I am at the place now where if I see someone pilloried or disparaged in the news paper or on television news, or if names of "bad" people are mentioned in articles about misinformation, disinformation or conspiracies etc, then I look them up. Usually find that they have well considered opinions and I often agree with them.

I'm a 30 year old Australian, and I remember well when Tony was in, and was slandered as a racist sexist prick by just about everybody, and I remember believing it. It was only when I saw him literally on the front lines in his own community fighting some of the worst fires we had ever had that I realised we had been told a bunch of nonsense about a good man.

I voted for Prime Minister Abbott. I was absolutely disgusted when the party stabbed him in the back for Malcolm Turnbull. This was a low point in Australian politics and has heralded in over 20 years of political and cultural malaise. Tony Abbott is the closest thing to an honest politician you will ever see in your lifetime. How do I know this for a fact? Because at least half of everything he says is political suicide, but he speaks his mind and speaks the truth whenever he is called on to contribute. Thank you so much for reminding the world of this great man and thank you so much for working with him in your endeavors. He has an enormous amount to contribute.

To be fair, Turnbull was the opposition leader before Abbott, and he only won by a single vote during their first leadership spill. The liberals only installed him as an opposition leader to take down Gillard and Rudd and also to push policy that would benefit the liberal party's donors once he became the Prime Minister.

He had been a firefighter for some years before the Black Summer came along. It's hard to judge his Prime Ministership. I think given the opportunity he could have been very good.

I don't put much stock into the Australian main media in general because it's all under the same biased leadership that FAVOUR the Liberal party which Tony ran under - he was doing the same thing the party was doing whenever they've been elected into power. Siphoning money away from public funding for education, health and disaster prevention and into building top of the line fighters overseas, all the while further fucking the job market and stroking the dicks of real estate investors that turned NSW into a housing nightmare.
He's also the reason our NBN plan got fucked in its' initial stages and set the groundwork for our national healthcare no longer being free due to how much his party cut the funding over the years. Now to be fair to mr.Budgie smugglers he was nowhere near as fucked or shady as Scomo ever was, but he's definitely nothing like Trump. < 31yr old Australian, I was in Tafe when Abbott's budget cuts affect my course and reduced it's length. The only opinion of Abbot among my piers was of an incompetent and blind fool who sold out our youth and arts. Then you have this other end in absolute stark contrast of a conversation about such sensitive and controversial topics that most people are too scared to talk about - and even having been through that experience and weighing up both, I can't help but admire him for having the guts to a long form conversation with Peterson without pause for nearly 2 hours. I found myself agreeing with a lot of what Abbott had to say here and shocked myself.
I think this is a good lesson and a reminder that no one individual can meet the needs of everyone and that some of them are important at what they do bring to the table.
Seeing some hate on here for him, can't say I haven't felt the exact same at 20, but I listened to this without my head up my but and heard it for what it was.

An interesting conversation which I enjoyed quite a lot. To be honest, I didn't have much time for Tony Abbott as a politician. I was younger and more left leaning back then to be fair. However his time as Opposition Leader, while clearly effective at getting his party elected, was in my opinion quite damaging to political discourse and was part of one of the most turbulent periods in recent political history (5 x changes in PM over a 10 year period, back stabbings constantly by both parties, almost 0 bipartisanship) from which we've only recently recovered. Granted, one man isn't responsible for everything that happened, but I don't look back on that period fondly. Regardless, it's clear that he's a man of integrity, and with the passage of time and a change in role/responsibility, I'm glad he's representing Australia's interests abroad.

Funniest thing though, Zalli Steggal, a "Teal" Independent who took Tony's electorate in the last election, has just introduced Legislation about "Truth" in Political Advertising" in response to the supposed mis-information & disinformation contained in the No case for the recent Referendum, yet somehow lacking any details of what these were. I just wonder who will be the arbiters of this "Truth" or how she will sell it to her ALP colleagues/friends considering the scare campaigns on Medicare, NDIS and Social Security they trot out at every election, to name but a few.

Australia a free country ? How did that go during covid? I couldn't return as an Australian citizen. The problem with Australia is people like these politicians that sell out Australia and keep immigrants flooding in to keep their housing portfolios up. Add negative gearing, foreign investment and there is Australian's housing problem. An average of 5 investment properties are owned by each politician. I am not against immigration, my parents are immigrants, but at least let infrastructure develop before more people immigrate. The cost of living is also ridiculous. So happy I left Australia 6 years ago. I'm disappointed to say I'm Australian. The country has every single natural resource yet pays some of the highest energy bills. Australia has so much uranium yet has no nuclear power plants. No worries, she'll be right is the Australian mantra.

I had a lot of people try tell me he was an idiot, or he was crazy and it was always based on him being religious. No we don't. We need better. I lived under an Abbott administration and he threw Australia and Australian businesses under the bus. For example he tried to make an Indian Port so close to the Great Barrier reef it would destroy it. So from a monetary perspective, The Great Barrier reef brought in over $400M a year from tourism alone. Not including income tax etc. He tried to sell a area for a port for $4B. $4B or $400M every year with gradual increases due to tourism? What you think is better?
He also promised on election night "On the eve of the 2013 federal election Tony Abbott promised no cuts to education, health, or the ABC and SBS, and no changes to pensions." (Then and now: the Abbott government's broken promises - SMH). He broke every single one.
He's a smarmy, lying and deceitful person who tried to hide behind is fake 'religiousity'. There's a reason his own party backstabbed him and removed him.

Hi Jordan firstly I'd like to thank you, for things far too numerous to mention in this post, the thing I'd like to thank you for most though is for being an inspiration, for living your life in a way that finally we have a living Canadian role model that we can be proud of, happy to follow, and that for me at least, leaves me feeling proud to be Canadian again. I hope going forward, I can also live in a way, that helps preserve what that has meant for so long.... I've been long out of the country and from the view I'm getting though communication technology, it looks like the country I know and love is fast slipping into the quick sands of delusion.... That said watching this interview I couldn't help think, as I often do that your point of view just makes good sense, and if there were any common sense left in the political world it would already operate along the lines you suggest it ought... So then why isn't it? I wonder have you read the book confessions of an economic hit man? It answers some of your very valid questions I think, exposing as it does some of the machinations of the world bank, and IMF.... Though perhaps the answer is just as easily found in the first scene of the movie vanilla sky, " the answer to 99% of all questions.
Money.".. Or more fundamentally greed. So then the solution to greed ? I like what Robert Morris puts forth from the gospel, tithing,/giving rebukes the devourer.

Are you Australian to have seen that? In what state is press freedom in Australia now? I'm from UK and also get a lot of exposure to European and american/Canadian mainstream media, which to a large degree seems to be run as a propaganda wing of leftist ideologies. There seems to be a lack of centrist or balanced media that views both sides of any argument/issue. Censorship seems to be increasingly an issue (the EU, UK, and Canadian governments have all now implemented what they are phrasing along the lines of 'online safety' bills, tackling misinformation (what or who is the arbitor of misinformation is the question I think here..?).
One thing that particularly annoys me about mainstream media is how it has changed in my lifetime from the 70s and (maybe) 80s where channels like BBC news stated facts about A or B, whereas nowadays with rolling news coverage there is more time to fill therefore instead of stating facts, 80% of broadcast time is 'opinions'... which by it's very nature will contain biases that then opens the door to corruption at the broadcaster level, which in the case of the BBC (but applies to others as well) has lost a lot of trust by the population both within the UK and internationally. I honestly don't know which news sources these days can be trusted..X (twitter) is hard work, but does seem to be possibly the only place to find news from different viewpoints since Elon took over

Regarding Tony Abbot´s comment on the prayer of the faithful in a Catholic Church for the environment I would like to say that is not an alien tradition. In the Roman Missal there used to be "Seasonal Masses" dedicated to giving thanks for the harvest or asking for good weather. This was directed to societes very dependent on them. Also there were prayers for the fishermen at sea. As long as it is in a Christian Theological framework there is a place for prayer for the environment; obviously not a deification of Nature.

Agree💯 Politics is just another way the enemy manipulates the innate hatred in humans to create chaos and schisms. God is in sovereign control and uses leaders, good or terrible for His ultimate purpose. I pray more people, including Mr. JP, accept Faith in the One True God and gain an understanding of spiritual warfare as explained in Ephesians, chapter 6. Mr. JP's series on Exodus, particularly concerning Pharaoh is a worthwhile listen. God bless!

I can't help but interpret that Jordan is applying the same left-right dichotomy (of USA and Canada) to the Australian political landscape. I worry this repetitive interaction with former Liberal leaders (John Anderson, Scomo, John Howard) is because Labor leaders refuse to interact, however, I hope this is not the case.
Please, please, please talk to Paul Keating, that would be a phenomenal conversation.

Until the energy is completely free, like Nikola Tesla meant it to be, there will be hardship and poverty as well as wars in this world.

      My first thoughts also…
Why are none of these people discussing the possibility of free energy at all and still playing the mainstream line there?
And more to the point, why is free energy still illegal and punishable by all sorts of dastardly things - no less being regarded a thief (and punished according to their self-righteous pronouncements) in South Australia if you would dare to go off grid and then dare to produce your own free power.
You would risk having your home turned inside out by fully armed police who would hunt for the supposed illegal power source being ‘stolen’ from said grid that you might have (and they would surely find) in your home if you dare to switch on a light bulb not connected to the grid without their authority.
Is it any wonder that there is still the push to have us all monitored using ‘smart’ meters?

The part about psychopaths and self awareness causing stress mixed with the discussions on environment sparked some interesting ideas relevant to myself. Thank you Jordan I will endeavour to shape a belief that will benefit my life by paying attention to when I think my personality draws on opinions for good bad on others and giving or gaining in a now state. I'm a singer songwriter that values looking inward on society and the more I look inward on myself the more I define the nature of my artistry. All my life I have looked at the world around me with full openess. The world has forced extroverted behaviour on my personality in order to outlet my talent. If you ever find a way to educated people like myself on this counterpoint I feel the world would be better than what it is.

I'm tending to agree with this as every day passes and getting more convinced that the requirement of all our governments to keep sending money to Ukraine (which before this war started was the most corrupt country in Europe every mainstream media outlet told us, as well as I lived there for a year and embraced that corruption by paying police to extend my visa!!) which we all know is a massive money maker for companies like ratheon, Lockheed Martin, and other weapon manufacturers, while at the same time our own governments largely ignore their own people who are struggling with inflation and energy prices..
It's like our governments are actively reducing its own people's quality of life intentionally while enriching 'the war machine' (and the politicians who have their financial connections to that machine)...
