Great vid man. I am in the same boat. I am not an anime guy, but I couldn't ignore the near perfect rated episodes. Watched it three times now. In my opinion this is up there with Breaking Bad, The Wire, and Chernobyl.

@@enrz23 I feel like season 2 is very underrated. It’s second on my list after season 4. Most people would place season 3 in front of season 2 and even season 4. It’s cool to see you have the same appreciation I do for season 2. It’s shorter but has lots of great moments still
I don’t believe humanity will ever experience a story as well told as attack on titan. It’s a shame so many people reject jumping into the story because it’s an anime.

Oh, and as you asked... I'm almost exclusively a manga reader, AoT is my favorite story and is the only one I was actively following, so take it with a grain of salt. Death Note has some glaring flaws, but is a classic for a reason. JJK is a story that I never warmed up to; this might be something where the fight animation really helps but reading it I didn't care much for the story. I'd probably also recommend Vinland Saga, as it's interesting to compare with AoT as they're in some ways similar but end up going different routes, and the authors (Isayama and Yukimura) are fans of each other, have done joint interviews, etc.
My only complaint with AoT is that there's NOT ENOUGH filler. I want to spend so much more time with so many other characters. Give me 3 episodes a season of just Hitch and Marlowe or Kaya and Sasha's dad. Let me see the OG Levi squad just sitting around a campfire and telling stories in the form of flashbacks. It honestly feels like the show is TOO efficient with its storytelling. Even the downtime is a calculated segue into even more intense scenes of all-encompassing importance

The AoT ending is probably the worst ending in fiction for me. Retcons, character assassinations and plot holes. Erens character was absolutely butchered and retconned

That was a shadow veneer for mikasa to shoehorn her into the ending. Ymir fritz character was connected to freckless ymir, historia and eren
