The world state, narrowing it down to 3 choices that are mainly from Trespasser has been highly controversial. The majority of fans agree that all of the choices in the keep would be impossible to keep track of going forward. However, there are choices made in past games that directly effect certain characters (Varric, Morrigan, the Inquisitor) and the Thedas as a whole (The Hero of Ferelden/the 5th Blight). Will they address those choices in a different way or are they just retconning everything? I'm asking this because Bioware used to be very conscientious on player choice (The Dragon Keep) , if they are going to ignore past player choices, how can any player new or old trust them not to do this again?

I prefer open world 2 but bioware doesn't seem to know how to fill those world with meaningful and interesting quest which was the main issue in inquisition
Because it is something that was criticized in Inquisition, and now they have returned to the smaller and more linear maps like DA2 or Origins, and more detailed, hopefully. There is nothing wrong, on the contrary, they have listened to the feedback. I am curious to see how the game will be on nightmare difficulty without being able to control other characters, we will have to play a lot dodging hits and doing combos..
the combat is just pure multiplwayer layered, they didnt want to remake a new sistem for it, at least thats what i think, after scratch the MP version of the game (even though what they say that it was too early on the development). Never the less i do love the combat, its so good and finaly fluid.
The weapons do not appear on the cutscenes? Why would they do that? What year is this? Many older games could do that, why would they not do this now? It breaks the immersion.
Even with the new leadership at Bioware, they inherently aren't the issue with a lot of the unwarranted changes. It's EA that has forced a lot of the nonsense that has watered down Bioware's projects (since 2009). With that said, I still think that Bioware makes some of the best western RPGs in the industry.
ok so something i noticed with Veilguard and i hope other party based rpgs do this is that during really big moments like hunting that blight dragon your entire party is with you during the cutscene until the fight. I love that unlike in inquisition when you hunt a dragon for the first time or do the big grey warden mission some party members like iron bull comment like they were there but i didn't take them with me. Little things like that i love.
I think that may have been more due to technical restrictions. Characters need to look better in cut scenes & having the full party there would have used a lot of extra resources.
I like the Dragon Age series a lot and a lot of people that are complaining aren’t remembering Dragon Age 2 and how that was. The missions, same locations just at different times, and the character’s hands lmao. I’m looking forward to this can’t make a judgement since I haven’t played it yet but I’m very interested. Seeing factions we haven’t gotten to tangle with up close it will be refreshing!
As a person who has played almost every BioWare title, I was extremely worried about this game. DA:O and 2 were each great in their own ways, but DA:I’s open world style made me begin losing interest in the franchise. And after Anthem and ME:Andromeda(which both still had their good parts) I wasn’t sure if BioWare would ever stop letting EA control how they made their games. After the hands on footage was released a couple weeks back I have been ridiculously excited for this game, and eager to see BioWare flexing their RPG muscles again. Preordered the Deluxe edition. I am looking forward to this game almost as much as I was for FF7:Rebirth and Horizon:FW. Guess we will know in a month.
I feel that BioWare is under a level of scrutiny it doesn't deserve. What a lot of people have to realize is that companies must evolve and change to stay relevant. Sometimes that's a good thing and sometimes it's a bad thing but change must happen. In order for new growth and development. I fervently feel that when this game is officially out and more people play it. Experiencing what you guys have already seen and played. People are going to love Veilguard. Excellent video. I look forward to your next. 🥰
@wraithflaire1639 You're entitled to how you feel. Hopefully, one day, you'll give Veilguard to try and see if it's not as bad as you think. Take care.
I'm still buying it bc I'm a huge dragon age fan and do me it seems fun but I don't think it going to be on the level as dragon age inquisiton tho wish they kept it how dragon age inquisition was

being told sorry but we decided we are going to half ass everything so none of the choices we made in any of the other games mattered at all because they decided to say screw the other games let's do what ever.
Swen Vincke likes this. Meanwhile, Dragon Age is finally starting to compete with just about any cinematic action/adventure game that's incorporated RPG elements since. It's funny considering that DA had outsold Mass Effect right with Origins. At some point there's gonna be a market correction. It's when analysts may realize that they're all competing for roughly the same audience. And when publishers note that they have to produce something exceptional to stand out from a really busy crowd. Whilst that Belgium dude in armor fighting the RPG fight can just show up and draw some attention all by hisself.
Mission base level gets boring fast not enough exploration, replay value or back track to test out new builds, I prefer semi open world games for looting and exploration like Borderlands 3 game
the fact that we now know that only 3 choice going matter, this it another red flag, first they come out and said we can't control our companions, the game look cheap and other, this game being get backlash which it deserver, I play all 3 game and I was look forward this game, I hope the gameplay it actually good and the story got be good to make up all the shit

So let me get this straight if you already played dragon age, the inquisition all the choices you made in the game you can import over correct? And if you haven’t played the game, you’ll just make it based off limited options
There is no import from previous games in Veilguard. You are only allowed to choose what happened at the end of the Trespasser DLC in the Character Creator.
You do know that the sims is made by a completely different company than dragon age right? EA doesn't make either of the games. They just published them
i just really don't like the look of this. the artstyle is weird, the neon is annoying, the UI/HUD is ugly, the characters seem dull and cliche, the music is meh, its like Disney made DA in the Fortnite engine. There's no soul
I can see how the arstyle might seem weird because of how dragon age usually is, but not having soul is a very weird critique that I haven't heard and don't think is true
It's important to please fans... it's MORE important to just make a great game... Some fans are going to love it. Others will hate it. Thus far the only gripe I have is I'm not super interested in the romance options. There's only one I'm vibing with so far, but we'll see when the game comes out.
Firstly, the game looks like it was made in unity engine. They f-ed up the graphics real bad. Secondly, they took away the fun of real dragon age. The party play. In previous game I could actually switch between different party members depending on the enemies, there was a bit of strategizing tougher fights, now it is gone completely. Well done bioware. I hope you will stop ruining our favorite series. First Mass Effect Andromeda and now Dragon Age Veilguard. Congrats!
I never really cared for the party play tbh but each to their own, as for the graphics they are around average nothing great but not bad either, plus the gameplay is a lot better than it was in previous dragon age games
@@plutton9762 With respect, it's been ten years my guy. Three games, hundreds of choices. It's a mighty if not highly impossible task to accomplish. I am curious to see how the game will be on nightmare difficulty without being able to control other characters, we will have to play a lot dodging hits and doing combos..
7:44 so the veilguard takes place 8 years after the events of inquisition. i wonder why there is such a large gap of time
the combat is just pure multiplwayer layered, they didnt want to remake a new sistem for it, at least thats what i think, after scratch the MP version of the game (even though what they say that it was too early on the development).
Never the less i do love the combat, its so good and finaly fluid.
The weapons do not appear on the cutscenes? Why would they do that? What year is this? Many older games could do that, why would they not do this now? It breaks the immersion.
BioWare never does this.
So… you can’t choose the Inquisitor’s class? She’s a hunter now? Come on…
ok so something i noticed with Veilguard and i hope other party based rpgs do this is that during really big moments like hunting that blight dragon your entire party is with you during the cutscene until the fight. I love that unlike in inquisition when you hunt a dragon for the first time or do the big grey warden mission some party members like iron bull comment like they were there but i didn't take them with me. Little things like that i love.
I think that may have been more due to technical restrictions. Characters need to look better in cut scenes & having the full party there would have used a lot of extra resources.
big missions having all the companions is so nice!
Take care.
Oof that foreground gaussian blur at 4:33 looks awful. Hopefully the game will have some option to replace it with bokeh.
I hope we can turn off these annoying hit points and the stupid glow effects on the items/characters.
I know you can turn off all the glow effects but I don’t know about the hit points
Yes, you can turn off both. Watch the Playstation State of Play reveal from a day or two ago. The dragon fight has almost everything turned off.
@@virginiamurr3703 Really?? That's a relief. Thank you!
@@cookielover1984 No problem!
@@JD-uk-somerset Great, thanks! 👍
Cool video, but why not in 4k?
I'm still buying it bc I'm a huge dragon age fan and do me it seems fun but I don't think it going to be on the level as dragon age inquisiton tho wish they kept it how dragon age inquisition was
Am looking forward to this one.
Thank you Zoe and Bertie for the Dragon Age content!
I didn't know one of the 7 details we need to know is THE BLOODY PINNACLE OF THE FIRST ACT - Please don't just throw heavy spoilers in like that, this absolutely sucks! Wish I never came across this video, so f**king sad, seriously...
That's why choices exist. Make a different choice
I'm 1sec into this video, so I guess I won't watch any more if it really spoils such a moment.
@@SabiJD They don't even give any sorta warning beforehand, so yeah, better don't :/
being told sorry but we decided we are going to half ass everything so none of the choices we made in any of the other games mattered at all because they decided to say screw the other games let's do what ever.
Biggest question, can we take off Neve’s awful hat?
She has multiple outfits.
the fact that we now know that only 3 choice going matter, this it another red flag, first they come out and said we can't control our companions, the game look cheap and other, this game being get backlash which it deserver, I play all 3 game and I was look forward this game, I hope the gameplay it actually good and the story got be good to make up all the shit
@@wraithflaire1639 same here, this a big red flag alot of us look forward each game cause our choice matter now they said only 3 matter, alot of people who been play all 3 game going reject this game
I love dragon age universe and want to play in that world whenever I can get the chance.
Honestly the more i learn of this game the Less i want to play it....Seems like wait for sale or complete edition in a few years.
The game has a lot less player choices
Tf is that rook 🤣 who agreed on that look for this video fire them 😭
Super ugly. Looks like a worthog
I'm excited to play this new Sims 3 expansion. The timing is odd, though.
Oh you're so funny and original
I like The Sims 3, 2 was my favorite tho
You do know that the sims is made by a completely different company than dragon age right? EA doesn't make either of the games. They just published them
Why is Bertie not narrating his own videos?
Bertie's a writer & editor. The video team are video producers and hosts.
i just really don't like the look of this. the artstyle is weird, the neon is annoying, the UI/HUD is ugly, the characters seem dull and cliche, the music is meh, its like Disney made DA in the Fortnite engine. There's no soul
Then don't buy it! You won't be missed. Bye.
"Fornite Engine" is Unreal Engine 5, bioware are still using Frostbite
Exactly. It will flop. Looks terrible.
I can see how the arstyle might seem weird because of how dragon age usually is, but not having soul is a very weird critique that I haven't heard and don't think is true
@@BenjaminEleven they were never going to buy it anyways
It's important to please fans... it's MORE important to just make a great game...
Some fans are going to love it. Others will hate it.
Thus far the only gripe I have is I'm not super interested in the romance options.
There's only one I'm vibing with so far, but we'll see when the game comes out.
Colour me excited. I really hope it’s good.
I need no multiplayer in ME and Dragon age that are waste resources
This game looks like fortnite and it has no connecton to the first two games in the series. Im gonna pass.
Varric and Morrigan are literally in the game aha
@@SaintMarianne yeah and we can't see the choice we made with them in dao, da2 , da3
@@plutton9762 With respect, it's been ten years my guy. Three games, hundreds of choices. It's a mighty if not highly impossible task to accomplish. I'm disappointed there's only three choices, but I understand that this game is supposed to be one that new players can jump into with minimal confusion as to the past lore.
Who knows, perhaps this game will be a total failure and I'll casually forget it's a thing. But my hope is that it's just as good if not better than Inquisition.
@@S0URCH33KS just some codex entry and some sentences said by morigan or varric on certain choices like romances ect or what becomes of certain companions it's not that complicated inquisition managed to do it well, I'm not asking for the return of each companion or each hero either , just some reference which allows us to link the important events of a world that we have contributed to creating
(sorry if my English is not very good, I had to google translation to be able to express my thoughts well)
@@plutton9762 Your English was fine my friend, no worries. And yes, I agree with the codex idea. But that would also include having to import hundreds of choices from the previous games.
I'm just as frustrated as most Dragon Age fans are. But I can respect limitations. Writing in every permutation for every choice in every D.A game would take a lifetime. So I get it. I don't like it, but I get it.
The first Dragon age game is one of my all time favourite games. The rest kind of diminished with each game.
This game is gonna be GOTY
Probably not

Sounds like they're taking a beloved game series and then setting it on fire.
I disagree. I think the veilguard looks great and I'm sure it will be a fantastic game. But, if you feel some kind of way about it. Don't buy it. Though, I think you should get it and give it a try. You'll probably be pleasantly surprised
How so? I feel that each Dragon Age game has been different enough that there is nothing is really set in stone.
Bioware betrayed its fan with slimy tactics! Our previous choices don't matter? This should have been put upfront before starting to sell the game! Knowing they promoted it for years as a continuation of the previous games and choices. Why the Keep for Inquisition do exist actually! They just didn't wanna waste another yer or two of development! If they let the dev do what they wanted instead of pushing to multiplayer! This wouldn't happen! We would have a smaller open world map, and an avangers end game type setting! The campain put in place to lie about the sales, to push people to buy, buttering up youtubers, so they are more focus on being invited again, lies lies lies! BIOWARE spread crumbs of lies all over us! Shameless dev
so, naturally, all stories begins as great story.
Some stories go on like great stories, and some, like this one, have nothing to offer but arrogance and empty ambition.
Are you not going to mention that only 3 previous choices carry over to this game? 😢 This news just dropped my hype to zero and I won't buy this game.
They should have branched the game into a dozen different offshoots for you
@@Mythos131 No, they could have shown some basic effort to write a few differing codex entries and a few differing lines for the big cameos and I would have been more than happy.
@@fynnh5459 But they would have to include conflicting codex entries and scenes, people made different choices.
@@Mythos131 I, for one, would have chosen conflicting or even sometimes bugged codex entries over having no references at all any day. I'm not asking them to import 200 different choices. But I would have at least expected 10-15 choices outside of romance options.
@@fynnh5459 They couldn't have conflicting codices--not an option. They made the best choice I think.

@@banjomir519 Huh? Bye? Are only people who like what they see allowed to comment?
@@Safiyahalishahno but you've got to admit it is strange when people say that. At least when people mention the art style or Qunarai or for me the running animation is genuinely making me consider if I want to buy it or not. If I ran like that then I'd deliberately break my own spine to put myself in a wheelchair to save myself the embarrassment of ever having to run like that again. The point I'm making is it's a strange statement to make. "I'm not buying it".. ok and? Like wtf are we meant to do with that information? It's a complete waste of time. He's gone into a video about a game he's already decided he doesn't want to just randomly declare he's not buying it. You cannot deny that is the sort of strange behaviour a serial killer would do. It's like me saying I'm not going to have dessert later.. ok? Why is that relevant though? It's attention seeking at best
@@me5969 I mean they are definitely looking for like-minded people. But I think it's disingenuous to frame that as just attention-seeking. There are people who comment just to say 'yay looking forward to it' or 'this will be GOTY' or a very elaborative 'nice'. Nobody's arguing with that because, well, most people in this comment section are hyped about the game. They agree, or want to agree.
Don't get me wrong. I won't argue that the haters want to make their voices heard. And I honestly appreciate that. There's no freakin like/dislike ratio anymore on this miserable platform. I want to see what people really think. The ratio of happy comments and their likes to the angry comments and their likes is all I got.
This series has lost its soul. I wouldn't pirate this rubbish
This lazy garbage will flop.
Cartoonish...... yeah Cartoonish sums it up.
I like Cartoonish characters as long as the story is mature. Imagine a game that looks like Batman the animated series but is as dark as a horror movie. Pure gold.
