- I never knew this was a feature until someone asked about it on a Facebook group so I had to investigate further.
Using your phone you can now track yourself with the gimbal just like the new Ronin SC can do.

WOW!!!!!!!! Thanx a lottttttt for this.... i really love my AK2K now....... because of u brother....
Do you have the smiley face icon? I don't have it is it depending on the phones?
🤔🤔🤔
Thanks for this video. I have watched many videos about the AK2000. You are the first that I have seen to share this feature. Well done!
thank you
Thank you for posting this! It's nice to know there's so many cool features with the ak2000! The ak4500 can wait a little longer :)
Got your fix, you want your front facing camera to the right, then all is awesome and works great with the front facing camera and screen... It's a gyro sync issue..
OH EM GEE dude, i’ve been searching for an answer for this for
DAYS and i find it on this random comment of all things. Bless your soul may you survive the pandemic you amazing person
@@usernamehandle glad it was useful..
Thank you for the video, what mode is
It in HF ?
I bought this on the strength of your videos and subbed to your channel. I cannot believe your sub count is not higher. Great videos.
I can't believe it either 😂😂😂 I'm trying
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography my opinion is yt dont promote like they used to. That goes to the big creators. My channel goes all over the place at times, so I expect it. Yours should be out there with the others.
Do you have a tutorial how to set up the motion tracking?
No sorry I don’t. I should have done that part really
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography i need one too lol
:\
Thank you for the great video. 04/2021 purchased the AK2000 mainly for the motion tracking feature.
As short as possible. Blue box around face does not appear automatically I have to drag it. Then when I also try the green box dragging it across the phone and click the lock icon it track for a second or two and then it just goes off in a route to nowhere. Would you be able to do a video that goes more in depth. I have been trying different set ups. Short of using a different phone is all I have not tried.
I can look into this at some point. I haven't used my AK for over a year. I did read someone in the comments suggested turning the phone around. So if your phone camera is on the right, turn it to the left. No idea if that works as not tried it but worth a go
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography oh ok. Will try that. Or does it matter if its an android or apple...? As reading comments also made sure I was running updated firmware just ij case but did not solve issue.
@@davee6916 I'm an Android user so haven't tested it with an IOS device. If I get a chance I'll give it a go myself
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography yeah me too. Except for that since it was a phone that was gifted am able to use as camera only.
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography
I kept playing with different things. Finally gave up with apple phone. Put my android phone... . And I am happy to inform that it works with it without problems... seems to be an apple phone problem. Dont know if its the specific model. Though I doubt as I tried two different apple phones.
I successfully did this a few years ago withcmy phone and a Fujifilm camera. I cant figure out how to set it up now.
Graeme, your vids are so helpful..thanks man!
Thank you, glad you like them
so this a feature on the gimbal? awesome!! (i guess i should update firmware /app haha
just open the app feiyutech and select camera, then using your finger click and drag a square around the object you want to track!
Hello there. Can you talk about the settings of the program to be followed, I was not successful in my own trials. I did not understand if you mentioned in the video because I do not know enough English, can you please help?
just open the app feiyutech and select camera, then using your finger click and drag a square around the object you want to track!
VERY IMPRESSIVE!!!
Sorry, can you show us step by step how to do this? I connect the phone with the gimbal, then I connect camera with the gimbal, but next what? What camera application do you use for tracking? I have a Sony A6400 by the way. Do I just use my phone camera, or is it a function of the gimbal menu? Thank you!
You need to use the FeiyuTech app for the tracking and connect the phone to the gimbal. I could be wrong with my next statement here and Graeme should be able to correct me but for just the tracking I don't think it's necessary to connect the gimbal to the camera. I don't think the tracking feature on the app does anything with the focus on your camera.
Gerald Bertram Photography I cannot find the tracking feature on the app. Where is it? How do I enable this mode? Maybe it’s a new feature and I need to wait for an update? Or it was there all the time?
It goes something like this.
Mount your phone onto your camera, balance and turn on the gimbal. Open the Feiyu app and wait for it to connect to the gimbal. Once it's connected press the little Feiyu logo on the top left of the app (android, unsure of location on IOS).
You'll see a small camera icon at the top, press it and it opens up what looks like a normal camera app. On the right you should see a little smily face icon, press it and it will turn red and now if you have a face in front of the camera it will put a green box around the face. Press the green box so it turns red and it should now track the face and move the gimbal.
Hope that helps
@@ManosEpitropakis There was an update just today but from reading the release notes apparently the tracking feature has been there since v3. The latest version is 3.2.10. Make sure you are using the Feiyu ON app. I will also say I am on Android and it appears Graeme is as well. I am not sure if this is all the same on iPhone.
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography Thank you so much!!! I didn't even know that this section was existing! I just tried it out and it really works, but yes, actually with the problem you mentioned in your excellent video! Let's hope Faiyutech will fix it in order to work with the rear camera right! Anyway, thank you again!!!
how did you do it? on the feiyu on app on android I can't get any live view.... thanks
Finally I've understood how to activate the motion tracking, you have to start the Feiyu On app and select the camera feature. Than you need to use your finger to drag a rectangle around the object you want to track...but for me is not working ok...i don't know why is still OK in the opposite direction...of you have any suggestions, please help! Thanks
Uodate: Using the Samsung S10e with the frontal camera in the upper left ,works perfect!I’ve tested without the camera, with the only phone, and the gimbal was struggling in some movements...with camera and phone si ok.
I believe it really comes down to which side you put the front facing camera. if it's on one side and it doesn't work, flip the phone over so the camera is on the other and it may work.
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography yep yep...I've solved, but sometimes the gimbal start to shake itself...don't know why...probably because isn't perfectly balanced...but with the phone mounted above,is quite impossible...I can't balance the tilt correctly
@@FrankP83 Agree, I don't think the the design is right. It can't balance when the phone makes it so top heavy. The Ronin SC has the same problem with stability
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography this is my first ever gimbal..need to understand a lot of stuff...maybe jn the future I will upgrade to something different 🤗
@@FrankP83 it's a great gimbal, takesa little time to learn but stick with it
SO I don't have the face tracking option on the last version of the app. I've contacted Feiytech and they told me they were working on it! Apparently they are trying to solve some issues with it. So maybe soon we could enjoy again this awesome feature but I don't know when.
There was certainly a few issues so good to hear they're working on it
just open the app feiyutech and select camera, then using your finger click and drag a square around the object you want to track!
New update v1.10 will disable HF-R, TF-R, LK-R mode, right? I dont like this version
Not sure, have to say I don't really use those modes
I have the same issue, I can not enter the roll follow modes (HF-R, TF-R, LK-R) with Gimbal firmware 1.010. Also, When I set the trigger button to FAST FOLLOW in the app, it doesn't work in LK mode, holding the button doesn't do anything. It works fine if I set it to PAN&TILT FOLLOW. This might be an app issue though, I am not sure.
Thanks for sharing. I have a question about tracking. Is there anyway of doing object tracking of maybe a building, a point on a building . So as to use it for hyperlapse videos.
Good question. I don't know if it can track and object. Their code might be designed to recognise a face/body only.
Thanks for that@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography appreciate the come back.
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography i really hope it works with objects, i gotta shoot some rollers with this thing haha
What is the name of the application that you used on your phone to make the video feedback via ak2000
It's called Feiyu ON
Hi Graeme, thanks for your effort in showing us the face tracking with Feiyutech!
Am I right in saying it's NOT an operator? IMHO an operator would keep my face in the upper portion of the frame, not in the center.
I've been trying to do it with the new Moza AirCross2, and it's the same. IMHO it's just ok for a showcase, but if you want to make a good, one-person-crew, talking head, while moving... it's not working...
ciao!
Marco
I never experienced anything I could 100% trust to do one man crew type things but it was still a good idea
Good job 👍my ak2000 I can't balance it horizontally with my Panasonic g7 lumix I think it's light weight, have any idea how to solve it? Thanks
I added an extra mounting plate to the main plate to add a bit more weight if I use my G80/G85 with a kit lens
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography thanks for your answer, hope to know how much grams need, because I order it from China but I live it russia it takes around one month just to be sure, thanks for your time
I'm sorry I don't know. The G80 is light with a lit lens and I have only added a few grams extra
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography thanks a lot for your time 👍 keep it up 👌
install the feyutech app and plug it into the gimbal, then go to "engine power and lower the level until you find it ideal for your camera"
Anyone managed to get this to work with the AK4500? it says in the manual that it has the feature but I can't get it to work! Your reviews are the best out there
Peace from 🇸🇪
Is it doing something in software to account for the fact that the lens of the camera is much lower than the lens of the phone? I would think you would be in the center on the phone but at the top of the screen on the camera.
Does it only track the face? can it track body like in a sport game?
Id like to know too
No it will track a object you select as well..
How do you set it up so it follows your face? How do you connect the phone to the camera, the camera to the gimball and the phone to the gimball?
just open the app feiyutech and select camera, then using your finger click and drag a square around the object you want to track!
hey how u balance it with the wmartphone? balance the camera first, or balance with the smartphone tho?
You have to balance it with the phone mounted to the camera
Hey friend! Did you try already the new firmware for ak2000 v1010, they released it in august. I kinda thing updating to it, but still not sure, because you didn't recommend to upgrade to the v1008, mabe this new one is not much better. If you tried, let me know your thaughts. Thanks!
I have been informed it's not great but have yet to try it. I will update shortly and share my thoughts
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography Thankyou very much)
I updated the firmware and don't seem to have any problems so nut sure where the problems are. I can't see any changes apart from the pan on the joystick is better/faster
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography with firmware 1.010 I can not enter the roll follow modes (HF-R, TF-R, LK-R). Also, When I set the trigger button to FAST FOLLOW in the app, it doesn't work in LK mode, holding the button doesn't do anything. It works fine if I set it to PAN&TILT FOLLOW. This might be an app issue though, I am not sure.
Which app are you using? I can't find an option like that on my feyuon app
Yes brother.. i also wanna ask same question.. what apps u use?
just open the app feiyutech and select camera, then using your finger click and drag a square around the object you want to track!
hi i have a problem with my feiyutech ak2000 stabilizer. the problem is that it crashed in LK mode and I cannot change it on the touch screen. I can change all the options on the stabilizer screen, except the pan modes. I hope you can help me.
I've never heard of it crashing and stopping it working after switching it off and on again. Possibly try conecting it to the Feiyu app or updating the firmware.
Anyone else have it work? I connected the phone with both the gimbal and the camera, but in the app I can only see the image seen by my phone's camera. I can't find a way to switch to the camera image...
It doesn't show you the camera image. It only shows the phone screen as it uses that data for the tracking
Why i cant do auto rotation? My camera was locked both initial and end point.
Where exactly can I find that tracking option the app ? I don't see any button or something like that on my phone
just open the app feiyutech and select camera, then using your finger click and drag a square around the object you want to track!
Is it possible to do this function with the panasonic G7? Can you make a tutorial for us? I tried to make my camera connect but the image does not appear in the app to do the tracking
The camera doesn't have anything to do with this function. It's just the phone and the gimbal so your G7 should work no problem
just open the app feiyutech and select camera, then using your finger click and drag a square around the object you want to track!
I have the A200S dose this work on it I have yet to find the settings on the gimbal and the app. I am using a Sony a6400 the Feiyu a2000s and the Samsung s20 with the Feiyu on app. Great video keep up the great work.
i believe Feiyu pulled the feature while they work on it to make it better
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography ok bummer hope they bring it back soon. And thank you so much for your quick reply. You made me a Subscriber because of it.
Hi, is there motion memory with this gimbal?
It's been so long since I've used this gimbal that I don't actually know, sorry.
May I ask what app are you using?
It's the Feiyu On app
that's pretty cool. i'm planning to get the ak4000. does that have the same motion tracking feature in ak4000??
Yes I believe it does
Don't buy it. I replaced it with the AK2000, because it's much heavier and you cannot make a 360 degree roll.
It will be heavier because it's designed to carry heavier cameras
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography Yes, for example Cine Cameras, but you can put larger cameras like the Panasonic S1 onto the AK2000, so it's more than okay for 90% of the users.
Of course. Budget and payload will be the deciding option for many but the good thing is there's a Feiyu AK for everyone
Can I use this feature on the Sony a6300? Thanks
Doesn't matter what camera you use for this mode
How can do it sir pls video
Use mirror behind the phone!
i need a help how to connect phone and tracking plz help me drive ak2000 with sony a7ii
just open the app feiyutech and select camera, then using your finger click and drag a square around the object you want to track!
Do you know if it is possible with the feyutech a1000?
I don't know as not had that gimbal
just try by yourself opening the app feiyutech and select camera, then using your finger click and drag a square around the object you want to track!
If you're on your own why don't you just flip your phone around so it faces you?
It has to use the main camera and not the front facing one
