    Thank you so much for the detailed tutorial on the Effects.
    I have a question regarding the re-ordering of the effects, is that possible? like putting the 3D Warp after the key.
    Another question is regarding importing an image with an alpha (.png) which will be imported with an matte key effect, is it possible to resize the .png with 3D Warp? without effecting the background track.
    Thanks

      So I think I may have mentioned it in this video, instead of putting a 3D warp on a matte key, you should promote the matte key to a "3D Matte Key". There is a button to do so on the lower right of the effect editor. Then you should be able to manipulate the matte key without affecting the bg.
      You can reorder effects in the effect editor by clicking and dragging the effect icon :)

    Hey I love this video. But i have a doubt, i just wanna know is big Hollywood movies or series for example Stranger things uses after effects for VFX creation and then import the AE file in Avid? Is it possible to Work as dynamic link b/w AVID and After effects?

    • @theavidassistant
      @theavidassistant  Рік тому +1

      Hi! So you can't do dynamic link in Avid for AE files I'm afraid. Avid is primarily an editing platform, not for effects. What will happen on larger productions like Stranger things is they will do what's called "offline VFX" during the edit that are very rough and pass for the edit viewings. These may be done in Avid or if needed outside software like AE and then rendered out as media and pulled into avid.
      Once the edit is locked it will be turned over to online where VFX artists likely using Nuke and Maya will make the VFX shots and then slotted in to the edit at that point.
      Sometimes this can happen before edit lock but that's a longer convo! Point is that big productions like that won't use the edit platform to make complex effects. Only temp versions for viewings and leave the proper VFX til later for the pros to deal with.

      @@theavidassistant ohh, so ultimately they will add the final VFX shots as rendered media from different software into avid.

      Hey, on that particular sequence it was a burn-in template for exports on that project. I don't always have something on V7 by default though :)

      Thank you for your answer. I was asking and watching your video because I was looking for a correct way to letterbox my project. According to avid documentation the best way to do it is frameflex. But if I do it I can't later zoom in with 3dwarp without losing the desired ratio (everything is zoomed, letterbox too). Can you recommend a way to do it correctly? Best regards 😃

    • @theavidassistant
      @theavidassistant  3 місяці тому +1

      FrameFlex is the best way to format your clips but definitely not to letterbox the project. The two ways to do that are via mask margins or an effect on an upper layer.
      Here's a video I did on the topic recently that should help:

    Thank you very much for the effects tutorial.
    When working with the effect editor, every time I click on the timeline it disappears. Is there a way to have the effect editor always open like the time warp editor or the audio mixer.
    Thanks

    • @theavidassistant
      @theavidassistant  11 місяців тому

      You can dock it as part of the UI and then it should pop on and off whenever you are parked on a shot with an effect on it. It won't display when on a shot without an effect but if you dock it as part of the UI in your workspace then you can leave it there :)

      Yes, the editor remains but empty, without controls.
      Every time I click on the timeline it stays but goes blank.

    • @darkobusnja7331
      @darkobusnja7331 11 місяців тому

      The trouble is when you go to the next clip in the timeline, you have to press the effect editor each time, which is not the case with the time warp editor or the audio mixer.

    • @theavidassistant
      @theavidassistant  11 місяців тому +1

      @darkobusnja7331 you shouldn't have to press the effect editor each time. For me I leave it docked and it goes blank whenever there is no effect but controls come back when I'm over a clip that does have an effect.

    • @theavidassistant
      @theavidassistant  11 місяців тому +1

      So I just checked on this in my avid in case something had changed and it does indeed disappear every time. I'd recommend mapping the effect editor to a key so you can quickly call it up. Or if you are doing a bunch at once then leave effect editor open and then scroll the timeline (but leave the playhead alone) and click on the next clip with the effect on it. Effect editor will stay open and you'll be working on the new clip.
      Not sure when or why that behaviour has changed.

    avid is great. but i'm switching to lightworks after two years. both are neck and neck . but lightwork is fast 10 times faster.

    • @theavidassistant
      @theavidassistant  Рік тому +1

      Tried lightworks years ago but it didn't take. At the end of the day it's never really my choice what NLE I use. That's dictated by the studio and the production. 99% of the time it's Avid but I have seen one or two on Premiere Pro.

    • @asmabi0003
      @asmabi0003 Рік тому

      @@theavidassistant avid transcoding is painful. avid doesn't makes proxy. render time too slow can't edit complex project (vfx).
      but lightworks can transcoding the same time it makes proxy 1 minute 4k around 10 mb🤗
      lightworks has clone stamp (paint effect ) and smoother rotoscopy. the effects are same only missing motion tracking .
      how do you edit time wrap effect with audio if it has too many keyframe? it can't reduce 3d lut opacity.
      and i can't see the transcode pro res raw audio in time line 🥵

    • @theavidassistant
      @theavidassistant  Рік тому +1

      @asmabi0003 Avid can make proxies. It's just more manual than other NLEs. It's also waaay faster than it used to be although most avid proxies are made on set in Resolve or Silverstack by the DIT department. I've never seen Lightworks used in a post facility in a professional setting. Also Avid is primarily an Editor. It's not for doing effects work. Just the basics to pass for an offline edit.
      As for the rest of your message I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say so can't comment on it I'm afraid.
