Hes right real damascus is called wootz damascus and wootz is the real deal very different then main stream damascus, where woots can only be remade by one other in states and hes like 80 plus years old hope the skill dont die with him....
IPostSwords A lot of antique dealers won't ship out of their country anymore. They don't want to deal with the hassle, and some countries prevent historical items from leaving their borders and a heritage thing. I literally had an Irish antique dealers not sell me a British saber for that reason, and that doesn't even make sense.
Yeah, I have to get my antiques professionally evaluated in Poland every time I want them sent to me in australia, to verify they aren't heritage items.
There's actually plenty accounts of the sword cane being used as a defensive tool in history. As to how much they were used, for the nature of the times relatively few, but enough that we know the design to be effective.
I believe the bird dog blade is something like 25 1/4 inches. About an inch longer than a standard sword cane blade. 24 inches is a very common blade length. The bird dog blade has either gained length in your mind or lost length in my mind. I believe if you put it side by side with the Octopus, there will be less difference than you think.
Yeah, but you got to shell out $1400 just to get a mk IV which is the only model that even tries to hide the otherwise obvious telltale button. I spent about $150 for the Bird Dog he shows there and with one quick and easy mod, no rattle at all. Looks good, will function, and even has a longer blade than the Burger 17 inch. And for a fraction of even what it costs for a barebones MK I at $550.
Swords of Northshire is making high quality swords canes now, and they will do customizations. I bought the Trekking Jian and asked for blackened brass. www.swordsofnorthshire.com/index.php?route=product/search&search=Cane
Got a whale of a tale to tell you lad. A whale of a tale or two, about the flapping fish and the girls I loved and nights like this this with the moon above. Nights like this and it's all true. I swear by my tattoo.
I only like sword canes if their blades are as long as the canes they use as sheaths. Problem is, those types of sword canes are INCREDIBLY rare, so I can pretty much never find them.
the japanese have you covered my friend, shikomizue sword canes more often have full length blades then other types of sword canes. www.nihonswords.com/2010/03/29/hidden-blade-shikomizue/?lang=en and this forum thread has a few nice examples, like really nice. www.militaria.co.za/nmb/topic/5174-japanese-cane-swords/ too bad getting a replica would probably cost more then alot of the originals.
I'd prefer to call it what it is...
A Calamari Shiv Stick.
CrashCourseHEMA man, such a good name for it.
If they wanted to make it really look Lovecraftian, it would have been designed using non-Euclidean geometry.

...Eh, has tentacles, it counts. It's a neat looking thing though.
You lost me at "Lovecraftian Eldritch kind of weird quasi early 20th century late 19th century."
What part of that was confusing?
i would like to just say im the one that made that like button go to 666
I always wanted a sword cane. looks neat!
A sword cane that rattles like that is not worth the price of that item. It is just superficially good looking.

9260 is a super steel. Far superior/uniform than "Damascus".
Likewise, I'll take Carbon Fiber over Wood for rigidity any day of the week.
So sad that sword canes are banned here in Germany;(....this one looks quite good...
I seriously recommend Cold Steel "Heavy Duty" sword cane...They also make more gentlemanly style ones as well..All stainless if thats your thing
can u wear a top hat next sword cane review? And maybe a black cape?
Wish sword canes were legal here. I'd love some antiques.
I wish antique sword canes were available in the US, but they are super rare here.
The UK seems to have tons of them - I watch them go for cheap during online UK auctions and hate Australian laws for stopping me from bidding.

way to expensive for what it is
This is a case of paying for design over implementation, certainly.

Does it rattle when used?
used as a cane? Yes.
The fittings of the sword itself, not yet, but I haven't put it through paces yet.
Darn that rattle!
I have yet to find one without a profound "rattle" when used as a cane.
