- There is some really nice riding in Wales and it was great to get the chance to enjoy some days on the trails and in the mountains. Cheers to Gav and Andy for joining me and a big thanks to KTM UK for lending me a #KTM890AdventureR
Access for Trail riding and adventure riding in the UK is under risk from many factors. It’s bloody important to play by the rules and ride with respect. Sticking to the trails, quiet bikes, shutting the gates and all that good stuff. The TRF do a lot of good work to keep access for motorcycles. Any UA-cam ad money this video generates will go to them to say thanks.

Hopefully you felt at home Chris, when we visited NZ it reminded me very much of mid-Wales, except that Wales has a few thousand more gates!
Yes it definitely similar at times but different enough to be interesting. It’s a beautiful part of the world. Great people too.

Looks great - on the list to come to this part of the world and spend a few days playing! ....... although I have to admit, as a mere mortal there was a little sense of enjoyment seeing Chris finding the terrain tough in a few places (admittedly, his "few" would be my "lots" ...... but that's not the point!!)

i am glad you did not clean the section were you let air out of your back tyre. we done it in the dry and my clutch went on the rock where you got stuck on. but i did make it to the top dont no how the bike got up there. hope you are having fun in wales.

Beautiful area! It's an amazing world where we get to go along for the ride with the best riders in world. So cool. Edit: "I was not emotionally prepared for this..." occurs to me, on most rides too, but not under the same conditions. 😅

Great riding skills. Just can't see much fun in those huge rock sections. Likely to do more damage to the bikes than it's worth. New 890 ADV r 14k😢

It’s what they are designed for. Obviously depends on the rider but the only damage was scratch’s on the hand guards, we can live with that.

Slippery rock gardens + bike gynecology through the gate + awesome scenery 😅 it's the first time I see someone deflating a motorcycle tyre for grip, but it makes sense in that scenario.
It makes a big difference, give it a try some time just watch your rims on the rocks.

Must be nice. If I just went riding here is Georgia and opened up a gate and rove on some dudes property I would probably get shot at. Here we only have place like Highland park to ride at and OHV trails. Sucks.

I know suspension is personal, but how do you set yours up when you ride like this? Just the standard/sport from the manual or something else? 🤩
This bike was a stock bike, normally I run the pro component WP suspension which is fantastic. I run the clickers pretty much stock, I slid the forks down to the first line and backed off the preload on the shock a bit. No measuring just by feel. I like a bit more weight on the back wheel and bit more stability l.

Opening scene looks like happy Valley north wales not to far from barmouth 😊 where did you start as we ride south to North Wales regular as its in our area, you missed out the tetty trail in mid Wales, you missed out the bomb hole at strata !

What's the deal with all the gates? Are you getting permission to ride through other peoples properties, or is it public use trails sort of thing? It looks killer.
They are public right of ways through private property, public access ways going back hundreds of years. It’s quite incredible access.

If I tried to offroad here I would probably be left stuck in the rocks and would have to call for helicopter evac...
