10:00 I think it is fair to say that no one who spoke has a grasp on what Angel Island represented or why it was there. You all need to read some history about the Exclusion Act and anti-Chinese agitation and expulsions of Chinese from over 200 towns and cities throughout the West during the 19th Century. Angel Island was "positive" the same way Gitmo is positive.

3:20 Completely erroneous. The answer is: if you were Asian (particularly Chinese), you went to Angel Island. Even if you had your papers in order, if you were Chinese you were subjected to humiliating medical exams, family separation and extensive interrogation. Maybe read Lee/Yung Angel Island or At America's Gates before commenting. Angel Island was designed to keep people OUT, Ellis Island was designed to facilitate the entry of Europeans. Even returning US citizens were subjected to detention on Angel Island and forced to prove their right to enter the US.

The best Chinese restaurants in San Francisco are not in Chinatown.
