I had a look at it, because I also have fine motor issues due to nerve damage... But apparently it’s only for rich disabled people. Poor disabled people should just go without makeup apparently. Blackmoon Cosmetics has fantastic liquid lipsticks. They're my go to for vintage red lips aside from Besame. Cruelty free, vegan, doesn't move, and smells like vanilla cake. I go between the Sanguis and Mortis shades. They can be a bit drying after you have them on for a few hours, but that's been most liquid lips in my experience. Plus the packaging is absolutely gorgeous.
My experience is that the Lip Whip Remover wipes work like MAGIC & that using olive oil (which I've used in the past on other lipstick) worked ok but not nearly as well. The Lip Whip Remover wipes are also really good for Maybelline SuperStay Ink, & honestly I just really appreciate them as a product. Iirc they don't taste or smell! I only need one & do maybe a couple of passes but zero scrubbing, & as someone with fibromyalgia & often v low energy at the end of the day, they're definitely worth $15 to me every month & a half to 2 months. When I couldn't afford that, I'd definitely have used oil. Nothing else that I've tried works at all.
i use a lip balm made of beeswax, shea butter, and olive oil to remove lipsticks that don’t lift easily which works really really well(even on black lipsticks that notoriously stain lips)
NYX liquid lipsticks are my everything - I have sensitive skin and use cruelty-free as well and am a huge fan of NYX products especially their matte liquid lipsticks - I will say I don't use red
They are a gray area cruelty free as they have begun to sell in china. That said I do second the matte liquid lipstick's staying power... but I have a hard time apply it (that could just be my lack of practice. I only wear lipstick every once in a while)
I just wanted to clarify if anyone new to the cruelty-free world was also confused. In order to sell in China, foreign companies must test cosmetics on animals. Potential relaxations of the laws were introduced in 2019, but nothing will likely change for a while. (Don't mean to criticize your comment or anything. It was just what finally prompted me to look)
NYX is my absolute favorite. I sue red and I have three different shades of red from them that I adore the hell out of. And it's the only brand I've found that doesn't cause me to break out in hives around my mouth.
Too Faced Melted Matte is excellent, and it got through an entire Christmas dinner without budging. Their shade 'Lady Balls' is a gorgeous red, they are cruelty free but are owned by Estee Lauder so grey area again.
They allegedly don't pay their collaborators and there was that shady incident when NikkiTutorials came out as trans. :( I threw away all my "Peach" products from their line even though it smelled so lovely.
@@laughingcheektocheek why did you throw them away though? That's wasteful, unless they went bad. I don't understand when people buy something and throw it away if they learn it's from a bad brand, as if it's suddenly unusable. I have a kat Von D lipstick that was given to me as a gift and I wouldn't throw it away unless it got spoiled. Just in case, I'm not judging, I'm genuinely interested in seeing a different point of view.
Melted is incredible but unfortunately when I use up the tubes I have/they expire I will not be buying anymore from them for ethical reasons until there’s a massive change of tune from the leadership.
I dare someone to find a single thing to critique about your flawless lipstick application. As someone who puts on makeup like 2x a year thanks to fatigue, I am speechlessly impressed and loved watching this.
Another vintage lover who fell in love with Maybelline and was super sad when I found out they weren’t cruelty free! Thank you so much for this video Jess💕
"Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all" *Puts mirror down* "I just saw like a a crack go down it" I actually broke and had to replay that part multiple times! XD
I'm not at all a makeup person, but I'm happy it makes you happy. I just wanted to say I recognize the tremendous amount of work and energy you put into this. Great job.
Me too. All of the NYX makeup I've tried is awesome. The can't stop won't stop foundation is one of the few I've found that doesn't make my combination skin break out & it lasts all day.
@@DiannaAngela everyone loves the liquid suede lipsticks but I find they really don't work for me either. They get kind of pilly like an old sweater. glad I'm not the only one who had problems with them.
I'm really surprised NYX wasn't recommended, it is another one in a grey area but the products themselves and NYX as an individual brand don't test on animals. Plus there is an amazing colour range!
Thank you so much for bringing up the controversies surrounding KVD and Limecrime. I appreciate you giving both products a fair chance while also letting viewers know about the companies, thus encouraging more research to be done by the consumer.
So glad you tried the lip whip - it's my favorite lipstick for when I don't want the color to budge at all! I think you'd really like the shade Bowl of Cherries.
so fun to see this video! so excited to see the lip whip in the thumbnaill, we (femme couple) used to use the same long stay lipsticks but moved to lip whips a few years ago and never gone back to any other lip product and we have nearly all of them and wear them everyday i cannot phrase how important they are to our style!! life hack is to get the oil based make up eye removers pads from boots (they work as they are oil based) that are pads in a little pot, £2 and 3 for 2, we keep them in every handbag and room!!!
The way you did this video was so cute! It was nice to have a change from the standard sort of cosmetic testing video. I always enjoy this sort of thing! I must say that the Beauty Bakery one does seem good. I like the packaging, too. And what's more, it really, really suits you!
All of these outfits and hairdos are SOO pretty! Thanks for the involuntary lookbook!! The sleeping beauty mirror is so nice to look at, I’m glad that you use it in your videos
I appreciate that you are making an effort to reduce cruelty when and where you can. As for the “parent company” issue... if they have product lines dedicated to cruelty-free products it means they are recognizing the demand; and if those products do well, they might be more inclined to expand those product lines. So please do consider those “gray area” items when purchasing.
I would loooove a hair tutorial on the hairstyle with the white scarf! From the little peeks we get it looks gorgeous and so much more fun than a plain ponytail
Loved this video and the idea behind it! I really appreciate how you discussed that you can't be vegan, but want to do what you can! I love how you cover the grey areas and the spectrum of being cruelty free.
I had written off lipstick in general as unwearable for me because the few brands I tried kept smearing off of my lips so this whole video has been a real eye opener for me. Thanks for showing me the possibilities Jessica 😊
That is such an important point about how putting on makeup takes up a lot of energy, especially when reapplying each day when you have chronic fatigue. You should still be able to wear makeup without it being taxing towards your energy, or even when you have something such as muscle spasticity. Hopefully one day there is a makeup company that has a universal design, both in the contents of the product (e.g more organic products that have a lesser impact on skin conditions such as eczema/psoriasis, lasts all day) and in the packaging (e.g easy-opening lids instead of the twisty lids of mascara) for each of their products so it is accessible and usable for everybody ✨
Cruelty free liquid lipsticks with good formulas (some with non cf parent companies): NYX (the liquid suedes in Kitten Heels and a shade called Cherry pie or Cherry Skies or something) CoverGirl (has a similar 2 step system to your beloved Maybelline one with MANY red shades) Flower beauty (I found the Scarlet shade a smidge uncomfortable, but might be the dry down you're looking for) Pixi (too drying for some people and not a lot of product) Persona (I own their red shade and love it even though it won't last through greasy food from the oils in it) Ofra (Atlantic City is popular) Stila (beso and fiery are cult favorites) TheBalm (doesn't dry down all the way) Smashbox (toes the line between comfortable and budge proof) Juvias Place (lasts well without the lip prune effect) Julep (more of a mousse, less budge proof formula) Red Apple Lipstick ("cleaner" product that actually works) HOPE THIS HELPS!
I love Stila in Fiery & find it similarly comfortable to Beauty Bakerie. I find the NYX liquid suedes oppressively drying & quite smeary when dry. I'll need to try some of these others!
I love nyx lip products for the most part, but I have had bad experience with the liquid suedes, they take so long to dry and are so thick and crusty. When I first got one it took nearly 5 minutes to dry 😬 I'm glad they work for other people though.
@@notshardain I don't know if it's just me, but no matter how long I let Liquid Suede dry, it still transfers onto water bottles and straws and things.
Hi Jessica! One fantastic brand I think you'll like is "theBalm", they're a vintage branded, cruelty-free and I find their "Meet Matt[e] Hughes" brand of Liquid Lipsticks fantastic, and they smell nice as well :)
my absolute favorite!! i use it any time in musicals, since i don’t have time to reapply, i might be stage kissing others & don’t want it to come off or leave a stain, don’t want it to run if i sweat- which i do, and it lasts SO long! i remember when i wore it as a dancer in south pacific, and people were literally coming up afterwards asking for our lipstick. even on our two show days, i wouldn’t have to apply again, and that includes our potluck where i’m eating & drinking a lot!! totally recommend this one
oh yes, thin layer, let dry, perfect. not all of them survive a meal for me, but definitely tea and kiss proof. plus, loyal is a gorgeous universal red and i have a difficult skin tone to pair a bright red with. (committed is my ride or die nude, so pretty)
Thank you thank you thank you for doing a video on cruelty free makeup! The best way I've found to remove the stay put lipsticks is with a little micellar water & a cotton pad. Simple makes a great micellar water.
My favourite lipstick is the NYX Lingerie, not checked if its cruelty free myself however it was a birthday gift from my vegan friend who I trust very much on these matters. It's quite creamy, matte and comes in lovely colours which I adore!
The scent of sugar pill liquid lip is creamsicle. A very American cream and orange based ice cream. The shade nurse a is very lovely blue red you might like.
You should try too faced! I think they are cruelty free, look at their website for the most recent colors of their liquid lipstick. It’s called melted matte liquid lipstick
You apply them fantastically, I’m always impressed cos I can’t seem to get a clean line. Kiko is a nice find, I hadn’t heard of them before. I love Charlotte Tibury (and Besame for normal ones), though I haven’t paid much attention to how long-lasting or transferring they are. Claudia looks like a work of art at the end, and indeed quite clowny.
I'd recommend Logical Harmony (website and youtube) for all your cruelty free info needs! She researches things really thoroughly, has pretty strict standards for companies to meet in order for her to consider them cf, and I know a number of cruelty-free beauty people on youtube who consider her one of the most trustworthy sources of info on the subject. Woo!
You should really try "The Balm", they're cruelty free, have 40's and 50's inspired packaging and their Meet Mat(te)s liquid lipsticks are really amazing!
I bought that specific kiko lipstick when I went to Barcelona for spinal surgery and omg it’s my favourite and I will cry when it’s finished also, it smells lush
A friend just asked for a recommendation for a cruelty free vegan lipstick... I suggested Beauty Bakerie, and sent her the link that was left in the description. Thanks Jessica 😊
If you’re okay with trying another Lime Crime lipstick, they have a shade called Red Velvet that’s super bright and it stays on pretty well from what I’ve heard
As a cruelty-free makeup advocate myself, I really enjoyed this! I am always on the lookout for a good liquid lip - especially if it's matte! One brand I absolutely adore is Flower Beauty, specifically their Miracle Matte Lip. I'm not sure if it is available in the UK, but if it is, I highly recommend you check it out. Lasts all day, even stayed on through a full Christmas dinner!
i’ve recently been buying more high-end makeup products and been avoiding buying KVD because of how horrible she is. thanks for sharing that she’s no longer apart of the company!
As someone who also has no fine motor skills really I never thought about liquid lipstick. I find it so much harder to use but also I am pants at applying liquid lipstick so that might also be a factor. As always thanks for the lovely content.

As a real tribute to the lovely Jessica: I was 3/4 of the way thru this vid and considering the options. The bakery line sounded appealing, after all.
@@charlottemcclure3266 actually if the products are made in china they don't have to test
NYX is my absolute favorite. I sue red and I have three different shades of red from them that I adore the hell out of. And it's the only brand I've found that doesn't cause me to break out in hives around my mouth.
Oh man the liquid suede Cherry something is my absolute favorite but I don't get too many places I can wear it to
Did you let them dry at all before the first kiss test? That's a big part of liquid lipsticks tbh.
Does not look like tbh I have never had any issues with liquid lips right after application as long as you let them dry first
I was wondering the same thing...
I think it was just an excuse to leave lovely kisses on Cloudias face The actual test was wering them through a day
I think she just wanted to have an excuse to kiss Claudia on camera.
@@HeadlessHare like she ever needs an excuse 😂😂
Atriya Koller i agree. i won’t recommend that product to anyone but it’s awful to just waste it.
it’s so weird to see jessica without lipstick on
The kiss-test was so cute I literally squealed 😍
I dare someone to find a single thing to critique about your flawless lipstick application. As someone who puts on makeup like 2x a year thanks to fatigue, I am speechlessly impressed and loved watching this.
Another vintage lover who fell in love with Maybelline and was super sad when I found out they weren’t cruelty free! Thank you so much for this video Jess💕
Jessica has anyone ever told u how much u look like Ariel?! Maybe u should do a makeup look inspired or a complete look based on Ariel? 😍
"Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all"
*Puts mirror down*
"I just saw like a a crack go down it"
I actually broke and had to replay that part multiple times! XD
Don't you just love this woman? 💕💕
I'm not at all a makeup person, but I'm happy it makes you happy. I just wanted to say I recognize the tremendous amount of work and energy you put into this. Great job.
I loooove NYX's Liquid Suede in the shade Kitten Heels (fiery red) and Vintage (muted plum)
Me too. All of the NYX makeup I've tried is awesome. The can't stop won't stop foundation is one of the few I've found that doesn't make my combination skin break out & it lasts all day.
I LOVE kitten heels and spicy, but the liquid suede does not work for me. So happy they made them in suede matte bullet lipsticks too. 🥰
@@DiannaAngela everyone loves the liquid suede lipsticks but I find they really don't work for me either. They get kind of pilly like an old sweater. glad I'm not the only one who had problems with them.
Love kitten heels, but also cherry skies is great
@@cayleefirestorm yesss, I am going to try that shade, looks very pretty!
You are so inspiration and beautiful and helping me get through stress over coronavirus xx
So glad you tried the lip whip - it's my favorite lipstick for when I don't want the color to budge at all! I think you'd really like the shade Bowl of Cherries.
The outfit you wore for the Beauty Bakery test is gorgeous!
Ooh looks useful! I often wear red lipstick for dance competitions and though I don't spend the day kissing, I do usually spend the day snacking!!!
"Yes, I am gazing wistfully at a lipstick, what of it?" oh ME
so fun to see this video! so excited to see the lip whip in the thumbnaill, we (femme couple) used to use the same long stay lipsticks but moved to lip whips a few years ago and never gone back to any other lip product and we have nearly all of them and wear them everyday i cannot phrase how important they are to our style!! life hack is to get the oil based make up eye removers pads from boots (they work as they are oil based) that are pads in a little pot, £2 and 3 for 2, we keep them in every handbag and room!!!
Every makeup review should be done like yours! It's entertainment and informative! 😊
You should try out Black Moon Cosmetics. I think they are a smaller brand and cruelty free
I like the Barry M liquid red lipstick. It says on the website you mentioned that they are cruelty free and it's very affordable!
The kiko LOOKED buttery as you applied. So pretty
You are absolutely enchanting. Glad I found this channel.
*weeps* You two are so adorable together, I could die!
I really like the OFRA cosmetics liquid lipstick formula
YES! They're a great independent cruelty free company!
This might be the most adorable thing I have seen all day ☺️. I want all makeup videos to be this fun and sweet!
Cover Girl Outlast liquid lipstick. It's one of those two part kits with the balm top coat. Cruelty free!! Drugstore! TRY IT!
Cruelty free liquid lipsticks with good formulas (some with non cf parent companies):
NYX (the liquid suedes in Kitten Heels and a shade called Cherry pie or Cherry Skies or something)
CoverGirl (has a similar 2 step system to your beloved Maybelline one with MANY red shades)
Flower beauty (I found the Scarlet shade a smidge uncomfortable, but might be the dry down you're looking for)
Pixi (too drying for some people and not a lot of product)
Persona (I own their red shade and love it even though it won't last through greasy food from the oils in it)
Ofra (Atlantic City is popular)
Stila (beso and fiery are cult favorites)
TheBalm (doesn't dry down all the way)
Smashbox (toes the line between comfortable and budge proof)
Juvias Place (lasts well without the lip prune effect)
Julep (more of a mousse, less budge proof formula)
Red Apple Lipstick ("cleaner" product that actually works)
HOPE THIS HELPS!
So many good brands ❤️
@@bridgetthewench yeah, same. I said previously that it takes forever to dry, but even then for me it never truly dries and transfers horribly.
Wet n wild liquid catsuit is amazing! Lots of shades and stays really well, also very affordable
This has no where near enough upvotes! The Balm are brilliant
Their whole line is very nice! Definitely recommend theBalm!
I haven’t tried their lipsticks but I love their setting powder so much, it’s the only one that doesn’t simultaneously dry and break out my skin!
I really love the brown/pink not red shade. It looks like a lovely neutral
The colour of the Kiko lipstick is absolutely stunning on you! I hope we see you wearing it again 😍
You should try cheekbone beauty, it’s cruelty free and indigenous owned!
The second one looks like the color is perfect for fall
I use Beauty Bakerie all the time!!! Their stuff doesnt budge!! I've put it on at 8am and it was still there and perfect at night!
The scent of sugar pill liquid lip is creamsicle. A very American cream and orange based ice cream. The shade nurse a is very lovely blue red you might like.
This is the quality content I need right now. Thank you for such a lovely video
i have a bunch of kiko lipglosses/sticks and they're lovely!! i find them really comfortable, so i don't mind reapplying from time to time
You should try too faced! I think they are cruelty free, look at their website for the most recent colors of their liquid lipstick. It’s called melted matte liquid lipstick
I hope that you and Claudia are staying healthy and inside PS love to the dogs too
This is the video I needed! (cruelty free also)
Limecrime red velvet is an amazing shade. It's the velvetines that are the true matte liquid lip ☺️
this is the only pure content on the internet
Maybe try Black Moon Cosmetics? They say they're vegan and cruelty free, and I think the shade Sanguis would be the red for you!
Jessica, could you do a tutorial on your hair in this video? It's so pretty!
I recently heard that Charlotte Tilbury had started to sell in China though.
I own the KVD Everlasting Lipstick in Black and it sticks like glue to my lips
I love it
I'd recommend Logical Harmony (website and youtube) for all your cruelty free info needs! She researches things really thoroughly, has pretty strict standards for companies to meet in order for her to consider them cf, and I know a number of cruelty-free beauty people on youtube who consider her one of the most trustworthy sources of info on the subject. Woo!
YES. Apart from Leaping Bunny, Logical Harmony is one of the top trustworthy sources.
Lucy O seconded!
You should really try "The Balm", they're cruelty free, have 40's and 50's inspired packaging and their Meet Mat(te)s liquid lipsticks are really amazing!
I love the little birds on your outfit! Very cute
Thanks Jessica 😊
hi jessica! hope you and claud are well! stay safe! 💗
If you’re okay with trying another Lime Crime lipstick, they have a shade called Red Velvet that’s super bright and it stays on pretty well from what I’ve heard
I love the collar with the birds on it!!!!!
Very informative, thank you. I never usually wear lipstick, but now I want to get myself one in a nice colour! :)
I too, like Claudia, really like the Kiko's Magnetic Attraction (Shade: 01) color on you. I think it's super flattering. 😊
Poor Claud! She's SUCH a good sport though. 💛
This is the most entertaining makeup review I’ve seen
I would love to see you try some new colours out, non vintage, to see if maybe you find a hidden new love you never new you desired??
i’ve recently been buying more high-end makeup products and been avoiding buying KVD because of how horrible she is. thanks for sharing that she’s no longer apart of the company!
As someone who also has no fine motor skills really I never thought about liquid lipstick. I find it so much harder to use but also I am pants at applying liquid lipstick so that might also be a factor.
As always thanks for the lovely content.
This is great video and distraction from everything!! Thank you!!!!!
P. S in the subtitles (which thank you to the person who subtitled it) when Clara was speaking it said Claudia
As a real tribute to the lovely Jessica: I was 3/4 of the way thru this vid and considering the options. The bakery line sounded appealing, after all. (I was likely lured by the suggestion of pastry😋). Then I remembered - I’m 69 yrs and have rarely worn makeup. Conclusion: Jessica, you ROCK!!! Love you much. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
I find that application of a a clear/nude lip liner first also helps with the staying power of my lipstick
thank you so much for this video, Jessica!!! it was very well edited and funny! this is the first time I've actually felt relaxed in a whole week, I cant thank you enough...! ♡♡♡
