With the repeat in the first movement, which was not as frequent at that time

A very reliable source thinks the orchestra is the Graz Philharmonic...conductor unknown. He links this with several minor labels with connections to Vox (which might mean Horenstein) and Omega, and others. Lots of recordings like this were circulated on several labels under pseudonymous conductors and orchestra. All that said, this really is a damned fine recording of this work.

I don't think this is Horenstein conducting, he rarely did no. 2 and there is no indication that he ever recorded it in the studio. There is a live recording from Venezuela which is very different.

@@mishoren Is there really a recording of Beethoven's 2nd Symphony with Horenstein? And would it be possible to publish it?

A very decent performance conducted presumably by Jascha?

Could be but as far as I know Jascha Horenstein never recorded Beethoven no. 2 in a studio, only live, and that one is very different from this one.

@@jean-yvesdelafosse7510 : ) I guess this because of the sound of the oboe, the excellent string section and Barbirolli had a keen ear for orchestral effect, which so many conductors today can't do to save their lives. Whoever it is, they're very, very good.

@@barney6888 I share ! They are very good and the tempo is pulsatile, especially in the final movement. I like it ! And I think that I have the LP since the seventies in my collection in a French edition. I have to look after somwherre in my country house : I shall tell U when I'll get it.
