      I've fainted quite a lot of times, even in the hospital, and no one was bothered 🤔 I think it's low blood pressure mainly. My problem is that I have so many symptoms from having chronic illnesses that ought to warrant a doctor visit but in reality I find they can't/won't do anything about it unless it becomes life threatening, and even then I sometimes still got told I was overreacting 🙈

    • @CorinnePritchard
      @CorinnePritchard 10 місяців тому +28

      if the bathroom is the main scene for these fainting spells, there's probably no underlying cause other than changes in blood pressure from doing bathroom-related things. It's apparently more common when you've just woken up as well. Maybe turn the bathroom into a soft play room?! I cracked my head on the sink a fair few times because of period pain fainting. Ouch.

    I can relate to the problem of drinking excessively in your 20’s. When my friends and I reminisce, we always end up talking about how lucky we were that nothing permanently bad happened to us because of our horrendous drinking choices. And we all thought it was totally normal what we were doing. (My liver hurts just thinking about it and that was way back in the 90’s!)

    Claudia’s fainting sounds like “vasovagal syncope”. Or at least that’s what it’s called in the Netherlands. It can happen when you get up too quickly when you have been asleep. Basically your body doesn’t have the time to accommodate for the change from deep sleep to peeing. Drastic temperature changes can cause it too. In itself not dangerous, but you could of course hurt yourself if you fall. I am not a doctor but I wanted to share this bit of knowledge.

    I got Covid last summer after being vaccinated 4 times (fully vaccinated plus two boosters) and it took me OUT. I was incapacitated for about 10 days and respiratory symptoms lasted until I got it again this May 🤣 I'm so glad I was vaccinated. I don't know what would have happened if I wasn't. Imagine after 4 shots I was basically floating in and out of consciousness for days, unable to breathe properly, eat, or sleep. Genuinely thought I was going to d!e. If I hadn't gotten the vaccine, I probably would have. I do have chronic asthma and a bunch of other chronic conditions, so that makes sense I guess.
    Please take care of yourselves. Rest as much as you can. Don't ignore new symptoms when they occur. And feel better soon! I also put a curse on whoever gave you Covid! 🧙🥷

      I got covid twice and I live in New Zealand, first time was over my birthday in 2021 and second time was in 2022. It sucked having to isolate on my birthday even though all the restrictions had already ended so it was already running rampant. And my birthday was like the last day of my isolation. The first time I just had a sore throat, the second time I just had a runny nose. I’ve had colds that were way worse. Usually with those symptoms I would still be going to school and stuff because I can just ignore it but covid was worse for other people and I didn’t want to spread it.

    Claudia, it's likely that your vagus nerve was stimulated by needing to use the bathroom, causing you to faint. It is not too uncommon.

    I also have the sensation of falling before going to sleep. I feel a sort of shock, and it's always right before I'm drifting off so it wakes me back up. Does anyone know what this is exactly?

    Micturition syncope is what appears you experienced. A vaso-vagal reflex causing sudden drop in blood pressure. Not an uncommon phenomenon, uncommon to recur in same individual. Generally with no long term neurological implications. However, terrible injuries from an unconscious fall can happen with an episode.

    I'm pretty sure that it's still a thing that you're "not cool" if you don't drink. It's hard to make friends in your early 20s if you don't drink ime

    These are some truly strange questions. The deeper Jessica goes asking, the more painful they become. But still, I score low neurotic. I'll be sure to pass this on to my mental health care professionals. I expect some raised eyebrows. While I do believe my self actualization affirmations can help with self esteem, I think this test is remarkably dated and contributing to the harm us non normies feel.
