Amazing the degree of excitement and suspense this generates with puppets. I hired Shane Rimmer for a little voice work many years ago when he happened to be in NYC. Super-duper nice guy. For real.
"Welcome back to the land of the living."---I remember hearing that phrase spoken by Scott Tracy the very first time, Saturday morning here in Chicago, circa 1970-1971. I think it was Channel 9 that broadcasted Thunderbirds on Saturday mornings back then. RIP Peter Dyneley, (Jeff Tracy); David Holliday, (Virgil Tracy); and Shane Rimmer, (Scott Tracy).
Whoever you are......Wherever you got this from.......THANK YOU SO SO SO SO SO MUCH......I had this and the Atlantic Inferno Episode on Video years and years ago....VHS...as a combi-episode......This always makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up......I hate the fact that they took the music from the remastered stuff......Thank you so much again...
Thunderbird 2 accidentally but senselessly attacked by the Navy is certainly one of the most dramatic scenes in Thunderbirds. Also, Shane Rimmer gave an excellent performance as Scott as he desperately tells Virgil to pull Thunderbird 2 out of that dive. However, I must say when I was a child watching this episode back in the 1990s, I was quite confused about Shane Rimmer voicing Scanners aboard the U.S.N. Sentinel; Scanners' voice was pretty much identical to Scott's voice that I thought it was Scott!
The music is a bit louder than it needs to be. Otherwise I LOVE IT!!! This reminds me of the VHS tape I had as a child, I was so confused when I bought the series on DVD and wondered where all the music was.
Nice job recreating the extra music, cause I grew up watching Countdown To Disaster countless times growing up I can't really watch the original broadcast version of the episode as I find the lack of extra music too distracting and breaks me enjoyment of the episode
I think I can tell you why. In the original release of the countdown to disaster video. The “changing frequency to combat jammers” line wasn’t said. However when I first saw the terror in New York City episode as a kid that line was said. So to properly answer your question. That line was omitted from the original recording. I think not having the line said gives the viewer some optimism thunderbird 2 won’t be hit but the line from Virgil basically says otherwise. No one being said makes it more suspenseful. Sorry for the long winded reply lol
Best kids series ever still watch them now & i'm nearly 65 just brilliant

This was a children's show, and yet it is better written and more sophisticated than most adult TV these days.
❤
F.A.B one of the best stories never tired of watching Thunderbirds 😊

Best version of this scene. The music really adds intensity.
The additional music really works here - having had Countdown to Disaster and watched it 1000s of times on VHS , this sequence now feels complete
Barry Gray doesn't get enough credit for his brilliant music for Gerry Anderson productions.
@ agree!!!
The added music makes this scene a lot more tense.
Thanks for uploading this! The Music for this scene,Made it more intense! Like someone said before, doesn't seem the same without this Music!

oh, that ship captain sounds very similar to commader shore from Stingray, expecially when he says "Sound battle stations"
It was the same actor: Ray Barratt
Still great to watch, timeless
The idea of brains fixing the entire aircraft by him self lol

One thing I don't get is why the people who edited this compilation muted out the line "Changing frequency to combat jammers"
That is a good question. I kept asking that ages ago.
Because the Navy didn't want anyone to know that they had the technology.
I think I can tell you why.

Because they had unintentionally revealed real, classified tech tactics from the USAF and NORAD .
Cool video!!!
Hello Genevieve Gaunt.
Its a shame the rest of the Countdown To Disaster videos along with The Man From M.I.5 - With Additional Music videos have all gone.
Copyright claims I'm afraid.
