Coming from a Metal background I've always tended to care more about the music and the vocals were always kind of secondary as they usually are in extreme Metal. I've also never cared much for production quality and techniques as in Heavy Metal the music is usually centered around the musicians to make the sound and to have it sound live and raw without putting too much emphasis on post production if that makes sense. That being said Vessel and Sleep Token have completely changed how I feel about singing and about music production in general. 🤤 Of course we all know great singers have always brought a lot to music but the amount of effort and stylistic choice Vessel puts in his singing makes me excited about hearing him the way a good guitarist plays. It makes me enjoy the art of singing and want to be a singer even thought I never really thought about it in the past. That to me is a sign of a great artist. And also I think Sleep Token puts a whole new meaning to the term over-produced. Usually for me when bands put too much production in their sound it takes away from the music or you can tell they're doing it to compensate for poor songwriting but the way Sleep Token does it only adds to the music and atmosphere exponentially. Jenna, you touched on an interesting theme that I tend to agree with how they almost have two sides to their music. They have the down-to-Earth, relatable side talking about relationships and bad break ups but then they have this other-wordly, wildly atmospheric side that almost feel spiritual in nature. I think that theme is what they're going for. It fits the whole ambiance of Sleep and the cult like personas and really demonstrates how post production can add to music instead of take away from it is what I'm getting at. Not only great musicians but they're masters at atmosphere, similar to the way a film team creates a great movie that transports you to that world. That's what Sleep Token to me does best and these are all signs of great, conscious artists. Keep vanquishing it Jenna and check out Ascensionism next if you can you'll dig it. 👍 Also let me get my Unleash the Archers request in, Tonight We Ride. 😛🤘 Take care
Wow, well said! Love that. And I agree, the voice is definitely an instrument that can be used to increase the storytelling and enhance the music. Very cool you’re more interested in that aspect now! Definitely down for Ascenionism. And definitely down for more UTA! Woo. 🎉 Thank you for the kind comment! You take care too!
@@KoalityReactionsSorry been busy went on a hunting trip right after I left that comment lol wasn't ignoring your response. Yes I have a whole new respect for singing. There's so much nuanced sound we can do with our voices it's really awesome when you really dive deep. 🙏💜
Beautiful building of the song 👏 Great pick, Jenna! TYSM! Also, I like the fact that you are basically going deeper on the great rabbit's hole you discovered with us.❤
First time I heard this it was Will Ramos’s cover, I then just had to listen to the original - both have their own pro’s and con’s but on balance I preferred the original, that said I think you should listen to Will’s version even if it’s just out of curiosity. Nice run down and reaction as always 🌹
Very cool band, very influenced by my ears anyway by TOOL, getting harder and harder to be original these days seeing as everything's pretty much been done, but some bands and artists continue to surprise me.
You don't really need to check out Will's cover of this song because vessel sings it the best but checkout Lorna Shore and Will's one take performances of their songs.
@@KoalityReactions Will Ramos one take performance. Just pick one and you will be amazed. I'm not not a fan of his band or him but the dude is ridiculous. Also keep in mind they are in the death metal /deathcore genre. I'm sure I'll be corrected on that by someone in here.
Next reaction you should check out Ascensionism. Absolutely banger of a song. All the emotions.
For me Euclid and Take me back to Eden aswell as Ascensionism are must watch. Absolute 10/10 Songs

I love this song, one of the things I really love is the blues/gospel tone in Vessels vocals. It feels like a sermon.

There are really no cons at all to this original song, it's absolutely perfect

Just love this 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Should check out Will Ramos's (Lorna Shore) cover of this 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Why all he did was imitate the song. Didnt even put his own mark on the song. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery 😮
Its a ohmage to the God of Sleep. That is what the song is about
Rain and granite are worth a listen
Aqua regia is next
What genre is Sleep Token?
Sleep Token: Yes
You should give Rain a try. It's my favorite i think. (It's hard to choose :D)
👍
I think you would also like Tesseract, try Legion from their latest album and if you feel really adventurous then Reptile by Periphery is a ride.
will u react to october ends dark?

Sleep Tokens entire catalogue is of love, pain and loss. The "lore" is just to connect the audience. This song is about a woman.
No, this Song is not about a women
You are very beautiful 💚
I LOVE ST but it was the drummer that drew me in.
