    When you were comparing the noises they make when tapping them together... Wouldn't tapping on the glass jar make a ting ting sound because of the thin glass and it being hollow? Like.. if you had a big thick chunk of glass sitting there and you tapped on it, would that also make a ting ting noise? I would have guessed no, I'd say it'd be a lot deeper sound

    When I look through my clear quartz pyramid it shows a rainbow around objects.Is it fake?

    • @emsastrogems
      @emsastrogems  5 років тому +1

      This maybe due to light refraction. When light hits a transparent object on an angle, it causes the light to bend which then splits the light into its seven various colours. I imagine this is what is causing your rainbow effect. So if your pyramid has passed all the other quartz tests, then I would say it's real.

  • @almostthere2516
    @almostthere2516 2 роки тому

    Very useful, but I was surprised you only had polished and cut crystal points, and no real ones. The energy from a naturally formed crystal quartz is actually so much more vibrant than those artificially cut into a point. Probably because when they get a huge block of quartz, they do not mind in which direction they cut it into points. There is something very off with crystals like that.
    The way you can see if you got a real crystal point that Mother Earth grew like a point, or a crystal point cut by man into a point, is looking at the edges. In China where they manufacture these, they are in a hurry, so the edges will be all over the place. Secondly the edges are too sharp. Like on your video. While natural ones also are sharp, they are not that sharp.
    I hope you get hold of a real authentic crystal that has not been cut, polished, tumbled and feel the difference. It is quite remarkable!

    If the sides look mirror-polished, it might be real quartz, but it's polished into shape and that is obviously cheating. Natural quartz will never have such surfaces.
    Fakeries can be made out of real quartz by melting and pouring into moulds, essentially making fused quartz, polishing the surfaces into hexagons and smacking the bottoms to make internal cracks. I think you actually have some such pieces in the video.

    What I don't like about your video is you don't tell us if you're showing us fake crystals or real crystals. Honestly some of the clearer quartz I thought you said were real were really fake looking or they were amazing specimens. Ones I've never came across. I also noticed that the sides looked machined flat. All the quartz I come across has imperfectly flat sides sort of. Almost like it was perfectly flat but then it crunched in on itself ever so slightly and left the flatness sort of sheared but just barely noticeably imperfect. It's hard to explain but I think you know what I mean. Also a lot of the quartz I come across has some evidence of iron deposits and it usually is an orangish color and atleast in some small spots has sunk into the stone and can't be polished off the surface.

      Cool video though. I learned a few things. Thank you.

      Thank you for your comments. The purpose of this video was purely about trying to distinguish the difference between glass/lead crystal fakes against highly cut and polished pieces of clear quartz, where everything is smoothed out with precision. I showed the high quality specimens to emphasise this and to show that clear quartz can look very similar to glass or lead crystal fakes which have come on to the market. I haven't shown any natural quartz, freshly pulled out of the earth (as I think you seem to be describing), as that was not the point of this video.
      As you are already aware, clear quartz can have iron deposits, but this is often cleaned off in an oxalic acid bath to remove any orange staining for those crystal collectors who like their quartz looking pristine.
