  • I recently purchased an old metal record from the 80s, with the original shrink wrap still on it. Is it safe to take it off?

Satisfying! Yes I remove shrink from old LPs too. I got an original Sacrifice LP and Anthem LP in the last few months that were still sealed since the mid 80s. Got that stuff off straight away.

Holy crap I just see your comment! You ever had any trouble removing shrink? I saw some videos where people tear the sleeve right off!

@@mercyfulmetal7324 This has never happened to me, but that should be extremely rare and most likely some other damage occurred to adhere the shrink to the cover - all the more reason to remove shrink right after purchasing a new record, period! :)

I have a 'no shrink' policy for my collection, all shrink is removed and thrown away - shrink is for protection from shipping and from theft and damage once it makes it into the store - my belief is it is not meant for keeping on the record once you plan to keep it - I put all my record in protective sleeves anyway (Clear Bags BLP1 and BLPD brands) so the shrink is unnecessary once it makes it to the collection. I cut all hype sticker off and keep them in the inner sleeve inside the jacket.
