  • Running my 2016 Phoenix 721 powered by a 250 HP Mercury Pro XS from point au roche to Missisquoi bay on Lake Champlain. Video was filmed on May 1st 2016 and its a 17 mile trip. I start out slow since I just warmed the motor up and its my first run of the day. After a few minutes I open it up and let her ride around 78.5 mph. I vary jack plate heights but find my current setting to be the best. I have Dual power pole blades 10' and 4 batteries in the back. I have about 30lbs of tackle in the front which is all my tackle and a full rod locker as well. Later this day I made a long run with full livewells which is combined 40 gallons and held it steady at 77.8 mph. Im turning a 26 pitch Mercury Fury prop but I am getting it worked to a 25.5 pitch and having it balanced so I might beable to break 80 in the future.

Sound of that Mercury would have been nice! Is there sound, or is it my lap top?

I thinking of getting a Phoenix 721 as my next boat, How important is getting a Hydraulic Jack Plate with this boat?

Not sure if you already got a boat but for 1,500 you can't pass it up. I bought my 721 with a manual JP and on dealer setting was only hitting 67 mph. I did adjust the height and was able to hit 73. I then got an 12" atlas hydraulic JP and hit 78 regularly and see further potential with a worked prop. I'll tell ya, with the manual JP you'll have to make very small adjustments as too much will take away from holeshot to top end to handling. Each adjustment would have to run for the day so within 2 months I only made about 8 or 9 adjustments..with hydraulic you can adjust instantly for any situation..we'll worth the money.
