Steve Cauthen Hall of Fame

Steve Cauthen was a teenage sensation in America who then came, saw, and conquered Great Britain. His exploits include being the only jockey to have ever ridden the winner of both The Derby and Kentucky Derby and today we recognise his relatively short but spectacular career by inducting him into the QIPCO British Champions Series Hall of Fame.

one of my all time sporting heros, met the legend many times since i started following im and sir Henry back in 1986 thats when i got into racing. absolute gentleman. always had time for me for chats and signing photos i took at the courses. went to the legendary warren place a few times too. the whole gang were amazing inc willie ryan paul eddery and the stable lads and lasses and julie cecil too. but watching steve on a horse calm and still just the Cauthen elbows going was poetry in motion. very sad in 93 when he retired i stopped going racing as much as i did then. followed cecil and cauthen all around the tracks bot were genius in their field. best era of racing 80s and early 90s
