Thank you Katrina. I am a new quilter and have only used pins to baste my first quilt and have decided to use spray basting on my next one. It is so helpful to have someone helping. I’ve seen watching other UA-cam quilters lay their backing, then batting, and then their top on the floor, then using spray glue but I’m 72, and it isn’t all that easy to get up and down very fast to smooth your layers out. This is a much better idea. Thank you for this idea.🌹
Good demo girls! Thought it worth mentioning that if you let it all dry for 24-48 hours, it won't be tacky and stick to your sewing machine needle! Guess how I know.....yes I've made the mistake of quilting it within a couple of hours of applying the adhesive! Have a great day.
Yes! I've had the same experience, good advice. I'm usually so exhausted from wrestling with all the layers, that I don't feel like jumping right in to quilt, so it works out. I do love this spray; I've used it for years.
Thank you Katrina you both did a really good job there!! and had fun which is most important. Couldn't do without the 505 spray thanks for sharing with us xx
Love the quilt top. Thank you for showing us all the correct way to baste.
Thank you Katrina I really enjoy your demonstrations and I have enjoyed making some of the items.
Thank you 😊
I use a four foot metal ruler to help smooth out when I sandwich quilt and batting, it really helps when you do it alone! Great job.
Thanks for that I was going to ask how you manage when you have to do it alone.
Very enjoyable and being so focused makes such a difference to the tv (look at me egos). Great video so helpful thank you.
I must try this spray. The quilt is gorgeous
Hello! I'm still trying to catch up watching all the videos that posted while I was away visiting the grandkids. I hope you have a cheerful week ahead! Thank you for posting and sharing your talent.
Hi Katrina and your side kick!!!! This is such a STRESSS free method. I am going to try it.
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for this Katrina. I have a design wall in my quilt room and after putting an old sheet on the wall I use the wall to put all the layers together instead of a table. It works well also. But I like your idea of spraying the batting and adding the fabric and then flipping it. I might have to try that on my wall.
Very helpful video. One can always learn something new. Thank you!
Such a good demonstration, I even think I could get my husband to assist me!
Thank you
Merci pour cette démonstration.
Good video, can you share the quilt pattern.
Hi Patrice, Katrina has a video on how this quilt was made - ua-cam.com/video/kRhrKIuFwGI/v-deo.html
❤❤❤
Since I have a small table, I use the "pool noodle" method and that works pretty good.
Hi Kate, We are intrigued - what is the pool noodle method?
Thank you - a very good demonstration. I haven’t tried the glue spray yet. I would also like to know the name of the quilt pattern. The quilt is lovely.
It looks like the jelly roll and box quilt she made one a few episodes back
It's out of the book "Jelly Roll Jam"
Great explanation, could you please show how to do it on a lap quilt when you’ve only got a small table? Any tips you had for when a quilt will hang off the table while you’re trying to get it together. 💜💜
I use my 5ft bed to sandwich my quilts. Have you a ‘double bed’ to lay them out on?
@@judithkitchingman4419 that’s a great idea! Thanks.
Hi Sammie, Judith has a good idea and Katrina suggests doing it half at a time.
@@SewingStudio thanks for your reply! 💜💜
Hi Katrina, I would love to see this quilt finished, will you be posting it soon? How big is the quilt you are showing and how wide will the white border be? Look forward to hearing from you.
Hi Deidre, Katrina will definitely show everyone a picture of the quilt once it's finished. The border will be an inch and a half.
Thank you. Very useful information. Do youu know how many full size quilts you can get from one can of adhesive?
Hi Debbie, Katrina has managed to get 3 before- but depends how much you spray!
8:25 Monday Jan 30. I tried this method but it didn’t turn out very well
Both my quilt and my backing were all wrinkled after I did all the steps from video
I don’t know how to fix this
When I do this method of basting, I spray the batting to the back, then I press them together. That gives me the chance to see and press out any wrinkles. Same after I spray the top onto the batting. Some may not like how crisp the sandwich gets, but I like not having wrinkles to deal with. (Sometimes I even pin the sandwich after doing all of this!)
Is there a tutorial for the quilt top. The size of the blocks n strips. Thank you.
Hi Carole - Yes there is... ua-cam.com/video/kRhrKIuFwGI/v-deo.html
You lost me when you need a helper. I don't have a helper.
Hi Claudia, Katrina does do another tutorial here: ua-cam.com/video/mAMjnUpGbsA/v-deo.html by herself.
Maybe if you had a wooden or metal pole and put under it, you could flip it and turn it.
