Hello, I'm a Filipino guy and currently working for Hylife Ltd. as Barn Manager here in Manitoba, Canada. Eversince I started watching your videos I've been wanting to have my own barn someday. I graduated Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in The Philippines that's why taking care of animals and plants have been a passion of mine. I hope someday my dream will come true about having my own barn.
Tail bites and belly bust hernias were our biggest issue with the group were shipping out currently. Expect our pigs wouldn't go out, fought us all the way into the truck yesterday. Old natural barn plus high heat and humidity made it challenging even at 6 A.M.
20-30 minutes a load to load. Probably about the same to pre sort. Not really a time saver in total but definitely easier on the pigs. Also nice to sort in the cool mornings for late night loads.
@@torktalks5573 i gotcha. Our loads usually go out at about 6 or a little before or a little after in the evening. It is pretty nice. Definetely makes sense for doing that on middle of the night loads
@@aford8776 it is better not to for us. They fight eachother and kill eachother and we dont have open pens. It would be nice if they didnt but thats just how it is. Could posssibly do that when were near empty but by then its easy enough going pen by pen it ends in 30 minutes anyways
Nice video, i really like yours positive vibration :) In the subject of tail biting I disagree that there isn't anything to do to prevent it. Sometimes its becaus there are to meny pigs in the pen, sometimes they are bored (helps give them something to chew and play), maby its to little protein in fodder, it could be also problem with ventilation. But its true that if they start chewing tails its a hel of work to make them stop. At my place it helps to spray something bitter on the tails and take away from the pen not only the most bitten pigs but also mean ones that do the most bittings.

Pig farming at its best
It sure is! Feeding the world one pig at a time!
How much time does it take you guys to load a truck/pre sort. We dont sort before a load and takes about a hour a load

How old are they from birth, the group that you've sold out?
Lucky for you that your dad didn’t hit his head on the quick hitch or you would have had major editing to do. Enjoy your father son banter!

Haha that’s how it goes most of the time! Thanks for watching
"Market hogs" = slaughter hogs.
Sawyer , tail biting is a result of shitty genetics and or a lack of potassium in the feed . And ventilation plays a huge role .
And Circo…
@@torktalks5573 could be , we just see it using the PIC boar .
