Threading Plain Weave On An 8-Shaft Loom For 4th of July Towels!

In this video I thread my 8-shaft floor loom with a new plain weave project. This project uses 8/4 rug warp in Red, White & Blue for Fourth of July Towels and has an 8 thread repeat. Since I'm threading it on my floor loom I'm threading it in a straight draw over 8 shafts.

I recently did a warp where I had two threads at a time and created a 1x1 cross as well. It went really well until I went to try and put my back bar through the loop so that I could warp back to front. The bar was going through the false cross and not through the actual loops. I had to one by one gather each loop up and add a new tie so that could get them on that back bar. I'm still not sure what I did wrong. All the videos I watched were about how to manipulate the threads to create the cross, but none of them went over how to remove it off the warping board at the end.

Oh that would be so frustrating. I'm usually fairly careful to isolate my loops before I take the warp off the board by tying a choke tie or using the Ikea chip clips I use when warping. I will definitely give it another try and think with practice I'll get better. Thanks for watching and commenting with your experience. Good to keep in mind for future tries!
