I have had the base model now for 4.500 km. Paid 31.800.- € with pearl effect paint job as option. A comparable VW Golf would cost 10.000.- more. I got one of the few which were on offer - Honda seems to be unhappy with the German/Austrian market and does not supply many. I am really happy with it. In Winter I was driving short distances and the consumption was 6 l/100 km (you may convert if you like). But in town with a warm engine it can do with less than 3 l. Warranty in Austria 10 years!!!! Honda provided fantastic leasing and insurance. Best car deal I ever made.

Nice! I've had mine since 12th of October and have put 25100km on it since then. Sadly in Gibraltar (where I bought my car from), they only have a 3 year warranty. My previous KIA Cee'd had a 7 year warranty. I paid £25995 (~€29100) for the Sport trim in Premium Crystal Blue.

I’ve had mine for a month now and I love it, it’s very quick off the mark and very fuel efficient. I agree with you about the charging mat being slippery but since I have a cover on my phone, it sits perfectly. One correction I’ll make is that the boot mat is an optional extra. Great review.

    • @flamingspinach
      @flamingspinach Рік тому +5

The 2023 Prius has a great solution to the charging mat slipping problem. The wireless charger is a vertical slot in the center armrest area which you drop your phone into, rather than a horizonal pad you place the phone on. There are spring-loaded calipers inside that adjust to the size of your phone so it doesn't slip forward and backwards either. The only way the phone can be dislodged by the motion of the car is if the car suddenly jolts vertically, and hopefully that's going to be pretty rare since most people aren't going to be driving on really bumpy roads at high speeds.

To complain about grease in the door handles is a bit stupid - you might not like seeing it but it's there for a specific reason, and every single time the car is serviced they should reapply it. Sure it might not affect you but if you ever want to see decent examples around in the future it's little details like this that allow that to happen. After all one of the best ways to keep the cars carbon footprint low is for it to simply exist for longer...

Have had my Civic for 3 months now....and am seriously impressed. I traded in a 5 yo Golf GTI hoping it would be similar-ish. The Civic is a step change improvement. It feels spacious, swift and sorted. Ergonomically it's well considered, being practical, tactile and stylish. The hybrid set up delivers plenty of speed efficiently, quietly and with refinement. It sort of out-Golfs the Golf. Only grumbles are the over cautious lane departure system (it doesn't like crossing the centre line when you have to avoid parked cars) and the fuel tank could be bigger. Ps. Loved the Civic review/s Rory.

I fully agree with you. I have the Civic e:hev (actually, it's my wife's car) since the 5th May and the only gripes I have with it are: (i) the (very small) tank capacity, because we do plenty of relatively long highway trips with it; (ii) the lane departure system, really intrusive; and (iii) the quite weak FM tuning system, as it easily looses station signal. Other than that it is proving to be a wonderful car, quite refined, spacious and economical (incredibly economical around town) albeit punchy when needed.

Excellent review of an excellent car!
Most of the "bad"s didn't seem that bad, to me anyway 😊
I'd add a couple of small blobs (of easily removable, at a later stage) of glue from my glue-gun to either the charging tray surface or the back of my phone to (hopefully) eliminate that sliding around issue. I'd also wipe the excess grease from those nasty areas with a degreaser & cloth before you could say John Travolta 😅

  • @damirstimac2837

Having Honda Civic for two months now, I'd add to the "bads" that infotainment system is very glitchy: many times bluetooth disconnects while speaking, won't recognize my USB drive, etc. Furthermore it would be good to have an option to turn off predictive part of cruise control (as I believe American Civics can). Volume of a fuel tank is a bit too small (40l) - however it'll give you 550-650km range. And after all I'd agree that the road noise is the biggest deficiency. All in all I'm very happy with my Civic (fast, and responsive, while economical; comfy seats and ride even on 18" wheels, I feel safe in it; quite unique car). I'm not quite certain about Civic being expensive car: finding a hatchback with the equivalent power and equipment would probably set you off with even higher price.

I wish more reviewers would comment on the approach angle of these cars. The front drive cars with their super long front overhang and aggressively styled front bumpers do not give the best approach angle and this can often scrape in multi-level car parks or even some driveways and intersections.
Scrapes underneath the bumper don't bother me per se, but it's the thought of potentially misaligning the bumper that concerns me.

Hopefully the noice insulation will get better with facelift (which Honda improved in several models in the past when post-facelift versions were better). For me the grease is welcome, as it is there to lubricate and protect and I do not touch it to open the door/boot. Would you even be able to hear it or would it even sound nice given that the car only has 1 gear technically? How would it sound for bystanders? I plan on getting this car but i might wanna do something small with the exhaust down the line. I'm watching the video and feedback-ing at the same time. Fuel economy - I've just done a trip from Madrid to Barcelona in mine and the trip computer was 668.8km and I filled up with 31L of petrol. This was at 110km/h on the motorway. Worked out at 61mpgish. I've covered 25150km since the 12th of October.
Speed - I sometimes put my car into sports mode and boot it from traffic lights. I love it.
Lights - I do find them perfect for the job. I find multi-beam a little gimmicky.
Boot - brilliant size for me. I don't mind opening the boot myself. Practicality could do with a chilled glove box for the chocolate bars haha.
Price - I paid £25995 for the Sports trim (all I needed) in Gibraltar. I can't believe how expensive they are in the UK!
Charging unit - I agree. I always use Android Auto, so it's plugged in via cable.
Road noise - I agree. I've been sat in the CR-V hybrid and it's far quieter due to the tyre profiles.
Overall, I fully agree with you. I love my Civic for it's economy and handling. Great fun!

If my financing scheme goes throught, I’m getting either the Sport or the Advance one (I haven’t decided yet - but I’m leaning towards the Advance). My questions to existing owners are:
    1) which winter tyres would be appropriate to maintain the grip of the summer tyres you get it with… hopefully not something excessively expensive.
    2) I would imagine that the relative simplicity of the internal combustion engine’s design and usage (so the fact that it actually drives the wheels quite rarely), and no actual gearbox could also reduce the likelyhood of serious issues affecting the power train, its wear and tear; and that regenerative braking is kinder on the car’s old-school brakes. One would hope this would translate to reduced operating costs. What is the typical stuff they replace during the regular 10,000 km services, and how costly are those??

I test drove the new civic on the basis of this stellar review, and all I can say is "How much did Honda pay you"?
I really wanted to love the car - it reminds me of the Audi A5 that I've long admired.
But this is NOT a good car.
The engine and handling might be great, but the rest of it is very low quality. I wouldn't pay £20,000 for it, let alone the nearly £37,000 price for the entry-level Sport.
For starters, the constant low frequency vibration/ hum of road noise is REALLY loud and you can't wait to get out of the car and enjoy the silence again.
    Other really bad points:
SatNav is something out of the 90s. Often it didn't even map the road I was on!
Reversing camera is so low quality you'd think someone had a sock over the lens.
Voice assist is so poor that you'd never use it - it failed to respond to simple commands like 'play radio 2'.
The coin tray is really scratchy plastic, so they slide noisily about as you drive.
The turning circle is worse than a transit van.
Your title "Worth it?" proves Betteridge's law - any headline ending with a question mark can be answered "no".

I have a 2022 civic sport sedan and I love it but 2 major things I don't like are
1- the heater/defrost is very underpowered, on cold winter days in canada it takes forever to defrost the windshield and there are blind spots on the edges that don't defrost at all.
2- the sound system is terrible. There is absolutely no bass and the rear speakers being in the rear door panels is a huge design flaw. They should have been put in the very back by the rear window for better sound.
