    ...that metal part goes underneath the dash and retains the carpet/ sound insulation there

      Yup my early 90 and 110 had that part under the dash too to hold the cards where the pedals were.

      Yippee! yes there should be three across the lower dash and two strips down the A pillars. This was the only one still there obviously. I can make the rest of the set- But thatll be down the track- I want to get this thing driveable by Christmas!

    Stewart i forgot to mention maybe a soft type door card would be better for the pedal cover, & also you will need to bend it say 130 degrees to fasten to the floor. Its 4:15 pm here in brisbane Australia. Also to letyou know i have owned 75 series 3 shorty, 1983 stage1 10 seater station wagon, 3.9 isuzu(JRA australia) built for landrover aust. a very tough unit. Now i have a 1986 110 county 3.9 isuzu,I modified it to all areas its in nearly as new condition had it 30 yrs. 182000ks used only for club trips & outback Aus.

      That leather embossed board was known as 'oilboard' cos it was semi waterproof. was used in mini dashboards behind the parcel trays and VW beetle had parcel trays made of it- (crash regs) according to my research the LR Deluxe trim used this stuff www.retwine.co.nz/product/1456/boston-polyfelt-140cm-black-matting-20m-roll/?fbclid=IwAR3fcsZBc48ktT4L0vR32Qtj5uUN-z7Yn2ck6KmA7F6qF40vSaMJweaZ1rU

    HiI am in the throws of recovering my dash -series 3. A few questions. What was the name of the vinyl used. I cannot quite catch the name on the vid. Where did you get your vinyl from. I live in Nelson nz. Really like your stuff. Kevin

      Have now… it’s you saying funnily enough. Supply here seems to be a problem - been to a couple of places who did not show any signs of being interested in supplying.

      Hi Kevin- Is known as 4 way stretch vinyl it has a visibly different backing to normal vinyl. The wholesalers that I use wont sell to the public . you dont need much so any local trimmer will get some in for you. you only need half a metre- should cost about $20. Only use Premium high strength ados spray adhesive. The general purpose one is not up to it. Thanks for the appreciation! It means a lot to know that Im on the right track.

    Wow that's a pretty cool fix, I have used that foam for all kinds of stuff and they have so many different styles of it these days if you know what I mean so you have different applications as well. But that is very very interesting thank you so much. I don't know much about New Zealand other than it is very beautiful but do you celebrate Thanksgiving at the same time and if you do may you have a wonderful Thanksgiving many many blessings to you and your family. Stay safe stay well and has always God bless.

      we are a bit confused about thanksgiving- we dont feel the need to pardon turkeys- Its a bit lost on us. is it something to do with independence ?

      @@t.h.o.r. thank you for the reply, I actually love the stuff that you're doing. So Thanksgiving know it's actually about the pilgrims and the first year that they spent together with the Indians that they met when they landed. The Indians taught them many things of survival in the New World, but they also taught the Indians about hunting with weapons other than a bow and arrow. I would love to visit your country one day and hopefully I will. Keep up the great work. Stay safe stay well and as always God bless. PS although that is the story I was taught who knows what really happened.

      @@MakinEndsMeet69 Yes Joseph, As I was reading I wondered what went wrong with it all? we are similar here with the Maoris who were here when the English came, There was a treaty written and signed (Waitangi Day)but veiwed in hindsight it was a very biased deal and today the Maori have woken up to the unfairness of it and realise that they lost their sovereignty despite assurance that the wouldnt. - sad affair....Thankyou for supporting what I do here- Its always changing.

    What is the material you are using to recover the dash? Maybe I missed it in the audio commentary...

    • @t.h.o.r.
      @t.h.o.r.  Рік тому +1

      It's called 4 way stretch vinyl in USA. The rest of the world seem to just count the two axis and refer to it as two way stretch. It has a biaxial stretch like a strapping bandage. You are more likely to find it at an auto trimmer rather than a interior trimmer shop.

    Gonna be 7 degrees F here in Connecticut tomorrow. I shall be stretching on the new vinyl for the 74 Series 3. I really liked how you forced the foam into the cracks. That stuff is sticky but wants to stay on the surface.

      Well I glued the top section like have done. It all worked out pretty well. I copied your use of sockets and a little heat. There are some imperfections, should have spent a little more time smoothing out the top of dash. But maybe I'm just a little too critical. A hell of a lot better than before. Great instructions on your video.

    Now stewart the metal strip with 4 slots & a channel section. That strip mounts directly under the dash tray 4 screws in the 4 slots onto fire wall below steering column above foot pedals.Slot holds a piece of very thin ply or thick type cardboard with slots cut into it (cardboard) to fit between clutch & brake pedal leavers & onto foot well floor using self tapping screws & large washers to hold it along floor from above accelerator pedal across left to above clutch pedal. It is just to hide area above pedals to fire wall. You will have to make this large piece of ply or thick cardboard up.Make it small as possible(no gaps) to fit between pedal arms & slot it in then to floor. Hope you can understand my details.Regards Kevin.

      Ill tell you what Kevin- thats great info. The boys on the LR Series 123 lover's FB page said similar but not is so much detail. Thanks so much. that is the only piece. the rest of it is long gone, But I see exactly what you mean - Ill make some of them and get the heat insulation stuff in there. Itll be hot with two exhausts!
