I had the privilege of attending a piano evening recital of his in Nuremberg last year(2023). There were 3 grand pianos on the stage and for the first half of his recital he performed a few Chopin Nocturnes, each one 3 times on each of the 3 pianos! We were audibly blessed with him repeating those pieces twice and I got to hear some of my favourite nocturnes like Op. 55 No. 2 on double repeat by a pianist I had adored and binge-listened to for years online :,) After the intermission, he played Chopin Sonata 2 and Szymanowski Variations on a Polish Folk Theme, and I can't recall how emotional I got with his perfect rendition of the 2nd Sonata, but again I was in disbelief that the finest living pianist was pouring out his heart into one of the greatest pieces ever. I'm lucky and thankful I had the chance to witness this legend live before me.
You were extremely lucky. I also attend once his recital in Hamburg and he played among other things Chopin's Fantaisie in F minor. It was absolutely breath-taking.
@@malomonsaingeon1861 He was opposed to missile shields against Russia being built in his home country of Poland. Also, U.S. airport security destroyed one of his custom-built pianos he brought into the country for performance and damaged another.
From a Concert in Japan, the original 2 hour concert was taken down but you can search the Mozart Sonata N16 by Zimerman and the individual recording Is there, he also Played Ravel Valses nobles et sentimentales, Gershwin preludes and Beethoven 8th Sonata.
0:33 he really looked like Chopin😂
I was literally thinking the same thing
