I love that Cole didn't phone it in just because it was a collab. His verses were thought-provoking (his faith, the disrespect he's been shown at times, and how he feels about retiring), and it shows respect to Hobi. I really love this song.
Hobi said he had worked on the Song since October/November, and thought about enlisting when Jin started his Process. Hobi wrote and composed the Song, Pdogg produced it, the Video was filmed a month ago in NY, and they got J-Coles Part 4 Days before the shoot. Hobi was so impressed that Cole put so many feelings into his line, and said it's resembling his emotions too.
Hobi is wearing Military Dog Tags, the Billboard says it's my Call, and it has the Chicken Noodle Car on it as well, people think the memorial is for the Victims of the Halloween Crush in Itaewon. He's walking the road J-Cole walked in his debut Song.
Given his hard work and passion from the bottom to the worldwide top, I'm really happy for him. Now He makes music with his muse, sings together and dances with Jcole's rapping. Happy to see his smile with his admirable artist. His goodbye(for a while) is sad, but he will be back with that smile.
Super proud of our Hoseokie. He made it. He reached the top with his idol.
My first thought also was that the kid was ARMY (as in the astronaut) but someone on twitter brought up the idea that it was his youth that he is saying goodbye to and somehow it made a lot of sense because ARMYs are NOT leaving!😊
OK so 2 observations:
1)The alley Hobi is in at the start is the same alley J.Cole was in for his Simmba MV.
2) Later, during Cole's verse, Hobi is dancing freestyle underground. That's an insane parallel with the start of Hobi's journey! Hobi has said Cole was a huge inspiration to him! Hobi has gone from dancing to J.Cole's music with his underground crew Neuron to dancing to a J.Cole verse ON HIS OWN SONG while LITERALLY UNDERGROUND! AN INSANE JUXTAPOSITION

The subway station where Jhope is dancing is an old subway station that is no longer used, except for filming.
Hobi said in Variety interview - The word “street” bears special meaning to me. It means “street dance” which is my roots as an artist. It’s where my inspirations come from and it symbolizes the path I’ve taken as j-hope.
To me, the street is a place where we can actually encounter and feel the real lives of people: a child’s innocent mind; first encounter with someone and falling in love; someone in an urgent moment; a quarrel; an avoidable breakup, etc. Street is a metaphor for life. Sharing hope and courage to those who are walking through their lives. I want this song to accompany all those who are off to a new start or on a long journey, like a friend 😭💜
Ps: I’m so happy that he is making music with his idol. I especially love Hobi’s whistle and how supportive JCole is with Hobi calling him hyung and all.
I think you're right about the little kid. It's his see you later song like Jin's so I think the kid is Army/the members/family/friends. It would be very sweet if we saw a little kid in all of their goodbye/off to enlist songs. If they all do one, they might not I guess. It's a beautiful, chill, comforting song, imho. Love it.
I saw someone on Twitter saying wait- is this them making a goodbye playlist? 😢 I would love to see a kid in everyone's mv if they go down that route- it's the kind of touching little detail that I can imagine the artistic minds at BH & Lumpens thinking of.
There might be a lot missed but just know J Cole and J Hope together 🏆
