I got a mechanic up to level 250 during the event and it's probably the class I love and hate the most. With Tank Mode, AP Salvo+, and Homing Missiles, grinding was pretty easy even without insane funding or investment up to level 229. Level 232+ required me to use everything in the Mechanics toolset, as well as skills like Resistance Infantry and Erda Shower, just to keep up. While still managing to clear maps, having to find a rotation that allowed me to optimally place and maintain all the summons; having to maintain my buffs from all the skills and items, and having to use the short CD skills like Distortion Bomb and Mobile Missile Battery -- all the while ensuring I kept the downtime on Homing Missiles as low as possible -- made me feel like I was going to lose my mind. It's a beautiful class but it just doesn't feel focused in what it wants to do at all, and the amount of effort needed just to be equal to other classes was discouraging.
3 important details: 1 - infinite "blink" usage (while in the air, down+jump) 2 - when bossing mechs focus on dodging everything because homing beacon doesn't prevent you from moving/jumping/etc. (they're fixing that issue you mentioned in like 1 or 2 patches fortunately) 3 - the healing/debuff robot also gives the very valuable final damage buff
i'm a new player who hyper burned a mechanic as my current main, at 229 currently! i agree with a lot of these points for sure, but they don't stop me from enjoying the job! right off the bat i want to say that their mobility isn't quite as bad as you might think, there's a technique i have for zooming across maps that goes like this: if you do a double tap dash on the ground and link it into a jump, you gain a ton of horizontal velocity and retain your flashjump, then if you use it as an upjump, you'll get tons of extra airtime for your high velocity jump! it's a little tricky, but it works really well when you get the hang of it. i'm excited for the changes in the upcoming update, but most of all i'm glad they seem to be about making what mechanic already does a little less cumbersome and punishing, instead of changing it to be more like other jobs. also washing machine is cute i will die on this hill
You know what would make "summon" classes so much better? If you didn't have to reposition the summons every time they expire. Like once you set them down instead of despawning they enter an "inactive" mode and you can just go up to it, press the relevant skill key again and "reactivate" them. Would help out so much with the maintenance issues all these jobs suffer from.
Hmm... there may be some theme going on with these low-playability classes. Not counting beginner-like classes, of course. Most of them are either clunky, require a ton of funding to be decent, or are like "why do I have to smash my keyboard like there's no tomorrow when I can play a class with far fewer inputs and the same result". It's also interesting that all resistance classes minus Demon Slayer are there. Which is why I can't wait for the summer update! As for my suggestion, I'd like to see a video about Illium. Now I know that you mentioned him in your "10 Classes That Are Amazing Right Now" video that was released about a month ago, but that's exactly why I'm proposing it. It's not a bad class, especially if you can fly around the map. It's just too unique compared to others. With this video, you could give this class a spotlight and maybe convince someone to give it another go! :)
I'm a mech main and this class is not clunky at all and the movement is actually very versatile and good it just takes some time getting used to because it is different. The main movement skill for mechanic is not flash jump, but to do a regular jump > jet booster air dash as low to the ground as you can > flash jump out of the jet booster dash while in tank mode. It has a float that can last for 5 seconds which is also a super stance like blink and you can use homing beacon missles while floating in the air with jet booster that resets every time you touch the ground along with a regular dash and air dash. You can also fj out of the dashes and air dashes to move even faster. I would also like to point out that you were farming in humanoid form when you should be farming in tank mode along with the fact that you boosted the 3rd job AP salvo in your V matrix and not the 4th job AP Salvo Plus which is why you were doing less dmg. You should alternate the 5th job summons for 100% uptime on your 5th job summons which helps a lot, you were using both at the same time so you had a lot of downtime until they came back off cd since they are 200sec cd. When bossing you can also down cast rock n shock to place all 3 heads at the same time for quick placement for your robot mastery buff. Edit : As of 3/22/2023 with the most recent update the class went from being very solid to extremely clunky and almost unplayable just from this update. We did get the ability to hold down Homing Beacon missles which is a slight increase in dps for a lot of mechanics but, in exchange for this we HAVE to start holding Homing Beacon before using AP salvo otherwise it will not work and tapping missles is also a damage loss not so that is out of the options. AP Salvo was also changed to targeting and the vertical hitbox was also severely nerfed so it is no longer a laser hit box and has made mechanic mobbing a little bit worse. Mechanics burst was also nerfed with the amount of missles that are sent out in the duration of Full Metal Barrage. While holding down Homing Beacon you can not use ground dashes anymore and you also can almost never activate float, you have to let go of missles to use these. While holding down Homing Beacon it is also impossible to activate AB link and ROR you have to let go of missles to cast them. Regular flash jump/up jump and jet booster IF you jump works fine but this has severely impacted our movement capabilities in a bad way that just makes the class currently feel horrible to play and I have personally found it a lot harder to boss with while taking more damage and dying more because of the loss of our ground dashes and float and if you let go of missles while using these actions then the first Homing Beacon Missles to come back out have a delay and it results in a loss of damage uptime. In the newest KMS update I believe that there was an update to "Improve" the delays while holding down Homing Beacon but i'm not sure if that fixes the problem and we would also have to wait 6+ months for that update unless it is fast tracked which i'm not sure if that would happen. Overall this update is a slight dmg increase for most mechanics but because of what we lost in exchange and how clunky the class feels currently with this update, I could not recommend for anyone to play this class as of right now. Edit : As of 3/30/2023 they fixed Homing Beacon eating inputs and fast tracked the changes by 6 months. Mechanic feels very smooth again and good to play with this fix. After this fix I would now again recommend to play mechanic if you are interested in it.
it's almost like this class is clunky or hard to understand or something the jet booster dash is nice and a good way to control your distance, but we're doing 3 extra inputs to cover a distance other classes do in one(and it still can't go as far)
@@CodeMarbles Having extra inputs does not make the class clunky. If you have jet booster bound on a key then it feels very smooth if you know what you're doing and i'd rather have the multiple inputs because it's actually fun to play instead of being a 1 button class. I understand that people new to the class may think it is clunky but if you properly learn the class and learn how to boss and use the movement properly, it is actually very smooth. Speaking of "clunky" homing beacon literally has no animation at all and you can use it while crouched, moving, flash jump, placing summons, buffing and floating. That is the opposite of clunky.
@@johndon625 think of it like this "why do a quarter circle to hadouken over a single button?" it's clunky in the context of a game where everyone else has simple inputs to get the same or better results really tho mech just has a higher learning curve than people are willing to learn.
@@CodeMarbles Jet booster is not just a flash jump with 3 inputs though... It's a dash, air dash, float and flash jump. You can still use your regular flash jump if you want but just using all 4 makes the class movement a lot more versatile and controllable which is better than a lot of classes. Just because the regular flash jump is not as fast as jetts or thief flash jumps and takes more inputs does not make it "bad" or "clunky" it still feels smooth, more inputs does not mean "clunky" especially if we are getting more than just a singular flash jump out of the skill. The regular flash jump in tank mode isn't even that bad and you can still dodge boss mechanics with it. There are a lot advantages to having an air dash that low like in lotus where you can dash to dodge debris where in some cases where you might flash jump but because of vertical height from the flash jump you will get hit by debris and the same for most other bosses too. It also would not make sense to have the same amount of speed some classes do have with the same amount of control that we do have. You don't need to compare mechanic to other classes. It is very controllable and good movement in a different way and it's a very good/underrated class overall, people just need to learn how to play the class properly and I think having higher the inputs for movement is worth what we get out of it.
4:05 you say Mechanics have very little mobility with no dashes, but we have the ability to flash jump, air dash horizontally, up jump, and have a 4 second hover than can be chained into blink for 9 seconds total. All of these can also chain into themselves, so up-jump into hover or flash jump into air dash. As someone who has played Mech, mobility is not an issue we currently have anymore with how many tools we have, in addition to portals which can help deal with many boss gimmicks fairly easily. Also if you do decide to keep playing Mechanic again, you node boosted the 3rd job Salvo skill rather than the 4th job one, so you were missing a good chunk of FD there 😅
mech is a class you have to put a ton of time into just learning those things. mech seems clunky until you play it well past 200 and start learning all the different tricks. definitely not straight forward and most people who play the class only get to 200 and banish it to the bottom of their char selection page.

Had a lot of fun with the class back in its introduction - it was super fat. Those robots alone did an absurd amount of damage before its first major nerf. I remember being able to check my phone and whatnot while other people in the training ground would complain. I apologize for nothing.
Just make the missiles passive, QoL can make or break a class. Look at how NW don't have to jump throw cancel and now is super popular and fun to play. Start with QoL then work on fixing the clunky mech tank and humanoid mode.
I want to love this class but it’s release was goated and I don’t like it’s skill design and summon type class it is rn, might as well play Corsair or Battle mage
the moment they took out their lasers and siege mode, mechanic turned into the most unfun class to exist. they used to be known as the most op class even like a year after release, the summons were pretty much a utility choice and not a must to increase your dps. i guess one sentence can sum it up pretty well: they turned the gameplay into a chore.
cause they got nerfed way back before the first explorers rework (dont remember the update name) I used to main a mechanic when I came back to playing maole in the EU server
Apparently summons cause massive FPS drops, so it was very fun, until it stopped being fun, I love Mechanic but hoooooooooooooooooooooooly crap, the game should not under any circumstance take over 10 seconds to advance one frame
I have a question that I hope isn't against the ToS or against your channel rules. With the new update adding the ability to do pretty much anything while holding down missiles, wouldn't it be efficient to just keyweight that button down while playing? You'll have essentially full uptime without needing to manually press the button, it seems really good.
Mobile Mech Main: BillBurrr If anyone wants to join us in this class in mobile it would be wonderful... we need more players using gun classes, however, its a very discouraging class (especially for casual players)
I feel bad about Mechanic when Wild Hunter"s summon (rocket barrage thingky I forgot the name) is better than him😂 Mech use to be my main But I switched to Cannoneer. PIRATE OWNS😊
i almost never used the missiles because they are so clunky to use why not being an auto skill or if you held down the skill or something but alas finally the QoL that the 20 mechanic mains wanted
Mechanic feels like a jack of all trades but a master of none. Leveled one to 210 because I like the weird classes. I think the mobbing is _good,_ and the bossing is also ... good. There isn't anything that mechanic can't do (besides bind,) but it doesn't excel at any one thing in particular. Their mobility is great, they have two looong invulnerability skills, and they can easily full map clear while mobbing. Mashing the missile button feels simply _awful_ when the AP Salvo/barrage is a hurricane skill. It's a fun class but I would wait until the buffs/changes happen to main one.
Personally: I hate summons, the class is clunky, with too many skills and generally annoying, unrewarding, high effort gameplay. The only part I like is the link skill and buff duration card. I'd delete it and do another class from scratch if I were Nexon.
Because the class suuuuuuuucks. There, I said it sorry :D Hope this class gets treated well in the future. I remember how cool it was to grind this class at the blue cars around level 40. I loved it back then! But now... Pretty meh, let's hope for the best!
why cant they rework it for instead of a mech its like a suit. and have it as a mode like a meltdown from buccaneer. a mech suit would be more appealing then the washing machine
nobody plays Mechanic because its a stupid class. Its ugly, you have to play the whole game in a rusty washing machine and it doesn't even feel like its your character leveling up or training its just a robot doing it all. Plus its fashion story so people wanna show off not be hiding in a robot.

Just make the missiles passive, QoL can make or break a class. Look at how NW don't have to jump throw cancel and now is super popular and fun to play. Start with QoL then work on fixing the clunky mech tank and humanoid mode.
why they removed siege mode i stopped playing when that happened
I want to love this class but it’s release was goated and I don’t like it’s skill design and summon type class it is rn, might as well play Corsair or Battle mage
Would be nice to see battlemage and wild hunter next
the moment they took out their lasers and siege mode, mechanic turned into the most unfun class to exist. they used to be known as the most op class even like a year after release,
the summons were pretty much a utility choice and not a must to increase your dps.
i guess one sentence can sum it up pretty well: they turned the gameplay into a chore.
We need a Resistance classes ignition.
Literally every person I've ever seen in edelstein is a mech
cause they got nerfed way back before the first explorers rework (dont remember the update name)
I used to main a mechanic when I came back to playing maole in the EU server
I’m a wild hunter main and I want respect
Easy leveling with the missiles lol and summons I love this class time all pirate classes are golden
I argue Mechanic is worth leveling due to their Legion effect
Do Angelic Buster next
I made a mech for their revamp some years ago to get a ring and then I deleted it
The mechanic in "DFO" is so much cooler.
Oh this one is going to be a fun one
Apparently summons cause massive FPS drops, so it was very fun, until it stopped being fun, I love Mechanic but hoooooooooooooooooooooooly crap, the game should not under any circumstance take over 10 seconds to advance one frame
I have a question that I hope isn't against the ToS or against your channel rules. With the new update adding the ability to do pretty much anything while holding down missiles, wouldn't it be efficient to just keyweight that button down while playing? You'll have essentially full uptime without needing to manually press the button, it seems really good.
keyweights are against tos but I head people use a pedal for this class
Mobile Mech Main: BillBurrr
If anyone wants to join us in this class in mobile it would be wonderful... we need more players using gun classes, however, its a very discouraging class (especially for casual players)
I play both mechanic and corsair haha
Mecha Onion
was my fav pirate class, until new JETT
Hilarious how there’s almost more beginner 250’s than mechs
time to mega burn this and only touch it with a 10 foot bonk potion
I feel bad about Mechanic when Wild Hunter"s summon (rocket barrage thingky I forgot the name) is better than him😂
Mech use to be my main
But I switched to Cannoneer.
PIRATE OWNS😊
I bet some classes are still beung made with devs thinking "for people who wants to party"
I could only level it up with a booster
Do kinesis would be intresting
illium?
All resistance needs a revamp tbh they need to stop making new classes. You hardly ever see these classes anymore
if they made the mech look cooler then everyone would play mechanic
i stopped playing mechanic when they changed its auto in mech form into the laser thing , disgusting lol i liked the old one better
I just feel like most of mechs skills are so uselessly bad, all the robots make it annoying
i almost never used the missiles because they are so clunky to use why not being an auto skill or if you held down the skill or something but alas finally the QoL that the 20 mechanic mains wanted
It's a fun class but I would wait until the buffs/changes happen to main one.
it does excel in mobbing.
ive heard they are pretty good for auto battle though
Personally: I hate summons, the class is clunky, with too many skills and generally annoying, unrewarding, high effort gameplay. The only part I like is the link skill and buff duration card. I'd delete it and do another class from scratch if I were Nexon.
Oh I read "why noone plays MapleStory" 😅
wait so you just straight up avoided wild hunter? can you say why :(
Can you please do AB! Thank you!
Because the class suuuuuuuucks. There, I said it sorry :D
Hope this class gets treated well in the future. I remember how cool it was to grind this class at the blue cars around level 40. I loved it back then! But now... Pretty meh, let's hope for the best!
Mechanics are just ugly, slow, and annoying sound effects to me, thats why I don't play mine
Man, Today's MapleStory is such a clusterfrunk...
That's why i name my Mech NepGear she loves robots
100k yo noiceeeeeee
why cant they rework it for instead of a mech its like a suit. and have it as a mode like a meltdown from buccaneer. a mech suit would be more appealing then the washing machine
Might make Mech too similar in theme to Xenon. I like the washing machine.
nobody plays Mechanic because its a stupid class. Its ugly, you have to play the whole game in a rusty washing machine and it doesn't even feel like its your character leveling up or training its just a robot doing it all. Plus its fashion story so people wanna show off not be hiding in a robot.
lol this game looks so ridiculous now. One single playing doing so many lines of damage you can barely see the screen. I miss the old maple.
Personally, i just hate the aesthetic lmfao
Mechanic and wild hunter have been ass for decades god
You lost me at mechanic.
mechs r 4 furries, lol.
🤓💢
@@LixyFox exhibit a
A literal bot judging classes he has barley played is actual comedy😂
forgot to mention, if an 9K legion player for almost 2 decades struggles with this class, u can be sure anyone else will .
How can they be above whs man 🥲
