Gentleman Jim Reeves. His voice along with his manner was awesome. I remember watching the TV when his plane was missing and they had authorities out looking for it. It was a sad day and a big loss. Beautiful voice. He was a real singer.
You can find most all of his recordings here on UA-cam, type his name in the bar and have loads of fun hearing this man. Most of his music was recorded at Bradley Studios in Nashville Tennessee known as the Nashville Sound. Jim and Chet Atkins a super great guitarist were responsible for the inception of the Nashville sound to include the vibraphone and strings backing the artist! Keep in mind these songs from that time period were recorded in one large room maybe with some sound screens, otherwise everyone had to know their job to record these priceless songs in one take!
Jim Reeves was an American country & popular music singer-songwriter from the 50's-80's. He was known as "Gentleman Jim". He had many great hits such as "Mexican Joe", "Bimbo", "Four Walls", "He'll Have To Go", "Adios Amigo", "Welcome To My World", "Am I Losing You?", "I Love You Because", "I Won't Forget You", "Make The World Go Away", "Missing You" "I Can't Stop Loving You" etc. He was only 40 years old when he died in a plane crash. But he left a great legacy of music behind.
Jim Reeves had what it takes to be a living legend. Gone entirely too soon. My dad played professionally in the late 40s and 50s. If you closed you're eyes you would think Jim Reeves was singing. Ironically my dad would have been 100 yesterday. Thank you for reacting to this song. Elton John did a cover of this song y'all should check out. Shawn you are a lucky man
This came out when I was a kid. My mother loved this song. When it came on the radio, everything came to a stop until it was over. We dared not make sound while Jim was singing.
Known as "Gentleman Jim Reeves", this is his signature sound. Other great examples are, "Make The World Go Away", "Welcome To My World", and "Am I Losing You?".
I grew up listening to Jim Reeves. My mother listened to him and He'll have to go was her favorite of his songs. What a one of a kind, amazing voice! Love his music..
In Belize in East carribean we Love JIM REEVES old to young in the 70 that that's play on the radio we didn't have TV . I've dance kiss to Jim Reeves. On Sunday nothing better than Jim all day on the radio with Patsy Cline, loretta Lynn so on.
Another great song by Jim Reeves that I haven't seen mentioned yet is "Distant Drums". We listened to his greatest album growing up...it was one of my dad's favourite records.
This took me way back. What a voice Jim Reeves had! I never thought about this as a girl, but he had to be calling her from a phone booth indoors, probably at a bar. “I’ll tell the man to turn the juke box way down low.” There was no caller ID, so she answered the phone not knowing who called. Did she answer yes or no?
Thank you guys for playing Jim Reeves,I've been a fan since junior high 45 years ago.Since it's wintertime, may I suggest Jim's classic"The Blizzard",a great story song and a tearjerker too
I have been listening to him sing sense 1980. Im 49 now he is and always will be one of my favorites of all time I have stage 3 fibrosis but each and ever time I can I will listen to him
My father had a beer with Jim R. Back in his airforce days in texas. My father had all his records too. He played them when he would drink. I still remeber those days growing up. Now 63yrs old
Jim Reeves had one of the best voices in Country music. He was such a talent. The only competitor he had for the top spot was Don Williams (my personal favorite). Thanks for doing this one for us, and best wishes in 2022.
My mother had almost all the LPs he had released. I learnd about Jim through my mother's heavy use of pickups on the gramophone. Some of her records were quite worn down. When I got a little older, I tried to renew her record collection and replace the most worn LPs. It has been several years since I lost my beloved Mother. But I inherited her record collection and combined with my own collection I have pretty much everything Jim has released as well as several compilation albums. If you have been so impressed of "He'll have to go", you have many good experiences waitig for you, dear Shawn and Mel. -Enjoy. . .
I remember hearing him sing a song that could have been called “little child”. I played one of his gospel albums over and over in the mid 1960s because of that song but cannot remember the title.
Oh the sweet memories. Of all6 of us kids sitting on the sofa . Watching Mom and Dad sway twirling and Dipping across the living room. Thx for sharing ♥ your reaction.
I love watching your reactions. I grew up with this music, but watching you guys are rediscover it, brings a whole new dimension and appreciation to it. Know, what you are doing is very uniting.
This is my first night watching your channel. I must say that you two have the most feeling and expression of any other music reactions I've seen. Way to go! Very appreciated.
Gentleman Jim Reeves had so many hits. You seem to be the only ones covering these wonderful hits from the past! Two great songs I did not see mentioned here are Distant Drums and Hawaiin Wedding Song.
You two just took me back to my childhood! Waaayyy back. My mom dearly loved Jim Reeves. Nearly every night my folks would stack albums six deep on our huge console stereo and we would fall asleep to music (everyone had speakers in their room). Jim Reeves was always in the stack. Check out Welcome To My World, it's one of his best.
I am a Canadian married to a Trinidadian man and Jim Reeves is loved in Trinidad too. My husband's aunt played Jim Reeves all the time at limes (BBQS). Great reaction. Cheers from Canada
This is the epitome of a great country song, lyrics that are understandable, music that goes along with the lyrics but doesn't overpower them, and is relatable, at least on some level, to a lot of people. It may not have happened to you or you may not have done this, but you may know someone who it has happened to or you can at least understand what is going on in the song, and it tells at least part of a story. Great reaction to a great singer. I would suggest you give a listen to Marty Robbins' song "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife". It won a grammy for best country song in 1971.
I'm deaf and rely on hearing aids and lip reading, I could always hear his voice in a smooth rhythm and on tv I had no problem reading his lips, his voice was beautiful. 😍
This is one of the few records in my mum and dads radiogram. I grew up with this deep, rich voice. He has so many more songs. Someone else has listed a few please check them out 🌸🌸
Another in a long line of great Texas artists that reached the pinnacle of greatness. And another that tragically died (Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, Jim Reeves, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and many more).
I love when young people can enjoy the old songs...more need to listen to them. This was the beginning of real shit....no matter what kind of music you listen to....
Jim Reeves has a rich deep voice that sets a real mood. One of his best known classics in that tone is Welcome to my World.
My sister that pasted years ago, loved him, her favorite. Memories

Jim Reeves. One of the purest voices blessed by God.

Make The World Go Away was sung by Eddy Arnold, not Jim Reeves.

Frank Borman and Jim Lovell often sang this song together on Gemini 7 to pass the time during their 14 days in space in 1965.
