- This weeks tip is about using challenging songs from your favorite bands to increase your speed, power, and endurance.
It's a great way (and FUN way) to practice double bass, fast drum fills, etc.
Key takeaway here is INTENSITY! Intensity equals greater results!
Try it out and see how it works for you.
Until next time, keep it heavy!

I don't care if you don't upload videos that often, I'm happy just listening to you, hail Jon Dette.
Excelent Drummer 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Hi John, when you mentioned what you played along to, I knew which record you were going to mention as I did the same! My go to was and always has been the first half of Decade of Aggression. 100% agree with your point about the performance angle and this type of drumming being very athletic. I started playing air drums to slayer and metallica before I ever got near a drum kit. When I did I found I could play Enter Sandman almost all of the way through without any pointers. That was 30 years ago. I don't do the air drumming anymore (as I did) but I still smash out Decade of Aggression to warm up before gigs. Keep the videos coming!
Great advice, even for people/musicians who are not drummers, the exercises are great, but play along with the record… definitely way more fun then just doing exercises..
Nice shirt, Jon 🤘Great advice too - I used to jam along with Kill 'Em All with headphones on when I was 14 and learned most of that album on drums, but then the next year I switched to guitar 😎
Agreed 100% master mate
I started doing that recently and yes it pays off a big time!
Great tips Jon pls keep those videos coming…
I like these, but I wish you would up the production quality a bit. Get a lav mic, at least. :)
Wtf is that? Lol
I use Vic Firth wireless isolation headphones and I love'em! I have also used my guitar with a looper pedal and jammed to my own riffs 🤘🤓
Cheers from Istanbul...
