Totally agree with you. This game was outstanding. I loved it. So sad we lost Harold. Truly is. Great video. Always Loved The Ghostbusters and I always will. It is Canon to me
I dont care what Ivan and Jason Reitman said. If Dan Aykroyd said its a continuation of the films then im taking his word over theirs. After all, Ghostbusters is HIS and Harold Ramis' creation
@@chefboyardee4674 Dana and Peter being married (implied they have been together since 1989) and in the game he is trying to date Alyssa. Shandors skull is in central park in the game yet in Afterlife his skull is in his head in Summerville. Shandor becoming a god turning his back on Gozer and destroying Gozer in the game yet clearly didnt happen in universe as Shandor is still devoted to Gozer and was then ripped in half by it never attaining godhood as well as Gozer still existing. Just for starters but those are pretty big issues that show the game and movie cannot coexist as canon.
Yes, it is still coming and given that there's a whole ghostbuster multi.Verse I can see between the game and the new movies splitting off in two directions as some sort of dimensional shift because of the gate opening it up and screwing things up
I think with Shandor it could be that they crossed the streams to stop him, so not entirely killing his spirit. Gozer comes back in Afterlife, and in the original they crossed the streams to stop him. Maybe in Afterlife, Shandor thought he was too weak, so he turned back to Gozer. Why else would Gozer rip him in half in Afterlife? Shandor was one of Gozer's most faithful worshippers.
True. If they hard enough the video game can fit into the current film canon. It could be why Ray and the others didn't believe Egon as well. "We already defeated Gozer twice, and Shandor when he tried to do things himself. There's no way anything Gozerian is going to happen again with both of them out of the picture Spengy. Now stop overthinking it and let's get a slice, I'm starving."
Also true. They did their jobs a bit too well. I would have almost expected that if things did dry up like that then Venkman would have suggested making a Jurassic Park for ghosts.
The extreme Ghostbusters DVDs just arrived so a watchthrough is definitely in order. It might be a bit before I dive into the animated stuff though for the channel. With it still being such a new channel I don't want to oversaturate with just Ghostbusters content and make people think that's all I do 😂
Something I’ve always wanted was an animated movie adaptation of this game. Sadly, I’m not an animator, and anyone who is just doesn’t know how good of an idea it is.
Idc what Reitmann says, the video game is canon. The only inconsistencies come in once you factor in details from Afterlife like Shandor's body being in stasis and him not just being dead. I bought it for my Switch just to play it again i loved it so much when it first released.
I can’t tell you how many times I played this video game it’s just so much fun new equipment you get to encounter new locations a new ghost enemies entities and boss fights. This is Ghostbusters 3 I don’t care what anyone says and like you said the only problem I have with this video game is Peter getting into a bit of a relationship with Alyssa but I did not know that Sigourney Weaver Said no and wasn’t going to be in until of course she found out that Bill Murray was going to reprise his role that’s a shame.
Shandor and Gozer’s appearances in Afterlife doesn’t hurt the canon of the game at all. People keep saying “but they killed Shandor in the game.” No, they didn’t. Shandor was already dead. He’s a ghost. All they did was destroy his destructor form. They destroyed Gozer’s destructor form and she still pops up in Afterlife. Shandor’s Afterlife appearance is also ripped straight from the game. The game works fine with the films. Some people are strangely passionate about knocking it out of official canon due to their own head canons and they get downright nasty about it, but I guess that’s okay because being miserable and treating other people like dirt is every New Yorker’s, and I guess every person’s, god given right.
No, its a great game but would not have translated well into a movie due to its length. Could they have made it canon? Sure, but the studio chose to go the other route and make it an alternate reality.

I agree.
Well the problem with that is the inconsistencies making that not possible. The game isnt canon and was retconned into an alternate universe.
@youknow9092 well what are they?

This idea definitely shouldve been the third film and the rookie shouldve been Oscar.

Also, in Afterlife, Ray says things went slow. During the credits in the video game, Ray said things will get slow.@@ProfessorEclipse

Great video! History, and behind the scenes of Extreme Ghostbusters then 2016.

the only decent thing about 2016 is slimee has a gf .
Given the plot of this game, it should be the SECOND film (or at least a replacement for it, as it has a better plot than that film.)
I'm kinda glad danna wasn't in it
