Great review Cody! TF AA is a great resinous scent, one of the best private blends from the original releases... A shame it was discontinued, one wonders why, if it was just a matter of lack of sales or because it was expensive to produce...?! Definitely love this one, extremely powerful!
Although I completely disagree with the 6-10 rating (granted its yours so it not wrong) I think you hit this one on the head! Personally I think it deserves a 10-10 for its versatility, its outstanding performance, and uniqueness. Although it can be VERY overpowering, it's definitely going to make you smell different from the crowd.
Cody, I glad to see that did a review on the Amber Absolute and ur right it is hard to wear on its own. I found that by layering it with a softer fragrance like Cuba Gold took away some of the intensity and came off pretty well at work. The one thing that attracted me to this A.A. is that it smelled similar to Dunhill Pursuit which is now discontinued and I wore about 8-10 years ago but it can be purchased online. But if you really like A.A. and want to get a sweater more versatile version I would get a decant of Tom Ford Plum Japonais but the drawback is that unless someone is in your surrounding space the projection is not that great. It will become a guilty pleasure because the scent will stay with you for quite some time. Best used on a date night where the person will be near you most of the time. Not good for work because the only person who will smell you is you. Sorry to be long winded but I enjoy all three of these fragrances.
You REALLY have to love amber and vanilla to enjoy this one. It's not subtle in any way. However there's no question of the quality in this. Very nice review Cody.
i enjoyed this one but now when it is dicontinued, not gonna chase it for too crazy prices, cause id have a hard time to wear it often and i dont want it just to be sitting around
This aroma is rich, dense, and expansive in sillage and projection. Not for most men. For some - those with money, with panache, with superlative style sense. Not for timid soy boys. Amber Absolute is the quintessential amber that reminds one of a royal palace smoking lounge. Not wearable all of the time, but wearable when you want to dominate seductively and successfully. Poets, leaders, kings, alphas, men-of-money - wear this masculine, sexy, dramatic scent.
You have a pretty decent following and I hope you take advantage of this and open a fragrance shop at some point in your life (assuming you haven't already). Being that you have been pretty helpful I would gladly shop at your shop.
I just got a 10mL decant of this... I do agree that it is quite unwearable -- I was trying to think where I might wear this, but it's too strong/bold to wear just kicking back with friends, same for school, I personally think it could be too obtrusive at work (I personally wouldn't mind it on someone else, but that's not really saying much). I have two thoughts... the first is, that maybe this is better suited on a certain style/looking girl... or, maybe this is optimal for extremely cold weather where its bold uniqueness is heavily subdued by the cold? Not sure. Either way, definitely glad to have 10mL of this to appreciate on my own!
dracdoc A slight update... I am loving it tonight on a warmer, relaxed/subdued night... sort of like along the same vibe as The One on a warm night or something. Hitting the spot pretty nicely!
nice review cody as usual, tom ford private blend are the best beside Dior Privee Collection. I'd like to know what are the top 3 for the best masculine perfumes, thank u.
Not to be that guy, but I'm pretty sure that Tom Ford isn't the actual perfumer. Sure he has the power to direct, but they're really secretive with publicly releasing the perfumers' name to the public. Not sure why, I mean I could be wrong, but I know other private blends have been creation's of others, not being Tom Ford.
WildDoveX But, these guys, hop around from house to house. My initial thought is he wanted the image to be focused solely on Tom Ford, to mention another, perhaps they think would take away from that.
to be honest, this is really annoying. i like your videos cody, but how can you say "the parfumer obv. is tom ford for this one" when this guy never EVER EVER created one single fragrance? he is a fashion designer, not a biochemist. plus: whats up with the whole "oh they dont release the perfumers name"? in this case its Christophe Laudamiel who also did fierce for A&F. you just have to use google to get this information. that being said: i really enjoy your videos, keep it up! ;)
This is the most disgusting scent I have ever smelled nothing else even comes close, was so disappointed when I got my 10ml decant,on the other hand tuscan leather is my all time fav,thx doc

Thank you Cody for your take on AA. One of the original lineup and one of the best of that lineup.

OOOH good one! Bugger that it's discontinued. Interesting, thanks.
I can’t believe tom ford discontinued this. Absolutely the best amber I’ve ever smelt and one of the best in the private blend line. 5 out of 5

Where can I buy Amber absolute?

AA is too strong for me, but I know three other women who put it among their Top 5.

true
Most likely thats the case, but until they officially say otherwise, im sticking with Tom Ford. What they choose to release is their prerogative.
Tom Ford may not want his perfumers sought after by other houses
