I have the slash epiphone signature guitar in appitite burst and I love it. as far as you test I new that number 3 guitar was the 59 Epiphone but there is very little difference from the gibson and epiphone slash models at all. and I got those wrong which actually makes me happy as I like the sound of both the epiphones over the gibson in this test. Which agai proves my point that you do not have to spend 2 or 3 grand to get a great les paul! well done,
Thank you for your reply 😊 Epiphone can make some great guitars. Hopefully they won’t continue to raise their prices. I’ve been eyeing the Appetite Burst myself. Love the look.
@@cbusbrian Ya I hope there prices do not keep going up as well. And funny you say that because I have been wanting to buy the November burst one myself lol! I was acrually torn between the 2 but when with the Appitie burst one first. A buddy of mine just got the Greeny epiphone he is goin gto let me do a video on it on my channel so I won't have to buy one lol! Anyway going to sub to your channel.
@@Rocktalk101I bought an Appetite Burst today from Sweetwater. lol I really wanted to do a video on a Greeny but I couldn’t justify the price tag for a review. I’d lose money on the resale. I’ll definitely subscribe & checkout your video. Thanks for the heads up & for subscribing 👍
@@cbusbrian awsome I will look out for your review on it. I just did a re vist review of mine after owning it for almost 2yrs now It will be coming up on my channel in a few weeks. I also just bought the Tommey thayer electric blue epiphone less paul as well should be here tommorrow lol!
I got Guitar 1 correct, specially in comparison to Guitar 2. Guitar 2 sounds very muddy and the note definition is not as clear as with the Gibson. Guitar 3 sounded very similar to Guitar 1, and coming from Guitar 2 I was not sure if there were maybe 2 Slash Gibsons there. Or if 1 and 3 were Gibson and Epiphone and the 2 was some other guitar that was muddy. So even though I had no idea what guitar 3 was, I think you can tell the difference between Gibson Pickups and Epiphone ones. And my hearing sucks for this kind of things. So I would say is pretty clear.
Thank you for your comment. 😊 Upon listening back to this video, this time using my earbuds instead of studio monitors, I can understand you saying guitar2 sounds “muddy”. I was kinda surprised by that, based on what I said at the end of the video. Still a great set of guitars. I enjoy checking out my “older” videos. I’ve learned so much since than. Especially to warm up before playing leads on guitar. My playing was very sloppy here lol.
I recently went into my local guitar chain store with the intention of buying one of the new Gibson 60's or 50's Standards, but walked out with the Slash gold top as I liked it more...I wonder if it's the pickups that made the difference?
Thank you for your reply. The gold tops are nice. I like the one they had in the demo shop not to long ago that had a black back. Slash pick ups are wound hotter so it’s possible. Gives them a distinct “crunch” I think.
Really hard to tell the difference even listing through my studio monitors and mixing reference headphones. I got one of the three correct (the Gibson), but honestly it was a toss up. Nice job with the video, it's much appreciated.
Excellent comparison. I guessed the guitars in order as I have the epiphone Slash LP and recognized it. I was really surprised all 3 were so very close.
Thank you for your comment. I too was surprised & pleasantly so. I was worried I wouldn’t like the Epiphone pickups. Which Slash finish did you choose?
Guitar 1 and 2 sounded identical to me. Guitar 3 was crunchier and I suspected it was the Epi 59 before the reveal. I have a Epi 59 and the burst buckets in it are distinct
Thank you for your reply 😊 The burstbuckers in the ‘59 are great. Thought about getting them for some other guitars in my collection. Really love the versatility the provide.
Do you know if the Burstbuckers are the same as the ones in the Gibson? I'm trying to decide on my first LP style guitar, and man is it confusing lol I suppose I won't really know until I visit the guitar shop and play a few But I'm trying to get better knowledge of these guitars 1st, so I can make an educated choice, not just an in the moment choice that I might regret once I get home
Hi Douglas. The white guitar in the shows intro is my first Gibson. It’s a Les Paul Special Tribute Humbucker with the worn white finish. I got it from the Gibson demo shop. It has the toggle switch by the Volume & Tone pots. More info here: www.gibson.com/en-US/Electric-Guitar/USASAV482/Worn-White-Satin
Thank you for your question. They are both great guitars that come with great pickups & great cases. Right now I’d go for the Slash. They are currently on sale for 100$ less than the ‘59. You know what, I’ll do an in-depth video comparing the two guitars to give you a better idea. I should have it up in less than 24 hours. Be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss it Matthew.

If the only thing you need is a name on a headstock, great for you but to presume what I do/like is way beyond your comprehension. Bye bye lol
