    Oh my gah...
    I mistook the 1 million yen for 100 million yen when translating.
    I kept hearing the holomems saying "one hundred" in English, so I mixed it up Hyakku-man.
    Thank you for everyone pointing this out in the comments!
    I will double check next time. Gomenasorry...

    Officer Subaru is busy trying to wrangle her Police forces to chase the gangs, unaware that the Mio Mafia has set up shop in the bakery.

    Man, you can really feel how relieved everyone is when Subaru comes in to help. Subaru's English isn't actually that much better than theirs, she's just being more decisive and barging through the conversation with confidence. That's the way!

      Noticed on a stream a while ago with one of the EN members where she was listening and translating to Japanese ... she understands a lot more than she speaks. Her English VOCABULARY is surprisingly good even if her grammar's a bit broken.

    Surprised to see so many commentors not know that languages adopting Algebraic number systems separate units in groups of 3 while those in the sinosphere do so in groups of 4.
    Then again i didnt find an english term for the concept i was taught in middle school (三位分节法 and 四位分节法) so ig only those who group by 4 are very aware of this

    • @lianaverwood9810
      @lianaverwood9810 Місяць тому +1

      I'm not sure why the Metrics of the Yen are the way they are...
      They seperate their Denotations (where they shorten for ease of reading) at 100, then at 1,000,000: given how Payment for jobs generally starts at a Minimum of 100 Yen, I understand the first split in Denotation; but then they wait until one accumulates 10000 of those 100-Yen Notes before shifting to a new Denotation, the Hyakkuman (Ten-Thousand-Hundred, or Million-Yen) Note; the English Metrics System seperates in clean powers of 1000, so this drastic jump in denotation confuses me - I'm certain there's a Cultural reason for it, just not in the mood to go digging into Google for the Answer right now...

    • @lianaverwood9810
      @lianaverwood9810 Місяць тому +1

      Also, there's no Inflation involved, Mio intentionally added an extra 0 to the Invoice, seeing someone gullible enough to Pay it (or get Someone Else to Pay it)...

    • @Nusutto
      @Nusutto Місяць тому +1

      @@lianaverwood9810 its not just yen, its thier whole number system

    • @lianaverwood9810
      @lianaverwood9810 Місяць тому

      @@Nusutto I'm aware of that, but figured the seperation would've originated from how Payment worked over there. Since the Mistranslation in the video was about payment, I just used that for ease of explanation...

    isn't "Kyou chotto EN ga abare tsugitte" mean "Today EN (members) are getting a little out of control/becoming a little too wild" ?
    I know 暴れ (Abare) mean rampage, riot, go wild, berserk

    • @holobrah
      @holobrah  Місяць тому +2

      Hmm, I think I heard her say "Kyou chotto ie (家) ga abare tsugitte": "Things were getting a little out of control back at home" or (had a lot of hard work to do at home).
      Had to replay that part several times to hear it but yeah, I think I can hear her say "EN" not "ie". So you're right, it's more like "Today EN members are getting a little out of control"
