Will basicly betrayed hannibal with the intention that he gets locked up, but in his heart he betrayed jack and wanted hannibal to be free. Thats why u can see the wounded stag at the end, which indicates that hannibal is heartbroken by wills betrayl.
What does this phrase from the phone have to do with it? What is the point of the fandom attributing something that does NOTHING to anything?
The call means nothing, Fuller said Will did not consciously make decisions, he did not make any decisions, AFTER he played a double game he got into a DEAD END, an insoluble dead end, and all these actions are a subconscious desire to save BOTH JACK AND HANNIBAL
Hence Will tells Hannibal "you were supposed to leave", but even this moment is NOT A PLAN has nothing more to do with what is happening, Will saw what kind of web Hannibal was weaving with Abigail and according to official sources the decision to let himself be gutted became the end for Will, at that moment he rightly thought that he betrayed Hannibal and that's how everything should end
@@PKILL88 No, the official sources is that the deer is a symbol of Will's darkness and connection to Hannibal. The ending broke their relationship and erased it, just like Hannibal wanted to do when he k*lled the symbol of Will's connection - Abigail, hence the deer becomes dead in Will's fantasy AND IS RELEASED
And as Hugh said, the darkness that was behind Will is now either dead or released and now Will can do dark things WITHOUT guilt

This is perhaps the most perfect episode of television ever made. It guts me every time that I see it. And I feel like a horrible person because I always feel for Hannibal every time. Curse you, Mads Mikkelsen, for making a completely unsympathetic character pull on my heartstrings. The moment that Hannibal tried to get Will to run away with him despite knowing that he had betrayed him and Will denies him... it just breaks Hannibal's heart. Mads Mikkelsen is so good at micro-expressions that give the audience an insight into what his characters are feeling. "We couldn't leave without you..." 😥 There is surely something wrong with me that I have so much empathy for Hannibal. 🙄😂
"what side was Will on?" is the question for the ages cause even Will doesn't know the answer to that
I really like Hannibal comforting Will after he stabs him. "You can make this all disappear. Put your head back. Close your eyes. Immerse yourself in the stillness of the stream."

Hannibal was willing to forgive Will's "betrayal" the night before at the dinner. He gave Will a legit chance to leave but Will chose "justice" over Hannibal. Such a good season finale
I love the way they do the camera work the half of will that's with Hannibal being darker covered by shadows ie his "evil" side and the half with jack being completely visible ie "good" side.... just chefs kiss
No matter how many times i watch this episode I SOBBB. Always. Anyways side note lol hannibal took will's jackets off of alana's body before he left. When someone told me that I actually died. no joke. But love you guy's reactions Lol can't wait for season 3!!
Will asks Hannibal while they're talking about his mind palace: "Could you be happy there?" Will worried about Hannibal's happiness when getting caught. Another important thing for me (among others) is that Will doesn't use his gun and doesn't try to defend himself. He just stands there and takes Hannibal's anger and bitterness. I suppose Will thinks he deserves it after his betrayal.
As the show's creator said, "Will and Hannibal have a pure general love for each other. That's why it's so complicated". It really is. I feel so sorry for them.

Abigals death killed me the way Abigail just accepts it and how Hannibal does it the way hobbs was going to and the worst part how will still try to stop the bleeding even though he was dying himself. She is truly the definition of doomed by there narrative.
Something I do see that I'm curious about is how y'all think Hannibal felt about Abigail if he ever really cared for her etc. In my opinion I do think he really cared for her in the way only he can he wanted to groom her into her true form just like will and create his ideal life (that was pushed by will's love for Abigail) but I think a part of him knew that she wanted death over having to go through more of Hannibals games, so he did it as a kind of act of mercy.
Hannibal didn't manipulate Alana when he told her to be blind and not to see
Mads always said, like Fuller, that all of Hannibal's emotions and feelings are real, he gave her one last chance to leave unharmed, he didn't want to follow her from the start - SHE came after him, and for Hannibal, death is not a tragedy, it is both a LESSON and art for all the characters
Like Fuller said, Hannibal emerges as a leader, cleansed of bad relationships and this drama in a new chapter. he cares, he stepped over this chapter and closed it
Hence he did not manipulate Alana, Mads said she became useful, but this does not deny their sincerity in the moment, even if this did NOT have a future and Hannibal would have run away silently in another outcome with or without Will, but she HERSELF came and he gave her a choice, this is again what Fuller said that the devil gives you a chance, he does not force you, Hannibal did not force Jack to come

I don't usually double comment, but just as I was posting my other comment you said that you didn't expect that much blood to be spilled in this episode. Made me remember a fun fact. There was so much fake blood used in this episode that it rotted the flooring on the set of Hannibal's kitchen and that set had to be rebuilt. 🩸🩸

The Badelia story is more than you think! And you were right about seeing the real Hannibal in the end scenes. This is the Hannibal we see from now on. No more “person suit”. And Will… he is confused, but the time he spent with Hannibal changed him, as in he became more himself. What we see is is struggle with his morality.

As for Hannibal's forgiveness... I don't understand how most of the reactions on UA-cam, well, I make allowances for the fact that this is the first viewing and all that... But for me, this whole general feeling of Will's betrayal of Hannibal brings tears, and this phrase with Will's forgiveness. that he forgives and closes this chapter, as well as cleanses himself of all these relationships, this is art
As well as the image of Will from Hugh, who played too much and got into a dead end and did not plan anything else, he simply considered this the right outcome, and in the future (spoilers season 3) the whole chase will consist of the fact that he himself does not know whether he will take revenge, forgive, run away with him or something else, this is ALSO a zero quest, just like Hannibal cleansed himself and left, just like Will with a zero start will continue this whole game and also forgive, because there is no other way
All the written drama in Hannibal is so sensitive, sincere and does not cause a drop of doubt and contradiction, so need to be able to break the hearts of the characters every season, first prison, then betrayal from a double game and all
this is NOT the end, season 1 needs 2, and 2 needs 3, and only at the end of 3 is there a point where a new act is not needed

Bedelia has an complex attachment to Hannibal much like how Will is attached to Hannibal. That said, and many people don't notice this side plot, is that Hannibal has been helping Bedelia, because she asked him to. Bedelia could still be tried as a murderer of her patient, if the FBI decided to look at her case differently. She had potentially valuable information about Hannibal, and she gave Will a taste of it when she told him she "believed" him and came into the picture. She went into hiding and eventually was found by Jack. In order to get her to talk, they made a deal so she wouldn't be prosecuted for the death of her patient, if she cooperated against Hannibal. She got her freedom, and Hannibal manipulated all this so that she could get it. This was the plan all along. She sits with him on the plane, to whom she owes this, but does not partake in Hannibal's self-congratulation for his recent conflict. The complexity of their relationship is that she is learning how dangerous Hannibal is, but in this moment, he is the man who sacrificed a great deal for her and followed through on his promise.
“Are they about to make out?” followed by absolute horror when Hannibal stabs him is the universal reaction to that scene😭🙏
I LOVED this reaction! Worth the wait. Hannibal’s speech to Will always breaks my heart. If you look closely, you can see tears on Hannibal’s cheeks. He wanted Will, the only person who ever understood him, to be a part of his family. But Will’s betrayal cut him so deeply he had to cut him back, and then some (rip Abigail).
“I let you know me. See me. I gave you a rare gift, but you didn’t want it.”
“Didn’t I?”
Will wanted to be with Hannibal just as much but ultimately made the “wrong” choice. He did turn on Jack and tried to warn Hannibal with that phone call (“they know”) but it was too late; the betrayal was already done. The whole situation is so tragic, and we as viewers feel a little crazy for feeling bad for a cannibal with a broken heart.
When this final aired, many of us weren't sure if it would be renewed. Imagine this was the _series_ final. Even after, we still had to wait a whole year to get answers.

The most heartbreaking episode ever. The way Hannibal looks at Will while he holds him in that scene is so gut wrenchingly beautiful. He is so devastated. He cried. Hannibal wanted to run away with Will so bad. He was ready to give up his life here and start a new one with him. He even gave Will a second chance after learning of his betrayal. He really loves Will so much. But the thing is, Will wanted to run away with Hannibal more than anything else too. And that fact makes everything even more heartbreaking.

Will: Didn't I?
Will WANTED it. He wanted to be with Hannibal. And in the end, Will chose Hannibal. He chose Hannibal when he called him and warned him. He hoped Hannibal would run away and not get caught. He chose Hannibal when he lowered his gun and didn't use it. But it was too late.
The ticking in the background made this episode so intense!!! Ugh love your reactions!

Hannibal is loud but Will is bold, I love their love
One of the best series finales out there. The build-up for this was great. The dynamic between Hannibal and Will is crazy. My take is, Will tried to play both sides and lost because of his arrogance and inner struggle. Hannibal opened up to him a bit, but never lost his guard and planned two steps ahead.
