@19:00 we use swear as 1) to swear an oath or promise and also 2) swear refers to a curse word as well. in the context you said, once you swear to something, then we generally say you need to "keep a/your promise."
The flood was real in round 1 game 3. You started with 3 lands in hand, fetched then scryed a land away then proceeded to get 11 lands out of the 16 draws. That means in the top 27 cards of your deck you saw 18 of your 24 lands and only saw 9 non-land spells :o
When Mengu is singing "lah lah lah" is anybody else reminded of Bentley singing opera from Sly Cooper 3?
Also, Mengu, for you edification, the reason we call profanity "swears" comes from oaths being a form of profanity in ancient times. Think of someone saying "I swear to God" to express frustration.

I completly agree with your statement of Grief + Not Dead After All / Undying Evil which is nice when you have the 2 pieces of the combo together only.
I don't play Grief anymore in my mono-black midrange for more traditional discard and some LotV.

I'd like to see someone try a few Eternal Scourge with this--good jank. Granted they're not great to draw (but at least a 3/3 body is never dead draw, unlike some other cards in this deck), but exiling them with Necro and being able to cast them from out of nowhere could be a line. Think of them as a vanilla companion that comes in multiples and can be re-cast several times. They can be quite recursive too, which will matter when you're running low on life because of Necro. I mean, Sheoldred doesn't always stick around for the combo, so having expendable 3/3s to stabilize can buy time. AND they are a clock in and of themselves. AND they bypass your hand limit of 5, as they can chill in exile until needed. It's just good incidental value imo (they become more castable if you're playing Coffers though, which is prob the best way to play Necro anyway). I've made my case.
Also, I think Malakir Mire is better than Not Dead After All. I agree with your complaints about those dead draws. Mire is not as good in a straight comparison, but it offers more flexibility, so it can always be played. This deck can make do with 4 less Swamps (you got 15!). Could get a playset of Mires, ditch the Not Deads and voila, 4 spots opened up for Eternal Scourge or some other value cards.
Necro is gonna be tier 1 soon I feel, but prob not in monoblack. I can see a tiny green splash doing the trick. Getting access to Pick Your Poison, Haywire Mite, or Tear Asunder will shore up the color's main weakness.

The turn 1 legacy deck using necrodominance seems busted and fun! You should do a vid on that deck :D
Necrodominance seems good if you can go off on the end step the same turn you play it and nearly unplayable in every other scenerio.
That's why it needs Cabal Coffers and Soul Spike.
Yungdingo was playing soul spikes and FDFCs and it looked good enough for necro.
Maybe that is how black burn should be played now
Doesn't it make sense to run some number of Flare of Malice in this deck? When the scam package cards become less useful in the mid-late game, use one on your Grief and then sac it to Flare to return Grief as a 4/3 and thoughtsieze again, then Flare resolves removing a creature or planeswalker. Neat?

i mean, necro seems good, but tbh the one ring seems to do this but better. you dont sacrifice your draw step, and it can save you while you dig for an answer
This was just painful to watch. Turn 1 19-life Necrodominance in legacy is the way to use the card.

@@Whodatk1d It doesn't work. You pay life when the ability actually resolves, not before. So the life loss and card draw all happens at the same, then the Bowmaster's ability goes on the stack 19 times, and they can then do all their stuff and kill you at instant speed before Bowmaster does anything.
@@EGarrett01 youre getting it wrong my friend. Once you took the 19 life. Bowmaster ping for one to finish it off
@@Whodatk1d The Bowmaster ping goes on the stack. Necrodominance wins with instant speed cards. Bowmaster never gets to resolve.

totally agree on the "dead hand" problem of the scam archetype, as a fan of 50/50 decks i hate to play a deck that feels like a coinflip at every mull

I dunno. I played a variant of this using sorin and between the extort triggers and getting sheoldred out, it felt like I was just getting out valued throughout the whole game. Can't bolt sorin.
Just looking at the initial week of MH3, I can say it's a high likelihood there will be bannings. Nadu and Grief (which is still the most played creature) are both prime targets
I don’t see grief getting banned. The meta is too diverse and grief isn’t even in the most played decks.
Grief is widely played considering how prevalent combo is. Get Grief banned? You'll be crying about all the Amulet, Living End, Mono Red Storm and Nadu.
Bannings are based on enough time and data. Not from whiny crybabies on Twitter.
Since murktide has not been doing well for me I built this deck this week 😂. I need a few more pieces so it’s a weird scam rack right now but it’s been doing well

Recentemente sto giocando una versione bianco/nera con grief, solitude phelia e gli spiriti nuovi con ephemerate in alternativa a not dead After all e ovviamente 4x di necrodominance... potrebbe entrare in meta??
I saw you singing praises to phlage so I bought some, then they tripled in price. If thats any indicator, it might be a good idea to wait on necro.

Spike has a pretty big following as well and has been doing a lot of Jeskai/Boros with Phlage.

I dont liked the SCAM strategy of this list (i dont like that in general), maybe trade the griefs and Not That After All for more lifegain forms (like Sorin) to minimize the lifelost from Necrodominace, maybe could function better!

Game one against blue moon, imagine those are One Rings instead of necros. You throw them out there and probably force their counterspells so much earlier, then the rest of the game is so much easier. Instead, they're just 3 dead cards in your hand the whole game. Necro is bad for sure.
lol everything you said about swear and oath was correct. When your use curse words you are ‘swearing’. If you take an oath you are ‘swearing’ to do or not to do something. But when you swear to do something you are taking an oath. Hah
