That attachment, in our house, was used on the potatoes to cut and core them. We then seasoned them and baked them for our version of home made fries. Worked great
That attachment is used to decore the apple. And yes, a spiral sliced apple is nice if you are doing a pie, so at the end you just need to cut it in the middle - all slicing is done.
I bought one from Amazon. Just did my 1st two apples. Worked great! Gonna try red potatoes next, but I thought it did a pretty good job in the video with the russet style potatoes. I too don't like peeling apples, pototoes or carrots.
One would use this to core apples for baked apples, applesauce, apple slices for pies, canning, (thought canning apples might be something you'd have done as you're a prepper), etc. Great gadget! I've yet to use mine for potatoes as my hand held peeler makes quick work of that.
Thanks for sharing. Cool and honest video. FYI. Reasons to spiral cut an apple or pear: so you would have nice even slices for snacking, for your dehydrator, to display on a fruit plate, to make easy chunks for pie or cobbler. MarySmiles ;-)
Huh. I have one of these and never thought to use for potatoes. I think the slicing/spiral thing could be useful if you want to make scallop potatoes or something like that - you can just cut one part of the slice to seperate the pieces. I do use the slicing part for apple pie - you can get a lot more apple in the pie use that versus traditional quarters.
Ya ever make an apple pie dude? The spiral slicer is awesome? Great for dipping slices in Carmel sauce sauce too. Hmm! I'm going to slice s apple now!😊
No. The slice/core part is one piece. The potato will core. HOWEVER, it's actually a huge help for making mashed potatoes. I try to cut my potatoes smaller so they boil faster for mashed spuds. Using the attachment, I just toss the sliced potato right in the pot and then cut up the core into a few pieces. Ot takes only a second. They cook in 1/4 of tge time.
You can spiral cut your potatoes for fries too ..just look how quick was able to peel potato..Can't really give semi negative review using just one potato..show how it works on different ones...j/s
Peel a 50 pound bag of potatoes 5 days a week and you get used to peeling fast and without cutting yourself. How do you cut yourself using a peeler like you had? Even the old fashioned all metal peelers were safe. Although I peel my apples and potatoes with a paring knife, it goes faster and if you use the proper technique you do not cut yourself. Working in the kitchen is all about cleanliness and safety. Maybe you should stick to buying canned potatoes that are already peeled?
So your advice is to either start peeling 250 pounds of potatoes every week, or only used canned potatoes. What if there were some middle ground, like say... I peel potatoes whenever I need potatoes peeled just like I've always done.
@@GreatLakesPreppingSorry, I didn't mean to imply I was giving you advice. I certainly did not mean to sound like that, I meant to sound like I was making fun of you because this was ridiculous.

It doesn’t just spiral cut the apple, it also removes the core of the apple when it’s pushed through the circle piece.
I have one of those and I’ve only used it for apples but I love it! It works fabulously for me. I may try it for potatoes.
Just bought two of these from different consignment stores, for $5 each. I'm going to use one for apples and the other for potatoes. 😎
Thanks for the demo. I'm buying one in the morning..

Thanks Mary!
Your peeler blade is adjustable too.
If you cut the spiral in half you have sliced apples for pie etc.

thanks for sharing.....i have this peeler for about 10 years and i never realized i could remove that spiral attachment. much obliged.
The spiral cutting attachment also cores the apple. It's excellent if you're making pie filling.
Wow,it did a pretty great job
The attachment is also for making curly fries...
Thanks, Great Lakes.
The slicing is great for sliced apples and potatoes. Just quarter the potato or apple for perfect slices.

I have actually used this thing for apple pie in the time since I made this video. It's pretty handy!
Oh wow it can do all that!? Sweet!
I had to share this video. It could be very helpful!
Can you slice the potatoes without coring them. That’s the question.
Did u get a answer lol im here for that reason

No that’s the answer 😊
The corer can come off its just held on by a butterfly screw
I "think" that gadget makes apple slices, not spiral cuts. Thank you, helpful and quick video! 🥔🍎
a real prepper dehydrate flat pieces of apple :P
Don't peel the potatoes, just scrub them. I use the apple machine to slice them. Cook as fries in an air fryer, or scalloped potatoes.
The attachment is to core an apple
It spirals the and cores the Apple
My box states that it's an Apple Peeler. That's what I have ever used it for.
Spiral?

Just eat the skins. That's where all the vitamins are.
Hubs and I have been effing around with this peeler and wasted 6 apples. It's a piece of crap.
It works just put your 🧠 to work
