Thanks man! I’ve been wondering if replacing my 2010 MB White with this iPad would make sense in terms of simple video editing and it seems it totally would! Great content.
I've just got luma fusion on the ipad 8 and it's so much nicer to edit on - particularly with the apple pencil - than my PC with corel video studio. Renders even faster than my i7 PC too, I think. I think I'll be doing all my future video editing on the ipad and now that I can use 2.7k/4k video without smoke coming out of my PC, it gives me a lot more zoom/pan options on the ipad/lumafusion combo. BTW, you can import from Lumafusion straight off the SD card if you want to bypass the importing to photos.
can i export my edits straight off to sd card because i only have 32gb space and its pretty full.. i am planning to buy a drone and i dont have enough money on spend on a good laptop 😕
@@VGTKD There is an option to export straight to an iXpand drive (which essentially is a USB stick with an apple interface although I tend to find them a bit clunky to use) along with export to google drive / UA-cam. I am pretty confident you will be able to work something out though you may need a few gb on the iPad to use for editing.
@@quedecree thankyou soo much for your reply.. The new update in Lima fusion does allow us to export directly to external drives, so yeah its pretty cool 😎
Obviously the storage is a problem.. would downloading google photos onto the iPad, exporting the video onto the iPad and then deleting it once it’s in your google photos account be an alternative? What about exporting it into the SD card where your footage is from?
Great video! My name is Roberto, I'm from Brazil. I'm thinking of buying an ipad 9 - 256 gb to edit 30 minute videos (full hd 60 fps, two video tracks) in .mp4 I want to work with an external ssd, external monitor, mouse, keyboard. I want to use the lumafusion app... With your experience, can this ipad midi perform this workflow? What do you recommend? Is it feasible? Thank you very much!
I am just starting with video editing using iMovie and will be shooting with my iPhone 11 and eventually with my Sony mirrorless cameras. I plan in doing just simple edits with at the most two video tracks and one sound track. I don't expect to do any fancy graphics. Right now, I edit on my iPhone 11 and using iMovie and Videoshop but would like the larger screen of the iPad. Would it be advantageous to have a 256 GB iPad 7th generation over a 32 GB or 64 GB model for video editing. I just want to do simple edits but, want 4K and 4K rendering and export. How about a 7th generation iPad with a higher (say 256 GB) resolution against an 8th generation with 64 GB???
Thanks for the video! Just doing my research right now whether to invest a lot in a new laptop or maybe give an ipad a try! I am thinking of switch from editing in premiere pro (which currently just crashes my macbook everytime i start a new project) to luma fusion app on an ipad pro...
Thanks for your video. It’s very interesting ! My question is: On ipad 32g, is LUMA FUSION application can use the sd card memory connected by the Lightning port to editing videos? Is it necessary to transfert my rush videos in my iPad memory before editign and then using LUMA FUSION? I have only 10gb free on my iPad 32g. It’s not a lot memory to handle an editing 4k videos.
Can you export the done projects and relative footage to an external drive? 128 GB will eventually run out but you may want tome edit old project at some point. It would be great if luma fusion edits could be exported to Final Cut Pro x
One quick question - when importing the footage to your photo gallery - does that mean it gets stored on the internal storage which means you will run out of storage extremly fast? :) thx
D Thompson yep lumafusion stores on the device and not on the external hard drive so you want enough storage on your iPad, also depending on what you want to do length wise and quality wise. Just received the 2020 iPad 8th generation 128Go and it will sure work 😉
I bought recently an "unofficial" sd card adapter for the ipad, but it takes forever to copy a 4k clip with 4gb to the ipad storage. Is that normal, or it should be much faster if i bought a official card reader? Thanks for the help and for the video.
Iam getting confused do i need to format the sd cars so that the ipad is avle to read all the pics and videos and main question What if i want to export the video back to the sd card would i be able to view it on my windows pc.
Sylvester John ive used it for months now for video editing in lumafusion app it handles videos very very well i have not had a problem... i use photos app to transfer videos with sd card reader no problem except videos from dslr no previews but i worked around it...files app kinda buggy and freezes
Short, quick, and to the point.
Thanks for a great video man.

Thank you
How long (approximately) will it take to transfer 5gb of 4k footage to the ipad via lightning from sd card? Reply please
I want to know too
Plugged equipment What is that called
What was the black dongle called you plugged into the iPad? Do you have the link for that one? Great video, just bought that iPad!

Transfers to the iPad are slow
the lighting port or ipad only supported USB2.0.
Iam getting confused do i need to format the sd cars so that the ipad is avle to read all the pics and videos and main question

You cannot export back onto and card unfortunately. You’d need to do it via I cloud or google photos or dropbox
The only right answer: yes but slow
even for short videos?
@@EdselJean the editing process is slow, the rendering also.
I wouldn't recommend editing on an ipad anyways, rather get a laptop
So you suggest this iPad 7th gen will get the video editing work done. Can I go for this iPad 7th gen for doing some video editing thing now and then

yes
Which software do u use for edit on Ipad?
LumaFusion
Wht i should get an iPad though rather than a expensive laptop
Perhaps!
If you're on a budget yes. But editing on pc is still better for professional work.
