First of all, he was a 17 year old child, coming from a socially disadvantaged background. That made him very vulnerable and impressionable, susceptible to exploitation. Second, if you listen carefully, he initially went to the church at the invitation of a young lady and then stayed there partly to pursue a young lady. We’re not sure if it’s the same young lady, but regardless, that’s age appropriate behavior for a young man of 17. It sounds like he had a crush on a young lady or two (not sure) and the church became the avenue or facilitator and/or meeting place for him to pursue her/them. At 17, I used to walk through macca bush to be with my girlfriend and nutting couldn’t stap mi! Third, coming out of the inner city, he was surrounded by negativity and the church instilled some positive developments in his life, plus it sounds like it provided him with stability and purpose and made him feel like he was part of a spiritual/positive family. Finally, and this is where the young man showed wisdom and maturity beyond his years, when he saw those red flags he didn’t stay. He left the church, even though the members were being psychologically manipulated into thinking that they’d be spiritually dead if they left. This is an intelligent young man who, with the right guidance and assistance, would have a bright future!

That would be true IF we knew what he meant when he said he was “handling the finances”. It could have been as simple as assisting with collecting the offerings in church or helping to count and tally the money from the offerings after they were collected. In many organizations, you don’t have to be high ranking to do that. I’ve gone to churches where they allow even little children to assist with offering collection. That would be true IF we knew what he meant when he said he was “handling the finances”. It could have been as simple as assisting with collecting the offerings in church or helping to count and tally the money from the offerings after they were collected. In many organizations, you don’t have to be high ranking to do that. I’ve gone to churches where they allow even little children to assist with offering collection. By the way, I doubt this pastor would allow this young man or anyone else to be personally involved in his finances, like taking the money to the bank for deposits, etc. Look at how fat that so-called pastor is. Does he look like anybody else was handling his real finances?
