  • When winterizing your pool, removing the ladders can sometimes be tricky. In this video, one wedge in the pool ladder hole is stubborn, corroded and stuck! Here's a step by step on how to remove it. Update: you don't have to pound on the screws, normally!

I've never had a pool myself and my friends that did have them lived in Southern California so I never even thought about anyone removing the ladder. You know what they say...you learn something every day!

So true!!! Glad to see you're still watching! Was a very busy summer, so I didn't make many videos, but more to come! Thank you for watching!

@@Fre3brd UA-cam has made it so I don't see replies when I comment. I wondered if you had seen my comment so I just checked. In some cases I'm glad I don't see replies...like on political videos where they get nasty! But in most instances I would like to see them. Oh well...

It would help if you just loosen the bolts half way or so, then tap on the heads to drive the wedge down. Don’t beat the brakes off them, haha! They shouldn’t need to go far in order to free up the ladder, and the bolts themselves will hang onto the wedges, preventing them from falling. But if you remove the bolts entirely and stick something in the holes to pound them in, you are likely going to booger your wedge threads (making it difficult or impossible to get the bolts back in) or possibly drive the wedge down too far for the bolts to reach.

Makes sense and yes, I see what you are saying and will take your advice for sure. Thank you. It's all a learning experience and why I like UA-cam!

Any suggestions on how to cover the anchors holes for the Winter? I don't want them full of water and ice and all that. Thanks for the video.

They make covers for the anchors that you can install for winter. Here's an example. poolsupplyworld.com/perma-cast-anchor-cover-cast-brass-f--1.9in.-rail-anchor/621128.html

You want to use a 1/2 " socket with a extension so don't bust your knuckles. Also not a bad idea to use gloves so you don't cut yourself on the sharp stainless steel escutcheons.

Hi great idea I am having trouble right now I will try it in a few mins do u have any tips on closing my pool I need to blow the lines can I use dry vac??

    • @Fre3brd

I used a dry vac to blow out the lines. Lower water level below skimmer and jets, bow out lines, add antifreeze, plug jets, raise water level back over jets but under skimmer. Cover. Always consult a professional though😊

Rene P. From skimmer or from filter end for blowing
