Even though he's a psychopath, you get the feeling that he is pissed that the kids weren't at school even if just so he wouldn't have to answer tough questions afterwards.
@@Legba85 Disagree. He has no problem with shooting children as shown by him killing the little boy. The issue is afterwards when he belatedly realises that when his psycho rage is over, he has to deal with tough questions which puts his bullshit under scrutiny. So he just wants them out of the way when he goes batshit crazy, not because he has a conscience, but because he cannot control himself when in his rage mode and play it smart, i.e., attack who he wants to kill alone, etc.. So ultimately, he's pissed that kids are in the way of his rampages which he cannot control meaning that his actions afterwards are closely looked at and he doesn't want that. It's not that cares or has any hesitation in murdering children, it's just more of a case of being a wild animal, an apex predator, who cannot, will not, change his nature but that leaves him vulnerable afterwards when he has to re-join civilisation when the carnage is over. Civilisation means scrutiny & questions and then judgement, even taken down legally, i.e., prison, if he cannot dance his way out of the questions.
@@Legba85 nah he literally tells Matilda he only likes killing people who are scared of losing their life and that if she wanted to join her dead brother then proceed to point his gun at her about to shot her before his guy interrupted he definitely doesn’t care about killing either
Sid Vicious, Dracula, Winston Churchill, commissioner Gordon, Drexl, is there anything Gary Oldman cannot play to perfection? I bet he could take rob Schneider’s The Stapler and turn into a damn modern art peice!
On my second date with my eventual wife was seeing this flick two days after Forrest Gump And a week after Saving private Ryan. This was my favorite scene of the three movies. For some reason I laughed the rest of the movie and beyond
Mr. Oldman is truly amazing, he is one of those actors who never had a bad role, and can make movies even better merely by his presence👍👍 he definitely haven't got time for their Mickey Mouse bullshit! Besson is also a real mastermind, his Arthur Trilogy was also brilliant, such a shame he didn't do more of those kids films too
End of the scene when Stansfield steals the ball--the teen sounds just like an older version of one of the kids who wanted Sid Vicious to dance with them at the end of " Sid and Nancy"...
People who tend to end up in such profession are on the spectrum, i.e, a psychopathic trait that crave power and authority over others to justify their pettiness.
Funniest part of the scene is that Stansfield squirts Binaca to make sure his breath is minty fresh before he screams in their faces.
The film is full of little details like this! A true classic!
And then literally steals a ball from a kid hahaha
This has got to be the funnest type of character to play in a movie. Gary Oldman made a career playing these archtypes.
Even though he's a psychopath, you get the feeling that he is pissed that the kids weren't at school even if just so he wouldn't have to answer tough questions afterwards.
I think he’s the kind of criminal that doesn’t like collateral damage with kids. Adults are one thing, children must be his line.

@@ciaranoconnell4783 yes the theme or idea is that kids despite their innocence nd powerlessness will be his undoing. Matilda gets her revenge
He has no problem killing whatsoever. He’s angry at being inconvenienced.
“The guy was here, he went for his gun, *bang* we shot ‘im” - What an explanation.
I love Gary Oldman he's definitely one of my favorite actors!!
Best film ever made, and yes Garry Oldman is a really great and amazing actor
I like the tv version - "I HAVEN'T GOT TIME FOR THIS MICKY MOUSE bull squash!"
That's the version I'm looking for haha😂

Don't forget Zorg
These were the days. Banger after banger of decent movies, good actors and in a time where the world wasn't perfect, but better than what it is now.
Movies in the 90s where something else man. Damn the acting is on another level.
I love how he throws his arms up, like “What is there understand?”
In this movie you hate him but it's also fun to watch him,for me Gary is in top 10 actors of all time,Drexl in True Romance also brutal good acting
Bang! Then we shot him!!😂😂😂
He plays Psycho so well

How does he get away with that?!
In splanish when we do a half ass job or fix something with no tools that are needed we call it a Micky mouse job. Idk if there’s a relation.

I haven’t got tiiiimmeeeee,.. FOR THIS MICKEY MOUSE BEWLLSHETTT!!!!
I know this film isn't supposed to be all that plausible, but really, how in god's name did someone like Stansfield ever become a cop? 🤔🤨
Perhaps he was an honest man before well this but maybe he either was so desensitized by near death experiences and or corruption that he turned

You're joking right?
It seems implied in the film that he's spiraling out of control

Why does he say Mickey Mouse bullshit? I dont get it
He thinks this is a childish waste of his time and because the phrase is kinda catchy
