DOCTONE!!!!
I went to school with Kenny Kirkland, from kindergarten to the 8th grade.
Holy Rosary Catholic School, Bainbridge Street Bed Stuy Brooklyn New York.
We took the 46 Utica Avenue bus home everyday.
I'm so happy that Kenny brought the world so much passion in his abilities. We had many talent shows in school when we were young. Bed-Stuy was full of talent and homes with pianos and upright bassist and singers.
Bed-Stuy Do or Die
thanks for the note. Reach out to me at noahhaidu@gmail.com we are still working on the project
Love tain. You have been a big part of my music life and listening to you play makes me feel 100% me. I feel like i'm home. Thank you.
thanks for writing!
Had several occasions to see/hear Mr. Watts perform live in NYC; Dude is The Truth; lightening fast and deadly effective with a kit and sticks.
Kenny was just so crazy good. I loved watching him play with Sting.
His solo on La Belle Dame is so beautiful I transcribed it on the sax. I can hear it in my head right now.
@@gordeevious Oh wow that must have been hard to do! I remember in music theory that every instrument has to be transcribed, or a lot of them, like clarinets.
then you should hear him with tain, & kenny garrett for some next level shit.
On my last trip to NYC in 2012, I saw your trio w/ Jeremy Pelt at The Kitano and ‘Tain at Dizzy’s with John Pattituci and the Rodriguez brothers. That was a great trip!
That's so cool! That was probably one of my first album release gigs. Kitano had an amazing piano, it was a great spot to play
Angela Bofield sat in with my band when we played in New York City. Kenny accompanied her on “Everything Must Change”, I have a cassette tape that came off the sound system at the club (Friends Again) Kenny was a treasure, obviously a great pianist, but also the kind of guy you have a great time with on the road, under any and all situations.
that's what I've heard from many of his friends. Wish I could have known him but we were different generations.
Good to see Jazzmaster Tain!
thank you
I would like to see the whole thing. I am happy, that someone does this now because this ist absolutely necessary. And I think a lot of piano players think the same way. What would it have meant to me to see him play live. Thank you!
thank you for writing, I really appreciate it. Our Kenny documentary is at www.noahhaidu.com/ (scroll down) and we will be adding to it so stay in touch
This is amazing. Would love to see more
If you can, watch our 37 minute documentary short on Kenny on my website: www.noahhaidu.com/ and let me know what you think on the "first chapter" in this story...
Please get this produced. I loved Kenny's playing at every level.
We have a 37 minute film on my website, if you haven't seen it yet go to my home page and scroll down. I think of it as an introduction to a larger project on Kenny. Hope you enjoy it.

2:38 what a compliment to give wow
yes hi praise from a giant....but then again Kenny was a giant as well
Dark mentioned many times...he loves light things!
Kenny was a serious drug addict for most of his life. He loved drugs more than he loved life
Kenny wasn’t a happy camper unfortunately. Heroin took him away.
