I cook for a living and when someone likes something I make, I give them the recipe if they ask for it. Because they’ll never make it exactly the way that I do. Just like I don’t cook exactly like another chef.
So know this… we thank you for sharing these techniques. Maybe we’ll as good as you one day, but it helps us all knowing your process.

Fantastic video as usual. I'm just starting leather working at 72 for a good hobby. I just received your deluxe tooling kit today; and i also just ordered your finish products kit. I received Weavers beginner's stitching kit just the other day also. I think I'm just about ready to get a belt blank and have a go at making myself a nice belt. Keep those videos coming; I'll need them!

Love your videos! One important dyeing tip that really helped me (you also shared it in another video) when I started about nine years ago was to start application in a wider area to work off the bleed a little bit, then hit the narrow spaces and corners. I agree with your recommendation of the Pro dye, as opposed to the "standard" dye, which tends to rub off, especially in black. I haven't used the foam brush for applying in wide areas, but I'll give that try. Like you, I find oiling after all the coloring is done works better than applying before, especially when painting (I sometimes apply somewhat diluted Angelus for a first coat so that it penetrates the leather or when fading between colors). I'm impressed that the Resolene didn't smear the antique stain from the cracks over the flat areas. Did you let the stain dry a bit before applying the Resolene? Of course, like you said, there's more than one way to accomplish the same result. Keep up the great work!

I‘m just getting started with the Leather Craft and I watch your videos and they really are super and helpful! 👍Thank you!
One Question I do have. I use Leather Dye from Fiebings instead of the Pro Dye. When I put the Pro Resist on the Leather the Dye does come a little bit off.
Which is not that big of a problem. But when I put Antique Finish on their, it wont stay in the deeps of my Tooling or Stamps when I wipe it off.
What could it be that I’m doing wrong here?

One question I saw, but wasn't answered is...
Does the Antique go bad or expire?
Also, is it helpful, or does it hinder, by putting 2 or more coats of the final Resolene as a sealer? Thank you for any advice, especially on the last question. Also, thank you so much for showing your process. Ive seen DG Saddelrys process, as well as a few others and it's neat to see different approaches and results. Thank you for cutting down on my learning curve. Great video!...

Hi Joe, sorry I missed you live. Had to pick up my Granddaughter from riding lessons. Great session as always, thank you. Not trying to reinvent the wheel, but can I use RTC Sheridan in place of the Resolene for both the resist and finish? Two reasons: 1) I already have the RTC, but more importantly, 2) I want to be able to be recondition the leather in the future, probably with Neatsfoot Oil. The Resolene will prevent the Neatsfoot from penetrating the leather. OR Do you have a way to recondition the leather sealed with Resolene? Oiling through the back may work, but the oil may seep out and ruin some clothing, plus I don't know if you can do that with a lined belt. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.
