great performance!
this is amazing with any instrument. i'm a baritone sax player but i'm still amazed and this is one of the reasons why i wish i hadn't switched from trombone. brass instruments are so powerful.
Bro dw bari sax is insanely powerful, it should be the only woodwind in marching bands (it is the only one you can actually hear)
@@imender9219 bari and piccolo
I play bari too wow
@@carsonmartindale6821 omg hey bari fam !!
I marched Bari last year and I was the only one you could hear on the recordings.

There goes those Sousas again! Big nasty sound! I like it!

In my marching band we call it sonic boom and after the double tonguing solo part he triple tongues and it is amazing
Video or audio?
I don't think there is a video sadly, and I haven't been in high school for 4 years now lol
jesus christ i havent seen so many tubas in one place at one time!!!
I see this fanfare has blown up....This fanfare is originally called SP...the name is from the original TROMBONE section that created this fanfare in 2001 from Maynard Evans High School. The section is called Snake Pitt, with 2 t's.

@spencer2468 yes those are not exactly tubas, but they are the marching form of tubas. they're called sousaphones btw.
I wish I had a bigger tuba in my HS, only 2 of us and he's graduating next year T_T
Isaiah Bennett Hey I'm the only one at my school
at least your band had a tuba. i remember the year without a tuba player in my high school. the lack of bass was scary
TehLoneRaZoR same we had no euphoniums I am a tuba player and missed out of how good they sound together😞
Isaiah Bennett same
in my concert band period we dont have any low brass. im switching to tuba next month after festival
@xCarissaSx well it is hard to switch from woodwind to brass, try to get a buzz by first making a kind of buzz without the mouthpiece by keeping your upper lip and your bottom lip together and making them do a 'lip flutter' then on the mouth piece try to do the same thing, thats the buzz, it does take awhile to learn for some people so just practice it until it does work, or try it on a horn; I found playing on a hrn easier then learning the proper buzzing techniques
lol, I played the whole summer, and I got used to them by the time I was back in for classes. Got 1st chair trombone for jazz band too!
@LBtuba1122 you can tell how good a band is by how many tubas they have and how shiny they are
best instrument ever
we have this as a stands tune for our low brass in my marching band, its so catchy tbh😭
Tubas, tubas everywhere
Omg that's just like our drill writer. He never wears shoes.
anyone else notice the 2 girls? good for them!
i’m the o ly tuba player at my school and i’m a girl

AYE WHAT'S GOOD FROM DOUGLAS BYRD
+Hunter Carpenter shut up gth
Er mah gerd! Tuba Herd!
its both:technically its snake pit but some bands have their drumlines play a cadence known as sonic boom along with it hence sonic boom, or snake pit
I personally think it was any easy switch. I was an alto sax, then I swapped down to trombone and tuba.
Any have any idea where I can find the sheet music for this and other Auburntubaherd fanfares? I would love to learn to play them, and having the sheet music would make that a little easier.
i'm a contrabass bugle player. that was.. nice!
I love sousaphones but I never have gotten one that actually works, so I play trombone through the parades/football games
fail it is written for the tuba the trombone and the trumpet as a trio
I can hear it rolling into a drumming crescendo with additional brass and woodwinds.... sax and flute?
No, go to an Allen High School game. 34 tubas this year, 808 total in the band.
who ever where the people playing 32nd notes are amazing!
@AnimeRooky That's how it's supposed to be. It should be a whole note. I don't know why they ended it with a quarter note.
if this started playing while i was in a real snake pit ill probably start laughing instead of being terrified
I wonder if any of these students were in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade?
@FFernandoZZuniga There are tuba sections that I have heard that sounded like flushing toilets with motors behind them. They try to play loud and there tone suffers greatly.
@encoreman987 I'm pretty sure it's in the key of F minor. But yeah it's pretty simple. My low brass line in my school plays it. I play tuba. =D
