- A quick review about my first thoughts of the Feiyu Tech AK2000 gimbal.
I've only had this for a couple of days so thought I'd share my initial thoughts.
I will do another video later when I've had a good use with the gimbal.
2 things to note in this video. The B-roll shots near the end are shot on the GH4 with a Sigma 17-35 f/2.8 attached using the Viltrox EF-M2 adapter...
Secondly...don't play with with your dog before going on camera and wondering why you're covered in fur :)
If you have any questions about the gimbal just ask below and I'll see if I can help out.

Just want to thumbs up to Feiyu. I have 2. I bought an SPG (splash proof model) just to check Feiyu build quality. It was great, so I bought an a2000 with handle kit. It's great too. If I buy another camera for my projects, I would pick up an AK for sure. Great review, thanks for your hard work.
After much research this is the gimbal I chose and I like it. It's a nice balance between functionality and mobility.
How has it been since 8 months?
I want to buy it for vlogging.
finally a review that shows how good this gimbal is. So many reviews out there complaining about vibrations when most of the time its due to poor balancing.
Yeah by simply choosing the correct payload setting the vibrations will stop. I'll make another video about this I think. Thanks
AK2000 seems there is a big improvement comparing a2000. With the touch LED screen, will be very convenient. Love it.
Thank you for your generosity on taking the time to make this video and sharing your knowledge and your review on this Gimbal. Also you have a beautiful family God bless. Thank you again
Thank you
This is pretty much my favorite thing in my cinema tool kit.
Great review. The AK2000 is a very good gimble. The built quality is solid and the handling is superb. It is my go to gimble.
I have used the gimbal more. I would definitely reccomend this gimbal as it is really cheap and the battery lasts very long and is a very solid build. the case it comes in is also very useful, thank you for your review
This product is great. The tripod stand it comes with is surprisingly sturdy.
Great review! Am I the only one who was nervous his camera was going to fall off the table for two minutes??
The AK2000 is very stable, more cost-effective than the other, with carbon fiber extension bar is really a piece of photographic wonders, this is the best camera stabilizer I have used, very professional.
Good review and tutorial video, it is helpful for beginners, The gimbal looks very smart , I like the follow focus design and the big touchable screen
Great review! Thank you Graeme!
Thank you 😊
This is a solution for a very light cameras just like mine:
Anybody who use this great gimbal with a lightweight camera (camcorder or photo camera) fight with the problem of the pan axis balance. The main reason why this axis can’t balance because the vertical arm can’t slide enough to it’s end position (there is marking on the arm with the 5 cm sign, but in the real life it’s going to 4.1 or 4.2 maximum). To unlock this deficiency you must unscrew the four philips screw, and unscrew the three hexagon socket screw. One is visible at the front of the arm, the another two is come up after you unscrew the four philips and remove the plastic cover. Take care of it’s rear end because it’s glued to the arm. When you unscrew the two rear hexagon screw now it’s removable the rear limiter what is prevent so far the arm sliding to the end of the marks (now my gimbal’s vertical arm sets to 5.5 cm what is much enough. The good pan axis balance for my Panasonic HDC-HS 100 camcorder with approx. 450 gramm weight is at the 5.0 cm mark.) After the remove of the rear limiter you take back the plastic cover, however now you can only screw the two philips at the front. That’s all.
Hey Graeme! Great review!! I have an Ikan gimbal I love. I’ve subbed!!
your logo credit is super awesome Mr. Simpson.
Thanks
What functions AK2000 can control on camera A6500 when connected via USB cable?
Thanks for the review.
I do struggle to hear what you are saying. Not sure why. But thanks for the video I got mine today and you helped that choice.
I'm not the clearest speaker, sorry. Glad you got one though, you'll enjoy it
Make sure you update the AK2000 from the "Feiyu On" App, with the latest firmware. If you have problems downloading the latest Feiyu On App, use the older app V2.1.25.
@shine a light ... What thing i have to do when my gimbal had failed upgrade firmware from 10.08 to 10.11 by feiyu on app...?
Verry nice tutorial... Thank you
Thank you Subbed mate.
Great product
Really helpful review. The quick music swell when you pause to collect your thoughts is surprisingly annoying though.
Thank a lot!
Great video!!🇯🇵
Hey how easy is it to travel with, can I break it down and store it in a bag easily? Relative to the size of a gorillapod, how will u describe it as size wise? Thanks alot
The main handle is still quite big but would pack down into a slim space easily. The A2000 is smaller and has a great travel case but the AK2000 has a DJI styled hard case which takes up more room. See my unboxing video here ua-cam.com/video/UqgmbMecSMo/v-deo.html to get a sense of size when broken down.
La intro de tu video me hizo suscribirme, jajaja
Hi. Are there any instructions on how to connect the Canon 80D cable and the AK2000 ? Thanks
What should be the Canon 80D and AK2000 connection cable? Maybe you can link? Thank you
@@VidasAkmantas There will be only one cable that fits. I believe it should have come with the kit. To see how it is connected see this image: www.graemesimpsonphotography.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/ak2000-cable.jpg
Could you do a wind resistance test on these gimbal?, shooting outside of the window of a moving car. As this is a big concern for me cause i shoot a lot of automobile vids. Thanks 😃
I'll have to see what I can do. i think in action mode it could work well in wind
Did a quick test today for you. take note this is hand held whilst i'm driving so most of the wobble is from me fighting the wind alone. The gimbal is set up with the GH4, Canon 24-105 f/4.0 and a Rode video micro mic on top with dead cat/wind jammer ua-cam.com/video/_ifGGDo3UBA/v-deo.html

Yeah she is 😄
nice review, just ordered this for myself, could you touch on the weight of the camera on it? Im planning on using my 5d mkiv and a 24-70 on it. just a little worried about the weight of the camera on the gimbal.
cheers!
According to the Feiyu Tech website it states that it can carry the 5D mkIV and the 24-70 so you'll have no problem. I think it's a manageable weight to carry. I currently use the GH4 with the Canon 24-105 f/4 lens and it's not too bad
Hey, AK2000 holds 5DMKIV? or is to big? like 5D plus 24-70 2.8 is like 4.5lbs, but I don't know about the size....excellent video!!
Yes it can carry that camera and that lens according to their website
Just bought one - all the controls make sense but my Sony a6300 can take a photo, but I can't figure out how to put it into rec mode. The ISO doesn't appear to do anything either. Can't find any info on it anywhere.
I don't know the Sony system but are you using the cable? Is there a WiFi option so you can pair the human and the app to make not functions work?
how you set the remote fonction? I have a gh5 but I dont know how to activate it to start recording from ak200 thank you
You need to plug in the cable from the gimbal to the camera to enable the activation
Does the AK2000 support canon 5d camera?
Hi, yes it Does
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography thanks
How can you manual focus while using this Gimbal? (I don't understand the whole app thing)
Does the gimbal allow you to change the Focus?
Yes if your camera works with the gimbal. For example, I use the GH4 and I have to connect the gimbal app to my camera for it to change focus
Hi, Tell me was any update software last time? Do you have stil problem with 1sec pause when you make time-lapse video?
The latest firmware update has fixed the 1 sec delay (I last updated last Thursday 15th Nov). You can now set the dwell and interval to zero so there is no more problem
can you give me the link to purchase the extension pole that you show at 14:30 minutes into the video ?
certainly. It's this pole: bit.ly/2Jxgfoo
Hy, Do I need to connect the Wifi on the gimbal and camera simultaneously to start recording with the remote control cable or will there be a way to command my Lumix DMC FZ 2000 in a simpler way without spending so much time and battery ??
I'm not sure with that camera as I've not used it. If it's anything like the GH4/G80/G85 then you don't need the cable and you use the wifi connection. It doesn't use much extra power in the grand scheme of things.
Graeme I'm on the hunt for a strap to use with my AK2000. Basically something where when I'm done shooting I can just hang the gimbal from a strap around my shoulder. A search through amazon and I'm mostly just seeing ones for the Ronin S. Any thoughts?
i've used a small strap mount screwed into the 4/20 threaded point on the back of the handle and used an old camera strap. Thinking about it now I could thread it between the feet as well to give it more stability
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography Do you think that little mounting hole up near the top/head above the screen area would be strong enough place to hang from if I used a strap that screws into there? Something like this: www.amazon.com/dp/B01NASPXSR/ref=sxbs_sxwds-stvpv2_2?pf_rd_p=6375e697-f226-4dbd-a63a-5ec697811ee1&pd_rd_wg=PGiwG&pf_rd_r=P4FJBY0DSWA1GXXEX0G0&pd_rd_i=B01NASPXSR&pd_rd_w=gV7WH&pd_rd_r=ed5af404-4910-4c06-a1dc-b0a80fd3a38c&ie=UTF8&qid=1544648661&sr=2
Hello sir! I have a problems with the camera angles set by hand. The manual and other source said the camera angle can set with hand by turning the camera in the desired position hold it for a half second and the gimbal stay in that position. But my ak2000 just do this in the tilt direction. In pan and roll axis direction is jumping back. I try it in every mode (hf, tf, af, lk). I forgot something to set or my gimbal not work right?
update the firmware?
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography It's done sir. 1.011 on the machine. But interesting when I search for update the Feiyu app recommend the installed update again not say it is updated the latest.
Thanks for a comprehensive review. Do you know if this would work with the Lumix G7?
i think it would be able to carry it but unsure if the software works with the camera (so you'd not be able to stop/start recording from the gimbal, you'd have to do it as you would now by pressing the camera buttons)
Graeme Simpson Photography Thanks! Would you still be able to use the tilt wheel on the side?
@@EPHONIC yes for tilting, rotating and leaning the camera it would still work
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography Thank you again. I appreciate it.
Can I connect Canon 70d to the gimbal for changing camera settings like iso ?
Thanks for the review
I'm not sure. The specs only say 80D. Thanks
Does this Dji rotate, pan, roll unlimited 360 also with GoPro 7?
FeiyuTech AK2000 is really hot!!!
Hello, I have a question about the follow focus on the AK2000 with a Panasonic GH4. The follow focus is working without the external motor ? with any lens ?
So far it's worked with my kit lens (14-42) and then all my Canon glass using the viltrox ef-m2 adapter
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography Thanks for your answer. So I guess that the follow focus depends on the camera body and not on a specific lens. That's a good news :)
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography I am looking for the best gimbal to use with the GH4. Maybe this is the one... I watched your videos about the AK2000 and you look satisfied about it... don't you?
Great review! My new Ak 2000 is amazing! but i can't control my Gh5S trough the shutter cable connection, can't record and cant change iso, some help please?
use wifi
Does the gimbal allow you to change the camera aperture and shutter speed?
It can change ISO and exposure
after pressing the gimbal 3 times for selfie mode, what button should we press again to return it from its orignal position?
I think you press it 3 times again
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography how about sir, when the gimbal goes anywhere like u did in one of your tutorial u said never mind that i miss handle that, how can u reset that in normal position, ?
@@melizabriones9847 sorry, i'm not sure what you mean
Have you notice any vibrations of the motor when panning up,down, left, right using the wheel?
I did at first but then I changed the payload settings to a correct mode and it has stopped
@@GraemeSimpsonPhotography Tried that. It worked. Thanks
It vibrates when i am using the auto mode for load selection. Solution is to pick the correct load range setting, and it will perform smoothly.
You did mention about the front trigger. What does it do and can you customize it?
Long press puts it into fast follow mode and double tapping resets the position back to default
So it can’t be used to lock all the motors instantly like with Moza and DJI?
@@crispywisp you use the touch screen to lock all motors to that position
Graeme Simpson Photography oh... I think that’s not very easy to access. I got used to the lock trigger of Moza that I use so much to create cinematic shots. I was considering this as an alternative lighter gimbal for traveling outside the country. Now I’m not sure if I’m gonna get it. Thanks for the quick response!
@@crispywisp sorry i got it wrong. it's not a touch screen option (well it is as well) but it's a simple press of one of the buttons below the screen to put it into lock mode. possibly not as intuitive as their previous models and other manufacturers but it's not a huge amount of work to put it into hold
Does this work with Nikon cameras?
It will be able to hold most cameras including Nikon
Are the handles between the A2000 and AK2000 interchangeable? Just wondering if they would work as I have a dual handle from the A2000 and I haven't seen a dual handle for the AK2000 announced.
I would imagine not. The ak2000 requires 4 batteries and the dual handle can only carry 2
Probably running the same voltage though. Just wanted to know if you had tried it since you had both on you.
@@sethsumaraga6416 sorry, I don't have the dual handle to try it. Also, the wheel and software in the handle wouldn't be there in the a2000 dual handle so possibly another incompatibility issue
You can always try it with the single handle. For the A2000, the software is actually in the gimbal motors and not the handle. But it is possible that they changed this in the AK2000
Feiyutech company said they will release a dual handle for ak series in the future
with my feiyu ak2000 i experience jitters and jerks, and when i pan and tilt up and keep panning it jerks and pauses before switching to the roll motor to pan when im looking up. Does this happen to you? Pls help me, is this a normal issue with other gimbals? Might it be fixed with firmware? It is great for the most part but sometimes it jitters and goes crazy, is this a normal problem with gimbals? It dosnt always work perfect, should i return it and get the heavy ronin s? or wait for a firmware upgrade? I really love the features and touchscreen and the very strong motors
(Keep in mind this dosnt always happen just every once in a while)
once i'd set the payload settings correct and balanced it correctly I don't have a problem with any jitters
Graeme Simpson Photography might it be because i tried updating it even though it had the latest firmware?
@@jimmyhidalgo2680 I wouldn't have thought so. It might have reset any settings you changed before updating though
Graeme Simpson Photography might i have a faulty unit? Might it be fixed with the next firmware? Are occasional jitters and other small quirks normal with dslr gimbals?
Graeme Simpson Photography ua-cam.com/video/QJUB-M9rEMU/v-deo.html this only happened to me this long once but every once in a while i have some jerks like these, not too often but it does happen, also it dosnt always feel consistently reaponsive
I have a Nikon 3200 d will this work on my Nikon DSLR
It will be able to balance it but I don't know if some of the camera controls will work as have not tried a Nikon
hi,can connect nikon d5300???
On the specs it only mentions the D850
After power on , The Gimbal is continuously rotating , is it a noraml phenomena ? What is the reason ?
I would say try calibrating it. See the manual of how to do it
how did you update the firmware im having trouble how to update the firmware using windows 10..
I did mine through the app on android
Is it compatible with canon 77D camera?
Has anybody experienced that the touch screen does not work? When I turn it on it just bright white but does not react to anything. However the joystick works and I can also connect to the app.
I've not seen that happen to mine.sounds like a faulty unit
Happened to me as wel several times. I just restart the gimbal when that happens.
Vojtěch Krása First time it also worked for me, but now doesn't.
Need to switch it on-off again. Probably a minor bug.
This happened to me after a frimware upgrade.... just remove the batteries and put them back in
I'm using a GH5 but can't seem to get the focus-ring to work.
gh5 not support... gh4 and gh5s support.. . this is crazy china APP)))))) . i return ak2000 and buy other ))
LAPAPA me to
if you have GH5 under remote control don't work with this gimbal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, Ak2000 not support connection with GH5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've heard others have had no problem
im having troubles moving my gimbal and contolling the camera with the joystick at the same time. if i keep the gimbal steady i can move the camera with the joystick perfectly. as soon as i add a second motion with the whole gimbal, the joystick movement becomes very slow, almost to nothing. does anybody else has the same problem>>>>?
Mine does the same thing. So I don't think your unit is faulty. I can't move the joystick and add motion at the same time. It's a bit frustrating and I hope it gets fix through firmware.
alright, thanks for the answer. maybe ill adress feiyu tech directly, because i think this is an essential thing for gimbal work. do you know if other brands like zhiyun or dji have the same issue? greeting@@TortangTalongBT
I can confirm that the Moza Aircross doesn’t behave like the Feiyu AK200 i can add motion and controll the joystick at the same time.
hmm okay, thanks mate
you can fine tune the AK2000 from the Feiyu On phone app, mine being the Android V2.1.25 version. Make sure you has the latest Firmware. My AK2000 was a mess when I got it, took me days to work out to get the firmware to work.
I have the Ronin-M and the Feiyu Tech a1000, I find my self using the a1000 more often because its so easy. How does the control cable on the AK2000 work for the start/stop recording on the GH5? Thank you!
I'm not 100% sure on this as I use the Wi-Fi of the camera and the Feiyu Go app to enable stop/start recording
Does follow focus work with Samsung NX1?
I don't know about that one as I can't test it. Hopefully someone watching can help out
niceeeeee intro
What's the weight on the ak2000?
1252g (not inclusive of battery, shutter release cable, camera, lens and so forth)
Any way to use app with a G9?
I would think it does

Can you follow pan and tilt but not roll?
Joseph Chamberlain yess
@@jimmyhidalgo2680 getting mine in the mail tomorrow. Hoping I don't encounter some of the problems folks have had. Seems like if you follow balancing instructions and have the latest firmware things seem to be working now. Would you agree?
Joseph Chamberlain yes every once in a while it has jitters like most other gimbals on the market, hopefully feiyu tech releases a new firmware soon to fix many things, dont worry too much it usually works just fine but sometimes i do complicated movements, and try to take care of it, ive been very hard on this gimbal so that might have something to do with it as well as the fact that i upgraded the firmware 3 times when i wasnt supposed too. (The current version was at 1.04 and the latest upgrade was at 1.04 and it is not recommended to update if it has the latest firmware) Hope you have a great experience with this gimbal!
