I've been on the job for 28 years, every single Firefighter, let alone Fire Chief I've worked with and for, knows inside and out of how water gets to the hydrant and where it comes from. It's the absolute most basic information of how hydrants work and how the municipality provides water pressure. When the "Chief" said that, it floored me! You have no business being in charge of a fire service without knowing the basics.

The city and the fire department have to inspect all fire hydrants and water reserves annually per the NFPA. Also, the city public works is responsible for proper maintenance of all fire hydrants and water reserves. This is undeniable, and this standard goes for every municipality across the nation.
I was a firefighter for 34 years and I have worked with women in the fire service, and it has been my experience that the majority of women do not belong in the firefighting profession.

That’s why we do what we do and the public depends on us. You aren’t notified in advance. And then for her to throw her firefighters under the bus!? Bottom line, you can’t fight a fire without water! Every drop of rain that falls in the L.A. Basin that does not fall on open or landscaped ground or into an actual reservoir is sent to the L.A. River and right on out to the Pacific Ocean. No plan or method to save a single drop, it's been that way for decades because they got their water from Mono Lake which they destroyed or from the California Aquaduct which is now not pumping water because of the Delta Smelt a worthless little fish that migrated to the intake area because they like the faster water flow.
As a 25 year firefighter you as the chef should have known there was no water in the hydrants, we tested every single hydrant in. Our city 2 times a year so you suck at your job and should be fired and held accountable for the loss of property and life

I was a firefighter for 34 years and I have worked with women in the fire service, and it has been my experience that the majority of women do not belong in the firefighting profession.
As a REAL woman, I agree 100%. I believe it all started when men let us vote. Of course there are exceptions, but almost every woman alive has no business being policeMEN, or fireMEN.

We intentionally go into the “wrong place” to save civilians that happen to be be trapped in the “wrong place”. At times we get in trouble in those bad places and need assistance. That was one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard from someone in the fire service.

I have lived in Los Angeles all 58 years of my life and I don’t know anyone that voted for these people. Elections have been stolen for decades here now. I can’t imagine who is still voting for people like Maxine Waters, who has not said a word about these fires.

Lady, as the LA fire chief you absolutely should know how the water gets to the fire hydrants! You should know everything about the water supply system, including its status!

@@redrustyhill2 They stopped doing the annual hydrant checks to save money. But she did have plenty of money to do DEI training. All of that is on HER.
@carly4513 a fire chief isnt in charge of hydrants or the water supply, you obviously don't understand how the system(s) work.
@@redrustyhill2 I'm grateful that I live in a town where the fire dept does check hydrants annually. The water dept checks and cleans the hydrants semi-annually and would certainly notice if no water is flowing. Guess I'm lucky, but I'm positive that my Fire Dept's first priority isn't DEI. Things may be different where you live, but I won't accuse you of not knowing how your system(s) work.

Chief Crowley's visible frustration is understandable.
The Mayor should know that ocean water CAN be used to fight fires (says shipping, firefighting channels, 2024).

She wanted the job of chief, but she just didn't want to actually DO the job and that's really the most important part. Shouldn't the chief of all people, know where the water comes from for their hydrants? But, she says that she doesn't know how the hydrants are supplied. Maybe she thinks unicorns and rain fairies supply it on demand.
