Because M14 keeps stealing all the glory by murdering the shit out of everything and scoring MVP before poor Springfield can rack up 5 charges and make herself useful
essentially add a detachable mag a shortened gas system rechambers it for 7.62x51 nato (.308 win) expose the forewood stock to allow a floating barrel add a full auto feature (really not the best idea but why the hell not?) add a flash supressor uh? oh yeah make the damn thing weigh a ton (get that arm mass up amirite??) and voila u got a m-14 sorry for nerding out its one of the best rifles i own and it's my fav
