- Happy ending - Chrome sea trout. Fly fishing in the Mörrum River.
It's the last fishing day of the season in Mörrumsån. Martin and I are down at Strömmarna. We're just going to fish for a few hours in the morning before heading home. I stand there, thinking about how nice it will be to reunite with my family when suddenly, a fish takes the fly.
And it turns out to be no ordinary fish. A fresh-run sea trout, gleaming like a polished silver coin. An incredibly beautiful fish!

NOTE! Mörrums Kronolaxfiske/Sveaskog has chosen to remove the rule about only barbless hooks for the 2024 season. Instead, they will invest more time and effort in informing about how Catch and Release (C&R) should be carried out. I think that is a very wise decision!
Starting from 2023, Mörrums Kronolaxfiske has introduced a new rule allowing only barbless hooks. After fishing barbless throughout 2023, I can confirm that this inevitably leads to significantly more lost fish over time, resulting in a much poorer fishing experience. Please keep this in mind if you're considering fishing in Mörrumsån in the future - and if, like me, you intend to adhere to the rules.
Great film
Brilliant as always ❤️❤️🎣🎣
Hopefully next season the salmon will be more plentiful since this will be the 3rd year since Covid happened and all commercial fishing was halted so hopefully this year will bring some decent fish in that didn’t face as many problems when the world was at a a stand still. That’s my hope in Scotland anyway.
Great video as always!!
Tanks!
I really hope you are right. In the Baltic Sea, we have a huge problem with industrial trawlers that practically vacuum the sea on the salmon's main food, herring and sprat. So it unfortunately looks pretty bad for the salmon in Mörrum. /John
Nope, i dont believe its because of the barbless hooks, it's simply because when there are less fish in the river they dont need to defend their spot so much or at all and they are obv WAY less aggressive and just nibble at the fly and you lose a lot of them. it's the same here in Norway.
Hi,
Hooks with barbs are much better at holding fish than barbless hooks. These are cold facts. /John
Well it's a mather of keeping pressure on the fish at all times....
