    If you have a label in your shirt scratching the back of your neck, you can cover that with the tape.

    Never knew there was batting seam tape. Very versatile too. Thank you Laura for this demonstration.

    I use it when sewing knit fabrics - shoulders, side seams etc.

    I use seam tape to reinforce my husband's pants pockets, coins really wear out the pocket bag, so I iron it on to both the inside and outside of the pocket bag.

    If you use this tape inside garments to cover seams, please be aware that, over time, it can start to lift up or to come apart. This type of tape is best if completely covered by fabric.

    I just put the two pieces close like that and zigzag or overcast them together

    Two things First I love the quilt behind you and secondly the cutting board on your table do mind telling what brand it is. Thanks for the info on the batting tape and the use of it.

      My suggestion is to just search for cutting mats until you see one that looks like hers. The best cutting mats are really the Martelli cutting mats.

      @@debmetheral6596 I waited until Martelli had a sale on their cutting mats and believe me they are really superior. They have more markings so I almost never use a regular ruler anymore I also purchased one of their non-slip strip rulers. Also they have a ton of videos on how to use their rulers and their mats.
      Before all of this Covid crap started I attended an expo a quilting expo and saw them demonstrating all of their products. It really was quite amazing

    Why would we want to use a polyester product to put cotton batting together? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of using the cotton batting in items like potholders or those bowl cozies that can go into the microwave? Is there another alternative
    I just do a zigzag stitch and sew them together

    • @GrrannyH1
      @GrrannyH1 2 роки тому +1

      Agreed. I make "frankenbat" using a wide zigzag stitch on my sewing machine.

    • @dcwatashi
      @dcwatashi 2 роки тому

      @@GrrannyH1 Of course the tape is faster than doing the zigzag but I would be concerned about adding that polyester. I guess it’s OK if you were making table runners or a wall hanging

      Do not use this tape if you are piecing batting to make the microwave bow cozies! Other than that, using polyester batting tape on cotton batting is totally fine. There are no ill effects what-so-ever. Many quilters these days even use polyester thread now to piece their cotton quilt fabrics. It was once thought that polyester was is inferior to cotton, however that was the polyester of by-gone eras. Polyester thread has come a long way since those times!

    Do you put the tape on the front or back of the batting?

    • @dcwatashi
      @dcwatashi 2 роки тому

      There isn’t a front or back to batting. Only things like Insul-Brite
