History of New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble (Part 1)

First installment of a series covering the creation of the New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble (NYSJE), the genre of "ska-jazz" and documenting the writing/recording of each album in-depth. From inspiration, to concept development, to putting the first band together, to recording their self-titled debut album (released in 1995), Part 1 tells the story of the inception and early years of the New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble. Features music from the first record and exclusive interview with founding member/bandleader/saxophonist Rocksteady Freddie (Fred Reiter). To commemorate 22 years of NYSJE/Ska-Jazz, the band will be digitally re-releasing every album they've made, one at a time, on the 22nd of each month. First re-release will be Oct 22, 2015. Each re-release will include a new video about the history of that record, the band at that time and the development of Ska-Jazz.

Thank you for this. Saw you guys live in NY in 2000 and spent quite a while after the show just talking music with Freddie. Truly one of the nicest musicians I have ever met. This band has always been one of my favorites and I truly enjoyed this "behind the scenes" look into the band.
